Chapter 4

"Dominic!" Evonne's eyes lit up. Withstanding the pain, she stood up and urged, "You're finally here! Get them to release Abby!"

Dominic's gaze flicked to the injury on her knees and forehead. With a darkening expression, he asked Amanda, "What's going on?"

She stepped forward with her head respectfully lowered. "Someone impersonated Evonne's older sister and came here to cause a scene, Mr. Clarke."

Dominic's eyes widened. His voice trembled as he asked, "Where is she?"

As Dad's most trusted subordinate, he was one of the very few people who knew who I really was.

Rachel lowered the knife and walked forward, looking aggrieved. She jerked her chin in my direction. "That's her, Dom."

Shock flashed through Dominic's eyes the moment he saw my face, but he quickly regained his composure. "So unbelievably similar. It's like they're identical."

He then let out a quiet sigh. "It's a shame she's already dead. No matter how convincing she seems, an imposter is still an imposter."

Evonne rushed forward in a hurry, tears welling up in her eyes. "Abby isn't dead yet, Dominic. She's here!"

Dominic looked at her coldly. "How long are you going to keep this up, Evonne. It's one thing to bully Rach on a daily basis, and now you're dragging all these people into your little act? You're getting more unreasonable by the minute."

Helpless, Evonne stumbled back, her gaze filled with disbelief. "I'm being unreasonable? Have you forgotten what Abby told you before she left the country?"

Dominic studied her for a while before turning away. "I just came down to take a look, Rach. Do whatever you want."

A triumphant smile spread across Rachel's face. She clapped her hands, and the men surged forward again.

I yelled, "Dominic! Can't you tell whether I'm real or fake?"

Dominic spun around sharply when he heard my voice, confusion flooding his expression. He raised a hand and signalled the men to stop, and slowly walked toward me.

"Even the voice is identical. You must've gone through a lot of surgeries to look like her," he murmured.

Dominic caressed my face gently, his gaze filled with a sense of nostalgia. "What a shame. No matter how hard you try, it's useless. There's only ever been one Abigail Bradford. And I hate people who impersonate her."

His gaze hardened as he pulled a gun from his waist, handing it to Rachel. "Make it quick. I'll clean up the mess."

Rachel smiled as she took the gun, flashing Evonne a provocative look. "Alright, Dom."

She raised the gun and aimed it at me. Just as her finger tightened on the trigger, the bar's doors were slammed open.

Gillian stormed in with a murderous look, followed by a row of black-clad bodyguards. She knocked the gun from Rachel's hand before dropping to one knee in front of me.

"My apologies, Ms. Bradford. We had to deal with some trash on the way. It took longer than expected," she said.
