The alpha went crazy after I donated my heart

After being diagnosed with cancer, and I chose to give my heart but for the hope that someone would live in my place. Alpha Tobis, my foster brother and unrequited love, saw it as nothing more than drama, dismissing my sacrifice as an attention-seeking stunt while he stood by Oliva's side. On my birthday, I waited, hoping for him to honor the vow he'd once sworn. But he never came. My heart was transplanted. When Tobis realized the truth, it was too late-my heart, my love, was no longer his. I was gone, and he would never reach me again.

Chapter 3

In the dead of night, I felt parched.

My throat was drybut as I passed by Tobis's room, I froze.

Oliva stepped out, wearing nothing but a robe. Her chest was covered with ambiguous marks-scratches.

My mind raced, but I forced myself to look away.

Oliva's voice pierced through the silence. "Selene, why are you avoiding me?" She leaned against the doorframe, eyes gleaming with mockery. "Could it be that you can't accept it? Tobis loves me, not you."

"No. I've accepted it."

"Liar. I can see it in your eyes. You're not over it. You still look at him like he's something you can't have."

"Do you have a thing for your foster brother, Selene?" She took a step close. "Are you some kind of psycho?"

I stood there, fighting to keep calm. But then, she went too far.

"I heard the reason you became an orphan... Your mother cheated, and your father killed her," Oliva sneered. "No wonder you're messed up in the head. It's hereditary-your mom was trash, and so are you."

That was the one thing I couldn't stand-the mockery of my dead parents.

"Shut up!" I lunged, grabbing her by the neck. "You don't know anything! You don't have the right to-"

But before I could finish, a voice cut through the air, cold as ice. "Selene, what the hell are you doing?!"

Tobis. His figure loomed in the doorway, his eyes blazing with fury. I froze.

Oliva, her face pale and trembling, collapsed into his arms, her voice soft and scared. "Alpha Tobis, don't blame Selene, please. It's my fault. I shouldn't have come out like this."

"She saw the marks on me and started calling me shameless. She said someone like me doesn't deserve to be with you," Oliva said, her voice quivering.

I shook my head, my throat tight. "I didn't call her that. She-she used my parents to provoke me! She called my mother a slut-"

Tobis's gaze flicked to me. "Selene, what are you talking about?"

Oliva feigned innocence, her eyes wide. "What happened to your parents? All I know is they died when you were very young. I don't know anything else."

Tobis's voice was low. "Selene, I never imagined you'd stoop this low, spreading lies about Oliva. She doesn't know anything about your past. I've never told her anything."

"Does she need you to tell her?" I spat, my heart pounding. "Can't she just Google it? It's not like it's a secret!"

"Enough!" Tobis's voice cracked like a whip. "Do you really think everyone is like you? Always scheming, always stirring up drama?"

My chest squeezed. He. he thought that of me?

"Apologize to Oliva, right now."

"You've spoiledrotten," Tobis's voice was colder still.

"But this time, I won't forgive you. Starting now, you're confined to your room. No stepping out until you've thought it through and are ready to apologize."

Tobis had always been the one to pamper me. But today, he'd chosen Oliva.

The door slammed shut behind me, and I collapsed onto the bed. My knees curled up to my chest as I hugged them tightly, my body shaking with rage and hurt. But the emptiness inside me only grew, gnawing at my insides.

Then, my phone buzzed.

I picked it up, barely able to focus as I read the message.

"Selene, your medical report is in. Your blood type is rare. A girl urgently needs a heart transplant, and we are tentatively scheduling the procedure for January 1st."

My heart dropped. January 1st. My birthday. The day Tobis and Oliva would marry.

I didn't want to attend their wedding. What would be the point? I would only be a burden.

I packed my things, deciding to leave quietly. I didn't want to disturb anyone.

But before I could leave, I stood in front of Tobis, biting back the tears. "I've thought it through. It's all my fault. I'm sorry."

Tobis's face didn't soften. "The person you owe an apology to isn't me. It's Oliva."

"Fine. I'll apologize to her."

I walked up to Oliva, my voice trembling as I forced the words out. "I'm sorry, Sister-in-law."

I saw something flicker in Tobis's eyes.

"Is that better now?"

Tobis didn't respond.

"Starting today, you're moving to the downstairs room."

I froze. He believed her lies.

Did he think I was the kind of person who would spy on him with another woman?

"Fine," I whispered.

My time was running out. And no one would even notice when I was gone.

That night, I went to the donation center. I looked at the girl's photo. She resembled me in some ways. She loved diving. Her soul was wild and free, just like mine had once been.

And maybe, in some way, my heart would live on through her.

I stayed out as late as I could, not wanting to face Oliva. But when I returned, the lights were still on in the villa.

Tobis sat in the living room, his face dark with fury. He threw a stack of papers onto the floor in front of me.

"Selene, tell me what this is."

I looked down at the papers scattered across the floor. My cancer diagnosis stared back at me.

I need fire, not a porcelain doll." My heart didn't race. It stopped. The medical anomaly was a lie. He hadn't forgotten me; he was just done with me. I set the tray down silently. I wasn't going to wait for him to remember anymore. I walked out of the penthouse and dialed a number I hadn't used in years. "Get the new ID ready," I whispered into the phone.
