The Jilted Heiress's Ruthless Billionaire Revenge Novel Cover

The Jilted Heiress's Ruthless Billionaire Revenge

For five years, I abandoned my status as the heiress of the powerful Montgomery family to play the role of a poor, submissive housewife for Barrett. Then, a bank notification popped up on my phone. Barrett had forged my digital signature and transferred our entire $50 million joint trust fund to a woman named Crista Reid. When I called his boardroom to confront him, he humiliated me in front of a dozen Wall Street executives. "Stop acting like a hysterical housewife. You're living in a penthouse I pay for, so don't embarrass yourself." I broke into his encrypted laptop and uncovered the sickening truth. Crista was his mistress, and they had a five-year-old son together. Barrett hadn't just stolen my money; he had spent years painting me as a helpless charity case he rescued, completely erasing the fact that my financial models built his entire company. He thought I was just a discarded peasant he could manipulate, cheat on, and replace. He truly believed he held absolute power over my life. He had no idea that I still possessed the highest security clearance of the Montgomery empire. I pulled an old BlackBerry from a hidden wall compartment, plugged it in, and dialed my family's lawyer. "Draft the prenup for Commodore Clayton IV," I ordered, choosing to marry Wall Street's most ruthless predator. "I'm done playing the peasant."

Chapter 5

The private VIP entrance to Le Bernardin was a discreet, unmarked door in a back alley, far from the flashing cameras of the paparazzi.

A maître d' in a tuxedo was waiting for me. He didn't ask for my name. He simply bowed and led me down a dimly lit, soundproofed hallway.

He opened the heavy oak door to Private Room 4 and stepped aside.

I walked in.

The room was intimate, bathed in the warm, amber glow of crystal wall sconces. A long mahogany dining table dominated the space. The scent of white truffles and decanted Romanée-Conti filled the air.

I sat down at one end of the table.

Exactly two minutes later, the door opened again.

The air pressure in the room seemed to drop instantly.

Commodore Clayton IV walked in.

He was wearing a bespoke charcoal-gray suit that molded to his broad shoulders. He was devastatingly handsome, but it was a cold, brutal kind of beauty. His jawline looked like it could cut glass.

His eyes-a deep, oceanic blue-locked onto mine.

For a fraction of a second, I thought I saw a violent tremor in his gaze, a flash of something raw and desperate. But before I could process it, his expression slammed shut, freezing over into a mask of absolute indifference.

He walked to the opposite end of the table and sat down. The physical distance between us was at least ten feet, but the tension in the room was suffocating.

He didn't offer a greeting. He didn't ask how I was.

He reached into his suit jacket, pulled out a thick stack of legal documents, and handed them to a shadow in the corner-Arthur Finch, who had been standing there so silently I hadn't noticed him. Arthur stepped forward and respectfully placed the folder directly in front of me on the polished mahogany.

"The preliminary draft of the asset merger," Commodore said. His voice was a low, resonant rumble that vibrated in my chest.

I opened the folder.

I scanned the clauses. My eyes widened slightly.

The terms were absurd. The Clayton family was offering massive concessions-transferring prime real estate, voting rights, and liquid capital into my personal name upon marriage. It wasn't a prenup; it was a surrender.

I closed the folder and looked up, my fingers tapping the leather cover.

"Why?" I asked, my voice sharp. "You are giving up too much leverage. This is bad business, Mr. Clayton."

Commodore leaned back in his chair. He unbuttoned his suit jacket with one hand, a gesture of relaxed dominance.

"It is the fulfillment of a contract drawn up by our grandfathers," he said coldly. "I honor my family's debts."

He paused, his blue eyes boring into mine.

"And let us be clear, Miss Montgomery," he continued, his tone turning almost cruel in its detachment. "This is a corporate merger. Nothing more. I have... a childhood love. Someone I cannot have. My heart is entirely occupied. You will get my name, my protection, and my assets. You will never get my affection."

A strange sense of relief washed over me.

"Good," I said, pulling a Montblanc pen from my clutch. "Because the last thing I need right now is another man's feelings."

I flipped to the signature page and signed my name with a series of sharp, aggressive strokes.

I pushed the folder back down the table.

Commodore watched the folder slide toward him. His index finger tapped the table twice. Tap. Tap. A microscopic crack in his composure.

He picked up the folder and handed it to a shadow in the corner-Arthur Finch, who had been standing there so silently I hadn't noticed him. Arthur vanished through a side door.

Commodore reached into his pocket again.

He placed a dark blue velvet box on the table and pushed it toward me.

I opened it.

The breath caught in my throat.

Resting on the black satin was a ten-carat, emerald-cut diamond ring by Harry Winston. The setting was an architectural masterpiece, a flawless blend of platinum and negative space. It was exactly the kind of structural, clean design I would have drawn myself as an architecture student.

"It's stunning," I murmured, unable to hide my shock. "How did you know this specific cut?"

Commodore picked up his wine glass, his face an unreadable mask.

"My assistant team ran a predictive algorithm based on your past purchases and architectural portfolio," he said smoothly. "Big data is rarely wrong."

I accepted the clinical explanation. I pulled the heavy ring from the box and slid it onto my left ring finger.

It fit perfectly. Not a millimeter too loose or too tight.

"To big data," I said, raising my water glass.

Commodore raised his wine. The crystal clinked with a sharp, clear ring.

Dinner was served. Course after course of Michelin-starred perfection.

Halfway through the main course, Commodore stood up, walked over to my side of the table, and took the carving knife from the waiter. With precise, surgical movements, he cut my Wagyu beef into perfect, bite-sized pieces.

I froze, staring at his large hands performing such a domestic, intimate task.

"I prefer efficiency," he muttered, catching my stare. He set the knife down and returned to his seat.

"We will announce the engagement to Wall Street next month," Commodore stated as the plates were cleared. "To stabilize the stock."

"Agreed," I said. "But before we announce, I need access to your media contacts. I have a pest problem I need to exterminate."

Commodore didn't ask who or why.

He pulled a sleek black business card from his pocket and tossed it onto the table.

"That is my private fixer," he said. "Whatever you want erased, or exposed, consider it done."

The waiter brought the check. Commodore signed it without glancing at the total.

We stood up simultaneously.

"Let's go, fiancée," he said, the word sounding strange and heavy on his tongue.

We walked out of the private room, side by side, ready to face the Manhattan night.
