Chapter 27

Millicent's POV

I was walking the grounds one day, appreciating nature and trying to forget the thoughts that were haunting me when I heard a voice behind me.

'Hello, beauty'.

The sound of the voice sent shivers down my spine. Not apprehensive shivers but sensual shivers. The voice was a rich baritone. I swung round, though I already knew who the voice belonged to. Only one person could get me to react that way, Christopher! The male who has refused to leave my head and had engrained himself in my thoughts.

'Oh, it's you', I said, flustered. I could not afford to keep reacting like a bitch on heat to him. He was the same as his twin brother. I had to be careful. 'My name is Millicent, not Beauty!' I snapped because I didn't want him to know the effect he was having on me.

'I know, Millicent', he said smiling charmingly. His smile caused butterflies to flutter in my stomach. It is a cliche but it was true, that was exactly how I felt. 'but I meant it as a compliment. You are beautiful. Has no one ever told you that?' he asked, drawing close to me.

I wanted to move away but my limbs would not respond. He came close to me, and tipping my head up, looked deep into my eyes. I could not escape looking back into his grey eyes and felt like I was drowning. His touch was affecting me in a way I didn't think possible. What was happening to me? This was my enemy and I needed to move away from him but my body would not listen to me and my wolf was not paying attention either.

'You feel it too, don't you?' he asked and I blinked.

'I don't know what you're talking about', I said too quickly.

'You do!' he said with certainty. 'You feel the mate bond, as strongly as I do. You can't deny it and neither is it advisable for you to ignore it'.

'I feel no such thing!' I snapped. I knew I was not acting right with him but he was my enemy after all. I may not have seen him on that day but he may probably be one of the people who attacked my pack.

'Is that so?' he asked, with a serious look in his captivating eyes. I wondered what he intended to do but before I could finish forming the thought in my heart, he bend his head and caught my lips in a kiss. It was gentle and at first I stood immobile, shocked at the impact but of their own volition, my lips opened up and started responding to his kiss. I had never been kissed before but I just found myself responding like it was what I did every day. The kiss grew frenzied and I would have it no other way. My hands crept up his chest, to curve themselves round his neck, and his tongue thrust deeper into my mouth, his hands folded around my back, caressing me and sending sensations through my nerves all round my body. A moan escaped my lips, this was exquisite. I have never felt anything like it before. We came up for air and my eyes fluttered open. I stared into his eyes and they had grown yellow, the wind blew into my face and brought me to my senses. What was I doing?

He bent to capture my lips again, but I was now in full control of my senses. I pushed him away but had to hold on to a wall close to me to keep my knee from buckling under me.

'Millicent...' he started, his eyes showing his desire.

'Keep your hands to yourself!' I said.

'You are my fated mate, Millicent. How can you even ask that of me?' he asked pained.

'I am not your mate! ' And to discourage him further, 'I am fated to your brother? How dare you try to steal me from him?'

He shut his eyes as though he wanted to get control of his emotions. When he looked at me again, his eyes were clearer though there was still a trance of desire in them.

'I was discussing with the elders about this issue and they said it was possible for a female to be mated to two wolves at a time and it is not too surprising since we are twins.', he said, swallowing. 'but be sincere with yourself, do you feel this exact way with my brother?' he asked.

'You insult me with your questions. Of course I feel sparks when he touches me', I lied. 'Why wouldn't I? He's my mate afterall!'

'I can't say if you feel any thing with Sylvester or not but I am sure it isn't as intense as it is between us, and I know you feel it too. In any case, you should choose who you'd rather be with - Sylvester or me', he said. Then smiling, 'I am sorry if I came on too strongly but whenever I am around you, I seem to lose control of myself. My wolf wants you desperately and I cannot share you, not even with my brother!'

I tried to make sense of the whole thing. I understood we hat he said about losing control anytime he was around me. I feel the same way too. It feels like my wolf wanted to be let lose anytime he came close and though the feeling was exquisite, I still would love to have control over my desires.

'Christopher', I said, in a normal voice thankfully, 'I appreciate your sincerity about your feelings but I must tell you that I do not return them. And you will be better off looking for someone else who will return your feelings because you see, that person, isn't me!'

'Liar!' Milly whispered in my head, angry.

'Millicent, that's not the way it works', he said catching my hand as I made to move away.

Before I started feeling weak and all mushy around him again, ' Do you mind?' I asked, looking at our entwined hands disdainfully.

'I'm sorry', he said, letting go my hands and before he could say anything, I quickly walked away. I felt him start to follow me and knew that if he touched me again, I might just melt into his arms but thankfully, he stopped and I did not turn back to find out why but hurried into my quarters.
