Chapter 6
Natalie- I put on my mask in the car and then got out of the car with my kit in hand, just as I exit the car, I see that the police have already cordened off the area with yellow tape. "Ma'am this is a crime scene, I'm going to have to ask you to leave." A police officer approached me and told me. "My name is Natalie Edmund, the specially appointed coroner of the Major Crimes Unit of Dellmoor." I say to him and then I bring out my ID and show him. When he saw the identification his expression quickly changed. "I apologise Miss. Edmund, the chief didn't tell us that you were coming." He tells me as he raises up the yellow tape from me to pass under. "It's fine, I wasn't supposed to start work until next week but he said that this was urgent." I tell him as we both start walking. "Yes it is, I've never seen anything like this before. I mean I've seen body parts, but the way these ones were mutilated and also the markings on them...." He trails off. "Where are the bodies?" I asked him. "This way." He says and then he leads me to a place just close to the river and I see two other people there and they looked sick and appaled by the sight of the bodies and were clearly rushing to finish their work and rushing surely means that they'll miss something. I now understand why Jim wanted me here, these two don't know what they're doing at all. "Step away from the bodies." I order them and they turn around in shock and stare at me. "Who are you lady? You have no right to tell us how to do our jobs." The man says, raising his nose up at me. I do not have time to deal with arrogant males today. "Actually I do, my name is Natalie Edmund, your new boss." I tell him and he just opens his mouth but no words come out. "I apologise for Brandon's behaviour, it's just that this isn't the first time that a civilian has tried to sneak into a crime scene so we try our best to be cautious. My name is Effie." The girl introduces herself while the guy whose name I now know is Brandon is still getting over his shock. "That's fine but that doesn't explain why the both of you are doing a half ass job, I mean if you don't like the sight of dead and mutilated bodies, why did you choose this line of work?" I asked her. "It's not, it's just that we've never seen anything like this before." Effie tells me. "That still isn't an excuse for you not to do your job properly, these bodies are people and there are people out there looking for them and it's up to us to come up with answers as to how they got here and ended up like this. So if you can't do that, I suggest the both of you leave." I tell her and I don't mean to be rude it anything buy I hate walking with people that arent ready to work or good at their jobs. "No, it's fine, I'm ready." Effie tells me and I look over at Brandon who seems to have recovered from his shock. "I'm ready too boss." He adds and I have a feeling I'm not going to get along with him. "Ok then, let's get to work." I tell them and then I put on my lab coat and some gloves. Together they help me mark the body parts with numbers and we took pictures of each body part that was found and labeled them and we also took pictures of the markings on the body, I don't know why but I had a feeling that I had seen these markings somewhere before but I couldn't remember where. After about an hour, we were finally done and the bodies were loaded into the truck, Effie and Brandon were in the truck while I followed behind in my car. I kept wracking mt brain trying to remember where I had seen those markings before but nothing was coming to me, I hated this, it's like it's just there and I just can't reach it. I got out of my car and just as I was about to step into the building a man steps in front of me. "Excuse me, you're blocking my path." I tell him. "I apologise Miss Edmund, but my boss has been waiting all day to see you." He tells me. What the hell is he going on about? His boss? No one knows that I'm back in Blood Moon Pack, I mean I changed my name and my face, there's no way my father knows thay I'm back. I mean that's one of the reasons why I took a job in Blood Moon Pack territory and not Moon Shadow Pack. Blood Moon Pack and Moon Shadow Pack were two of the three packs to first settle in the town of Delmore and Blood Moon is the strongest and more powerful out of the three. I chose Blood Moon because it would keep me close to Moon Shadow Pack but not too close that they'll be able to see me coming. "Get the bodies down to the morgue, I'll be down soon." I instruct Effie and Brandon and then turn back to the man. "Who exactly is your boss and why does he want to see me?" I ask him and he looked shocked that I was questioning him, did he think that I would just go with him like that? "My name is Billy and my boss is Samuel Bowers, Alpha of Blood Moon pack and CEO of Centurion Corporation." He tells me. "And?" I asked him, a lot of people would be excited to meet the great Samuel Bowers, I know all about the Bowers family, their wealth and power is known all across America and beyond but I've seen what that kind of power does to people and I have no interest in it. "And he's over there in that Bentley and he would like to talk to you." Billy tells me. "Billy, please tell your boss that I have a very important case to attend to and if what he has to tell me is important he should come back at a time when I'm free." I tell him and he looks so shocked. "Are you serious, Miss Edmund, do you have any idea who he is?" He asks me. "Yes I do and I'm not changing my answer, now please excuse me." I tell him and I make my way over him and walk into the police headquarters.

