Chapter 3

After I firmly refused, Henry backed down disappointedly and settled for the outfit I was already wearing.

Not long after, guests started arriving at the house. Some were friends, others were business partners.

When I walked out of the kitchen in the revealing dress I wore to work, every man in the room stared so openly that my skin crawled.

"Man, you seriously lucked out. Your wife's gorgeous."

One of the men grinned, his eyes glued to me the entire time.

Henry didn't mind at all. If anything, hearing other men compliment me only boosted his ego.

"After dinner, let's hit a club," Henry suggested.

Everyone immediately agreed.

Henry turned to me and insisted I come along, too. I tried to refuse, but he wouldn't let it go, so eventually I gave in.

What I didn't expect was that, after dinner, Henry dragged me back into the bedroom and forced me into the sheer dress from before.

"Honey, please. Just this once. Wear it to the club for me."

I was furious enough to feel heat rising behind my eyes, but things had already gotten this far. All I could do was warn him that this would be the last time.

Henry smiled and nodded over and over.

That night, our group headed to a nearby club and booked one of the large private rooms. I sat beside Henry, with one of his friends on my other side.

Every time I glanced over, I caught the man sneaking looks at me with those greedy little eyes, scanning my body nonstop. It made my stomach turn.

"Come on, Susan, the mood's perfect. Have a drink with us."

A middle-aged man poured me a full glass of liquor.

I was cautious by nature, so I tried to turn it down, but the others immediately started pouring more drinks while Henry joined in teasing me.

Left with no choice, I accepted the glass. The moment I finished the first drink, my stomach burned.

"Hey, now, you finished Bert's drink. You still haven't touched ours."

Another man laughed as he pushed a fresh glass toward me.

My expression stiffened.

I had a terrible alcohol tolerance, and one glass already made my head spin. If I kept drinking, I would definitely black out.

"Honey, don't kill the vibe. It's just a few drinks," Henry said.

Not wanting to embarrass him, I forced myself to keep drinking one glass after another.

By the end, I had lost count. I collapsed against the couch, dizzy and weak.

Even though my head was spinning badly, I was still conscious enough to feel someone touching me.

A mouth closed around my nipple, sucking slowly, while a hand slid down from my chest, brushing over my flat stomach.

After teasing the soft curls between my thighs, those fingers finally pressed against my swollen folds.

I knew they were already slightly parted.

The man spread them further, rubbing slow circles against the sensitive flesh between them.

"Ah... Don't... Ah..."

I had never experienced stimulation like this before. My legs kept tightening instinctively, clamping together before falling apart again.

Not knowing who it was, I pushed weakly with one hand, but that large hand had already wrapped around my breasts, kneading them greedily.

At the same time, his fingers pinched and rolled my nipple, sending sharp waves of pleasure racing through my body like electric currents.

I couldn't stop trembling.

I wanted more. I wanted it desperately.

Feeling the man's movements, I forced my eyes open slightly.

He lowered his head and kissed me deeply. Then I felt the hard heat beneath him moving closer...

Beyond The Champagne Silk: The Wife's Defiant Return Novel Cover
8.1
I spent forty hours hand-beading a gown for a woman who was currently sleeping with my husband. My fingers were raw, my vision blurred, and the needle had just driven deep into my index finger, leaving a drop of blood on the silk. Braxton walked into our penthouse, rain dripping from his suit, and didn't even look at me. But the scent hit me instantly—Bulgarian rose and white musk. It was the custom perfume Griselda, my own sister, commissioned in Paris. I had spent three years as a ghost in my own marriage, sewing costumes for the woman who had haunted my vows since day one. Braxton didn't bother to hide it anymore; there was a smudge of her coral lipstick on his collar. He didn't offer an explanation, only a command to finish the gown for the Met Gala so I wouldn't embarrass them. My mother called moments later, her voice sharp with the usual dismissal. She didn't care that I was bleeding or that my husband was cheating with my sister. She only cared that I was "falling behind" on Griselda's gown. I sat in the silence of that cold, marble cage, staring at the needle in my hand. For years, I had swallowed every insult and stitched every lie, believing I was the capable one who had to make them happy. But as the clock ticked, a door inside me finally clicked shut. I wasn't just tired; I was finished. I set the needle down, picked up my phone, and dialed my sister’s number to tell her she’d have to find someone else to bleed for her.

The humiliation didn't stop there. With his tacit approval, the senior residents bullied me, assigning me every brutal night shift. When his beautiful, wealthy heiress "girlfriend" visited the ward, he publicly mocked my background to make her smile. "Some people get in through the back door. They're not fit for the front lines." Even when I was forced to work as a secret banquet waitress to cover the medical copays he ignored, he found me, ruined the job out of pure possessive jealousy, and then fined my meager resident salary the very next morning just to show his absolute control. I endured his punishing kisses and cruel rebukes, sacrificing my dignity just to keep my mother alive. But I couldn't understand why he had to destroy every shred of my peace. If he wanted the perfect heiress, why did he refuse to let me go? Staring at his cold, controlling eyes in the stairwell, my exhaustion finally overpowered my fear.
