Chapter 2

“Since you’re not a virgin anymore, you must be really good at seducing men!

“Don’t think I don’t know. There are plenty of women outside who want to marry my fiance!

“Someone like you can only strip yourself naked to lure him!”

At that moment, I finally understood.

This lunatic wasn’t obsessed with virginity. She was simply hostile to any woman she saw, driven by pure jealousy and competition!

Camila tightened her grip on my arm even more.

“Let go!” I shouted sharply.

Though Camila was startled by my sudden forceful tone, her grip didn’t loosen.

My heart jumped to my throat.

A woman’s face is everything. Nothing could happen to it.

“Liam is my real brother!” I tried to explain, hoping they would come to their senses.

However, in the face of jealousy, those words sounded weak and meaningless.

Maria laughed mockingly, her movements becoming even more vicious.

“Real brother? Please. Mistresses these days all call their men ‘brother’, don’t they?

“Do you think I’m stupid? Liam has never said he has a sister. I’m the only one in his heart!”

I turned my head sharply, narrowly avoiding a direct hit. However, her fingernails still left a bloody scratch across my face.

Only then did it dawn on me that to pursue Maria, my idiot brother had never told her or her mother anything about our family’s real background.

The phone rang again at the worst possible time.

It was still my brother.

Maria snatched the phone away. “Hello? Honey…”

Her voice immediately turned tearful as she began twisting the facts.

“Honey, come quick. That sister of yours isn’t even a virgin.

“You know what that means. If she’s not a virgin, her private life must be a mess!

“And she’s jealous that I’m carrying your child. She wants to hurt our baby!”

On the other end of the line, my brother sounded extremely anxious. “Maria, don’t talk nonsense! And don’t you dare touch Quinn! I’m on my way right now!”

After hanging up, Maria smugly tossed the phone aside.

She had misunderstood what my brother meant. She thought he was worried about her pregnancy and was coming to back her up.

“Did you hear that? My fiance told me not to touch you because he’s afraid you’ll scam me!

“He’s on his way to support me right now. Quinn, I suggest you behave yourself!”

Her expression grew more arrogant as she lay back down on the hospital bed and pointed at me.

“Now, you must deliver my baby.

“After I give birth to my son, you’ll kneel and apologize to me.

“Oh, and you’ll also compensate me one hundred thousand dollars for emotional distress!”

I looked at her coldly before saying, “In your dreams.”

My refusal didn’t seem to surprise her.

Camila, standing beside her, suddenly laughed.

“Maria, don’t worry. I have a great idea to make sure this Dr. Carter delivers your baby properly and honestly.”

As she spoke, she rummaged through her bag and took out a brown glass bottle.

The moment she opened it, a strange stench of ammonia and burned ash spread throughout the delivery room.

“Come, Dr. Carter. Drink this holy water to cleanse the filth from your body, and then you can help our Maria give birth.”

My stomach churned violently.

“This is illegal! I’m calling the police!” I warned them loudly, my body trembling with anger.

Camila, along with two male nurses who appeared out of nowhere, pinned me down tightly.

I vaguely recognized them. They were distant relatives of their family, having gotten into the hospital through connections.

“Illegal? We’re purifying you! Helping you return to being pure!

“Don’t be ungrateful!”

She grabbed my chin, trying to force the disgusting liquid into my mouth.

“This is child urine and talisman water I personally obtained from a church. It’s especially for driving away evil!

“Drink it, and you’ll be clean from now on!”