On her eighteenth birthday, Elinor thought she was finally an adult. But a single text message reminded her she was just property.
Boyd Walker, the ruthless billionaire who dictated her every breath, threw a contract onto her bed. He had bought her adoptive father's medical debt—one billion dollars. And she was the sole collateral.
The punishment for even a hint of rebellion was catastrophic.
When her disabled friend tried to check on her, Boyd had his good leg shattered in front of a live security feed just to teach her a lesson.
When she fought off an entitled frat boy at school and came back with a bleeding arm, Boyd didn't comfort her.
Driven by a twisted, suffocating jealousy, he held her under a freezing bath, then tied a red thread with a silver bell around her ankle.
"You are a pet that needs to learn its boundaries."
Every time she moved, the high-pitched ring was a humiliating reminder of her gilded cage. The billion-dollar debt was a chain she could never break, and the monster holding the leash would destroy anyone who dared to help her.
Stripped of her money, her friends, and her dignity, Elinor lay completely still in the dark room for three days, refusing all food and water.
If Boyd wouldn't give her freedom, she would take the only thing she had left to control—her own death.

When I called my husband while trapped in a kidnapper's warehouse, he laughed. "Stop faking," he said, "my delicate mistress needs her sleep." He hung up. I signed the divorce papers drenched in my own blood, giving up everything just to escape the monster I married.
His mother threw a broken umbrella at me in the rain. I had nothing—no money, no identity, no hope.
But the moment I turned away, eight black Escalades encircled the street. A man in a tailored suit stepped out of a Rolls-Royce, shielding me with an umbrella. In his hand was a DNA test—and twenty-three years of relentless search.
"Your last name isn't Smith," he said, wiping blood from my wrist with his handkerchief. "It's Wilder. The Wilder family. And the man who left you to die?" He smiled, icy. "He owes us nine billion dollars."

At my father's wedding reception, my new stepmother demanded I give her the sapphire necklace my mother left me when she died.
I told her no. So she had her enforcer throw me to the floor in front of two hundred guests.
He ripped the chain from my neck, shattering my mother's gemstone on the marble floor. When my childhood maid, Arlene, tried to protect me, he kicked her so hard her head cracked open against a stone pillar. My father, a New York mob boss, saw the whole thing and did nothing but laugh with his new bride.
Any love I had for my family bled out on that floor with Arlene.
That night, I found Damien Flynn, my father's sworn enemy. I was supposed to be my father's greatest asset-a virgin daughter to be sold for an alliance. I decided to burn that asset to the ground.

My world revolved around Jax Harding, my older brother's captivating rockstar friend.
From sixteen, I adored him; at eighteen, I clung to his casual promise: "When you're 22, maybe I'll settle down."
That offhand comment became my life's beacon, guiding every choice, meticulously planning my twenty-second birthday as our destiny.
But on that pivotal day in a Lower East Side bar, clutching my gift, my dream exploded.
I overheard Jax' s cold voice: "Can't believe Savvy's showing up. She' s still hung up on that stupid thing I said."
Then the crushing plot: "We' re gonna tell Savvy I' m engaged to Chloe, maybe even hint she' s pregnant. That should scare her off."
My gift, my future, slipped from my numb fingers.
I fled into the cold New York rain, devastated by betrayal.
Later, Jax introduced Chloe as his "fiancée" while his bandmates mocked my "adorable crush"-he did nothing.
As an art installation fell, he saved Chloe, abandoning me to severe injury.
In the hospital, he came for "damage control," then shockingly shoved me into a fountain, leaving me to bleed, calling me a "jealous psycho."
How could the man I loved, who once saved me, become this cruel and publicly humiliate me?
Why was my devotion seen as an annoyance to be brutally extinguished with lies and assault?
Was I just a problem, my loyalty met with hatred?
I would not be his victim.
Injured and betrayed, I made an unshakeable vow: I was done.
I blocked his number and everyone connected to him, severing ties.
This was not an escape; this was my rebirth.
Florence awaited, a new life on my terms, unburdened by broken promises.
