Chapter 72

Alphas Christopher and Sylvester were having a meeting with the Chief and the council of elders, when a gamma rushed in with a shocking announcement!

'My Alphas, Chief, Elders, we are under attack!'

At once, everyone stood and the Alphas howled the battle call, to alert the other warriors who may not be aware of the attack. Then taking their weapons, they rushed out.

'Who is the fool who dares to attack the Moon Ville pack?' Alpha Sylvester howled.

'Who have we offended this time?' Alpha Christopher thought. 'Has Alpha Blake got wind of the fact that I have found out his secret and therefore decided to attack us before we attack him? 'Well, only one way to find out!' he said aloud as though in response to Alpha Sylvester's question.

They rushed to the battle zone and there he was, Alpha Blake like Alpha Christopher had suspected.

They had already started fighting the warriors, after getting in with Millicent's influence.

'You can let us in, we are here to meet with the Alphas. There is an important information they need to know about!' Millicent said, smiling sweetly at them.

'That's correct', Cathania added. 'Sylvester and Christopher are not aware we were on our way, else you would have been alerted!'

'Moreover, I need to see them. I heard they've been looking for me', Millicent said, shrugging, so as not to seem to anxious to get in.

The guards were sceptical but seeing both Millicent and Cathania, they had relented thinking both Alphas would be happy to see the return of their fated mate, Millicent.

Something put them on their guard, though. They caught sight of the weapons the visitors hadn't on them and the size of the warriors was intimating and they thought, 'What kind of meeting would warrant bringing these number of warriors and weapons?' They grew alarmed. But before they could question the visitors further, Alpha Blake killed a guard and the others fell into the war mode, howling for other warriors to come join in the battle. Someone was sent to alert the Alphas...

Christopher saw the way Millicent was fighting and could not believe his eyes. That surely wasn't Millicent, fighting like a trained warrior!

'What is she doing, here?' he thought and rephrased it, 'What is she doing fighting us?'

While he was distracted at the sight of his long lost love, Sylvester, though also shocked to see both Millicent and Cathania fighting them, understood their grievance. He recovered fast and howled very loudly, attracting the attention of Alpha Blake, who leapt towards him as Alpha Sylvester also leapt towards him and the battle raged on with them fighting with both their weapons and claws.

Alpha Christopher was confused. How could he fight his own love, the female who had given him sleepless night by her absence? And why had Millicent felt the need to fight them? After what they shared, couldn't she have forgotten any thoughts of vengeance? The thought that Millicent had led him on and then chosen vengeance over him twisted his heart and his wolf wriggled in immense pain.

'I have to push the lover side of me to one side and be the Alpha now! I need to protect my people!' Christopher thought and quickly went into action, taking on, the Alpha of the Blood Moon pack who had come to assist his friend. Blake really came prepared.

'Hia, hia', went the noise in the arena and the fighting raged on.

'Hoooo, hooo', went the howling of the warriors.

Though caught unawares, the Moon Ville Pack was showing that they were great fighters. Alot of the warriors from the Moonlight pack lay bleeding on the floor.

Alpha Blake was not finding it easy fighting with Alpha Sylvester, infact he was being over powered, both of them were bloodied and Millicent looked at Sylvester and prayed that he should collapse so that Blake wouldn't have any excuse to kill him. She was not willing to kill him because of Christopher. But he had to be thought a lesson. She did not want to look at Christopher again so that she would not lose her resolve or become weak. The first look she had taken had left her shaken, causing a pang in her heart and she had quickly looked away, vowing not to steal another glance at him.

'Wow, both your women are fighting against you, Sylvester, are you not ashamed that you are not male enough for them?' he taunted as they fought.

'They are only misguided and you must also have brain washed them, but I assure you, they will come back to their senses, soon enough and return you the favour', Alpha Sylvester answered chuckling as he clawed him on the shoulder.

Alpha Blake winced , 'Ouch!' he exclaimed.

'What's that?' Sylvester asked. 'A real male will not shout out in pain due to a little injury such as this in battle. You must be growing too old for this. Maybe you should retire!'

Blake was enraged and started fighting furiously. 'You have offended lots of people and it will be a favour to them if I killed you and that is what I intend to do today!' he said through his teeth.

Alpha Christopher was also not having a smooth time with Alpha Martins of the Blood Moon Pack.

'You are just as shady as your friend. Little wonder you have come to assist him, fight a pack that has done both of you no wrong!' Alpha Christopher said to him. 'You must know that you have already lost this battle and shall be humiliated!'

' Do not count your chicks before they're hatched', Alpha Martins replied. 'The battle is not over yet...'

Both of them were bloodied and Alpha Martins was fighting dirty. Christopher started having the upper hand once he allowed himself to shut off all thoughts of Millicent from his mind and focus on the fight at hand.

Soon Martins was on the floor wriggling. Looking round, Alpha Christopher leapt to go and assist his brother, Alpha Sylvester.

'You are the person who killed our parents. You hired and mobilized rogues to do your dirty work for you and yet you have the guts to stage an attack on us?' Christopher said as he got to where Blake was fighting with Sylvester.

'Oh, I thought as much', Blake responded smirking smugly. 'It was you who sent those fools to come investigate the matter. You have made a grave mistake. You should have let sleeping dogs lie!' Blake concluded, laughing at him mockingly.

Alpha Sylvester was so shocked at what he just heard that he did what he normally didn't do in wars, his reflexes became slow as he looked towards Millicent, who had also stopped fighting when she heard what Christopher had howled about Blake's involvement in the deaths of their parents. She instantly perceived even before she read his thoughts that Blake hadn't planned on sparing Sylvester and now that Christopher knew his secret, he wouldn't spare him as well. 'What have I done?' she thought wildly. She leapt to where the Alphas were.

Alpha Blake saw Sylvester slow down his attack from shock and took it as an opportunity to finish him off. He never planned to spare Sylvester, he only agreed to it so the fool, Millicent could come with them, he was hoping her presence would cause both Alphas to be less focused on the war.

He raised his spear and drove with all his might into Alpha Sylvester but noticing his intent, Alpha Christopher pushed Sylvester away, coming in front of Alpha Blake and the spear found its way into Alpha Christopher, and he staggered and fell just as Millicent reached them.

Her heart thumping painfully, Millicent caught Christopher before he could hit the ground and both fell due to Christopher's awesome weight, with Millicent making sure he fell on her rather than the ground.

Holding him tightly to herself, praying fervently that he'll be alright, the scene at her birth pack, where she held her dying father while the battle raged on, replayed before her eyes. A sense of Deja Vu filled her. Was history repeating itself? Was she going to lose the one she loves yet again?
