Chapter 1

I spent fifty million dollars and hid my true identity as the White Wolf heiress to buy my mate, Felix, a seat on the Werewolf Council.

But right before our mating ceremony, he dumped me.

He pinched his nose in disgust, claiming I reeked of human money and was too low-level for a rising Council Beta.

He openly chased after the rumored White Wolf heiress, completely unaware that he was talking about me.

He even smashed my late mother's sacred moonstone relic to pieces, declaring he would use it to court the heiress.

"I can offer you a position as a bottom-tier Omega maid in my new household. That's the best you'll ever get," he sneered.

I looked at the broken shards of my mother's relic and the pathetic, ungrateful street dog I had pulled from the gutter.

He had forgotten who fed him her own ancient blood to keep him alive when his impure bones were tearing themselves apart.

He wanted to abandon the woman who gave him everything to chase a rumor of myself.

He wanted the legendary White Wolf? Fine.

I withdrew every single dollar, stripped his packhouse bare, and prepared to attend the grand Council banquet in my pure white silk gown.

Tonight, I was going to let him meet the heiress he so desperately desired, and take back every single thing I ever gave him.

Chapter 1

Serena POV

Lily, my Omega maid, drew a silver-backed brush through my long dark hair, the fine-toothed comb quivering in her grip. Her eyes, meeting mine in the vanity's reflection, were narrowed with a poorly concealed indignation.

"It's not fair, Miss Serena," she whispered. "You pulled that dying Rogue out of the gutter. He had nothing. No Pack, no territory, no future."

"You staunched his wounds when he would have bled out on the cobblestones. Now he sits on the Werewolf Council and regards you as little more than a scullery maid?"

I raised a hand, stilling her movements.

"Enough, Lily," I said, my voice held a measured stillness.

Just then, the heavy oak door of the bedroom swung open.

Felix walked in, bringing with him a draft that carried the metallic tang of distant factories. His natural scent, once a clean fragrance of rain on pine needles, had been suffocated beneath layers of expensive cologne and a cloying sweetness that spoke of unearned confidence.

He tossed his custom suit jacket—a purchase I had funded—onto the velvet sofa and glared at me.

"You still reek of human trade," he said, pinching the bridge of his nose. "There's no trace of a high-level wolf on you. You just smell like some ordinary human businesswoman."

A low, involuntary tremor started in my diaphragm, making the bones of my ribcage ache.

I had deliberately suppressed my true aura for years. It was a protective measure my father insisted upon when I was a child—to keep the White Wolf heir hidden from rival packs until my full awakening. I used my mother's maiden name in all my business dealings. Felix had never once asked about my family. He had never once cared enough to wonder where the money came from.

Now, standing before me, he was too blind to see what was right in front of him.

"The mating ceremony is next week, Felix," I reminded him, keeping my voice perfectly steady. "We need to return to my Pack territory to complete the bond."

For a male to join the female's territory as a submitting mate was a sign of ultimate devotion, but Felix just let out a harsh, mocking laugh.

"Go to your little nameless Pack? I'm a high-ranking Beta on the Werewolf Council now."

"I'm not traveling to the middle of nowhere to bow to your parents."

He walked over and leaned down, letting his gaze drift over my shoulder, as if addressing a space on the wall just behind me.

"If they want to see me, they can roll all the way here and beg for an audience. Besides, I have much better prospects. Have you heard the rumors about Elder Ashford's daughter?"

The logic of his words failed to register; my thoughts snagged on the raw, undisguised avarice in his expression.

"The legendary White Wolf heiress," Felix continued, his eyes gleaming with naked greed. "She's of untainted lineage, of immense power, and holds the key to the entire Council. That's the kind of female a wolf of my status deserves."

He was talking about me.

He wanted to abandon me, the woman who poured fifty million dollars into his political campaigns and used every favor my family name could buy to secure him a Beta seat on the Council, to chase after a rumor of myself.

"I see," I said, my voice becoming a dry rustle, devoid of all warmth.

I stood up, refusing to let him tower over me.

"Then I'll go back to my estate alone. We're done here, Felix."

He rolled his eyes, completely unbothered.

"Good. Don't let the door hit you on the way out. You were holding me back anyway."

He turned his back on me and walked into the bathroom.

The door clicked shut. I stood motionless in the center of the bedroom I had paid for, surrounded by furniture I had bought, looking at the man who had just thrown me away like a worn-out garment. The ancient White Wolf blood in my veins stirred—not with grief, but with a cold, patient fury.

Tonight, he would learn exactly who he had just discarded.
