The Jilted Ex-Wife Is A Zillionaire Novel Cover

The Jilted Ex-Wife Is A Zillionaire

Isabel comes home from a seventeen-hour flight to find her husband of three years, Darius, waiting with divorce papers. He wants to marry his mistress, Dove, and offers Isabel a pitiful one million dollars—as if she were a charity case from the Rust Belt. But Isabel demands what is rightfully hers: a four percent equity stake in his family's company, worth 1.5 billion dollars. The family turns vicious, refusing to admit she secretly saved their empire from bankruptcy years ago. Darius and Dove orchestrate a public execution, spreading lies that her money came from a Ponzi scheme and hiring a fake victim to terrify her lawyer into dropping the case. Just as they gloat over her ruin, the most feared lawyer in New York steps forward: "Your case, I'll take it."

Chapter 2

The cab cut through the late-night Manhattan traffic and took Isabelle to an unassuming prewar building in Tribeca.

The elevator opened directly into a sprawling loft. A sanctuary. A truth she had kept hidden for three years.

She kicked off her heels. The cool floor against the soles of her feet was a welcome shock. She crossed to the industrial kitchen and pulled a bottle of ice water from the stainless steel fridge.

That simplicity was the real luxury. After three years of suffocating inside the gilded cage of the Lloyd estate, breathing the air of her own space felt like waking from a long, exhausted coma.

Her phone buzzed on the granite countertop. Darius. She swiped it silent with her thumb.

A text then popped up.

"Four percent? You think I'd believe a ridiculous lie like that? You have nothing."

Isabelle's fingers moved across the screen. Her message was concise.

"1.536 billion. Conservative estimate based on Lloyd Group's last quarterly report. Your CFO can confirm."

She sent the message and stepped away from the phone. Let him choke on it.

Miles away, Darius stared at the number. The sheer audacity of it made his blood boil. He hurled his phone onto the sofa with enough force that it bounced onto the floor.

"What's wrong, darling?" Daphne emerged from the bedroom, wrapped in one of his silk robes. The gardenia scent clung to her like a second skin. She draped herself over him from behind, her body pressing against his back, her arms coiling around his neck.

"It's Isabelle," he spat, his voice tight. "She's demanding over one and a half billion dollars. She's completely insane."

Daphne's eyes went wide. A perfect performance of shock. "Oh my god. How could she be so greedy? Darius, she crawled out of some forgotten backwater. Has she ever even seen a million, let alone a billion?"

The words landed with surgical precision. Every ugly prejudice he harbored was validated. Every doubt, erased. Daphne was a master of telling him exactly what he wanted to hear.

"That money, even if it exists, can't possibly be legitimate," Daphne murmured, her lips brushing his ear. "Think about it, Darius. A woman with no background, no connections, suddenly claiming she owns a significant stake in your company? She must have forged something. Or worse… manipulated your internal books. She must have done something dirty. A woman like her… they're capable of anything."

He seized the explanation like a drowning man clutching a lifeline. Believing Isabelle was a criminal was so much easier than admitting he had spent three years as a blind, arrogant fool.

"Don't worry," Daphne soothed, her fingers kneading his tense shoulders. "We won't let her get away with it. We can look into where the money for her so-called 'investment' came from. I'm sure it won't hold up to scrutiny."

She tilted her head, her expression a concoction of practiced pity and condescension. "We could offer her ten million. That's more than enough for her to live like a queen back in whatever little town she came from. It's a very generous offer, really."

Darius turned and pulled her into his arms. "You're right. You're always right." He kissed her, finding solace in their shared contempt. He felt powerful again. In control.

He had no idea how fragile that control truly was.

In her Tribeca loft, Isabelle soaked in a deep freestanding tub. Steam curled around her as her thoughts drifted back three years. To the crisis. Lloyd Group teetering on the brink of collapse, leveraged to the hilt by Darius's father, Magnus Lloyd.

She had quietly liquidated a portion of her portfolio—routed through a web of shell companies—and injected the lifeline the company so desperately needed. She had thrown Magnus a rope. He had grabbed it, used it, and never thanked her once.

She had provided the proprietary logistics algorithm that streamlined their supply chain and pulled them back from the edge of bankruptcy. That algorithm alone was worth more than the entirety of Lloyd Group. And she had given it to them for free. Because she had been foolish enough to believe in love.

That four percent stake wasn't a gift. It was a price. A secret deal struck with a desperate Magnus, a man too proud to ever speak of it again.

She knew this would be a fight. The Lloyd family wasn't going to hand over one and a half billion dollars without trying to tear her apart first. They would throw everything at her—money, lawyers, threats, lies.

Let them try. She had toppled regimes on smaller provocations.

Wrapped in a thick towel, she walked from the bathroom to the matte-black laptop on her desk. Encrypted. Untraceable. Documents, legal precedents, and financial models filled the screen as her fingers flew across the keyboard.

The cursor hovered over a contact list labeled "Ghost."

One call. One word. Lloyd Group would be a smoking crater by morning. But that was too fast. Too lenient.

She closed the window.

Not yet. This was personal. She wanted to watch them burn in slow motion.

She looked out at the city skyline, a landscape of power and ambition. The game was finally being played on her board.
