The Boomerang of Malice

Dinner was served, and I was invited to take a seat at the head of the table.

It felt as though the events from my past life were happening all over again in the same way. I had always been invited to the head of the table last time, but then, I had fallen straight into their trap.

This time, I wasn't going to let them do whatever they wanted with me anymore.

I looked around at their ugly faces at the table and chuckled internally in a cold manner. I knew that the show was just about to start.

As expected, Gary was the first one to open his filthy mouth.

"So, have you thought about it? It's just giving birth to a baby. It's an easy thing to do. Why are you taking so long to think about it?

"If you don't agree to it, I won't let you off easy. This is a warning!"

Gary glared at me with a menacing look, as if he would slap me across the floor if I dared to reject him.

Drake shook his hand and interrupted Gary. Then, he smiled softly as he looked at me through his glasses, "Janice, you don't have to overthink things. It's quite simple, actually.

"Also, you don't have to worry about anything. As long as you agree to give me a child, I promise that I will make sure the child is properly taken care of and enjoy all the riches I can offer."

Drake continued looking at me with his lustful, passionate eyes. He wasn't even bothering to mask the greed in his eyes.

I was objectively prettier than Lesley, and I knew that Drake had been drooling over me since our first meeting. Now that such an opportunity was raised for him, he would never let it get away without a fight.

Willow drew her lips in a thin line and started speaking in a passive-aggressive tone.

"I really don't know what's so difficult about it. You want a kid anyway, so it doesn't matter whose baby it is, does it?

"Also, Drake's offer is a very good one. Why can't you just make up your mind? If I were in your shoes, I would definitely—"

"Mom, please! What nonsense are you talking about?" Lesley said, interrupting her before she could finish her sentence. "We've agreed that if Janice doesn't want to do it, then we won't force her into agreeing with it."

I could barely stop the cold chuckle escaping my lips. Lesley was such a good actress. She kept speaking in a way that made me think she was defending me, but I knew that she was just pretending. She had drugged me before after all!

This time, however, they didn't know that I had also drugged their food as well, even before she had drugged mine.

"Janice, I'm sorry. I'm the one who started this, so let's just toast to the night and call it quits, okay?"

I lifted my wine glass and clinked glasses with her. Then, under their watchful eyes, I made sure to finish every last drop in the glass.

Lesley set down her glass and glanced briefly at Gary. "Gary, shouldn't you do the same thing as well? Give her a toast!"

"Fine, fine. I won't bring it up again," Gary said, impatiently clinking glasses with me.

Lesley then looked at Willow. Willow pressed her lips down even more but still clinked glasses with me despite murmuring under her breath afterward.

"It's just a baby. It's not like it's a big deal."

Similarly, Drake also clinked glasses with me.

To ensure that the drug would work even more efficiently, I made sure to toast them back, pretending to let bygones be bygones. Of course, they were more than satisfied after seeing how much I had drunk.

They started staring at me like how a predator would stare at their prey just before their demise.

I just smiled in return and gave them the same predatory look.
