The Baby Name I Chose for His Mistress's Son
Chapter 1
I requested to leave Doctors Without Borders a year ahead of schedule, just to come back home for the occasion and marry Hayden Tran. But when I arrived, I discovered Hayden had already become a father.
I overheard him instructing the maid, "Keep Nora Stewart abroad a little longer. It's best if she doesn't come back. If she finds out I have a son now, there will definitely be a mess."
In that moment, reality hit me. He had misled me.
Three years ago, he had advised, "Go work as a doctor overseas for three years to gain some experience and maturity. Once you've calmed down a bit, you can return and be my wife."
Indeed, I have matured. I'm no longer the girl who would cry and throw a tantrum at every minor thing.
And because of this change, my tastes have evolved as well. I no longer find him attractive.
When I returned home, holding the carefully chosen gift for Hayden, the house was empty except for the table adorned with numerous bouquets.
Laughter echoed from the garden, and I walked over, step by step.
"Hayden, you're really lucky. Your son is so cute, and your wife is so beautiful," I heard a man's voice tease in the distance.
I froze, unable to trust my ears.
Venturing further, I saw Hayden. He was cradling a baby in his arms, with a petite woman holding onto his arm.
"Yes, indeed, I'm very fortunate. But it's really all thanks to Laila," he said, his eyes full of tenderness as he gently ran his fingers through the woman's hair.
The woman chuckled, her face full of joy.
They looked like the perfect family, the three of them. So enviable.
I stood there, rooted to the spot, like a shadow watching them.
Behind them, a banner hung on the wall.
"Quinton Tran's One-Month Celebration."
Quinton Tran...
I remembered how I used to cuddle with Hayden and suggest, "Hayden, I want to have a son with you one day and name him Quinton."
When he asked why, I smiled. "Quinton, because it means a blessed year. I want our child to have a blessed year, every year."
Now, he had named his child with someone else, Quinton.
"By the way, Hayden, isn't Nora Stewart expected to return soon? Aren’t you worried she'll kick up a fuss when she finds out you're a dad?" one of Hayden's friends asked.
Hayden gently touched the baby's cheek. "I nearly forgot about that," he said.
Immediately, he made a call, instructing, "Keep Nora Stewart abroad a little longer. It's best if she doesn't come back. If she finds out I have a son now, there will definitely be a mess."
I gasped, taking a step back.
