Chapter 3

I was astounded. I won a total of 310 thousand dollars but lost 300 thousand dollars in the blink of an eye.

All the players who placed the same bet as Book Lover lost the game. Only the unknown banker won a lot of money.

I instantly got jealous as my hands kept trembling while holding the phone. My mouth felt dry.

Lilith started another round, but I stopped.

After the divorce, I got a house and 200 thousand dollars in savings. But it had been a few months, and I still had not returned to work because my failed marriage was a blow to me.

I used my savings every month and had to pay for child support. My savings grew smaller, leaving me a little more than 100 thousand dollars.

I put all my remaining money into the app last night. I lost, leaving only 10 thousand dollars for myself. I was afraid that my life would get very difficult.

I wondered if I should stop or try again. But I thought of the possibility of losing everything. I might not even be able to pay for my meals tomorrow. However, if I did not go on, I might never retrieve the money I lost previously.

Conflicted feelings gripped me. My mind was a mess.

During my hesitation, the result of another game was out. I casually glanced at it and widened my eyes.

Book Lover had countless chips on the ranking list as shown on my phone screen. He went all in, placing a bet of 5 million dollars on the banker.

The banker gained thirteen points while the player gained ten points. Book Lover won 30 million dollars.

I fixed my gaze on the phone screen with fierce envy. 30 million dollars was enough to buy two McLarens.

For a lottery game, one would only win 8 million dollars for the top price.

Deep regret filled me. I found myself foolish. I should have placed another bet.

Subsequently, I placed the same bets as Book Lover for two rounds. I won both rounds and retrieved 50 thousand dollars.

Unfortunately, that player logged out after winning a little more than 30 million dollars.

I became less focused because I lost someone who could lead me. I made rough guesses for all the subsequent rounds.

In the end, when the game ended, I was left with only 70 thousand dollars.

I was energetic yesterday, but I was miserable on this day. I was still gloomy when Lilith texted me.

[You weren’t lucky today. But it’s okay. I believe that you’ll be able to win and retrieve your money tomorrow.]

I merely texted her a smiling emoji to show that I was fine since I did not want to expose my current feelings to her.

Unexpectedly, she sent me a video. In the video, she was wearing a dress and dancing attractively. She danced hard as if she were trying to cheer me up. Her bosom kept bouncing. At last, she made a heart gesture at me.

[Don’t be sad. It’s okay. I’m sure that you can win it back tomorrow! Look at this player. He also lost at the beginning. His initial fund was a sum of only 10 thousand dollars.]

She texted me a screenshot of Book Lover topping up his money. It turned out that Book Lover lost a lot in the beginning. Then, he topped up a great deal of money and made a comeback. He won and retrieved all the money he had lost before.

She also texted me a screenshot of Book Lover withdrawing the money. It was a total of 38 million dollars. The number of zeros dazzled me.

If I could be like him… I could not imagine how great my future would be. But all that was left on my account was 70 thousand dollars. I did not know how long I needed to play to double that money.

I was wondering where I could get the money before Lilith told me something.

[I’ve got a secret, but you can’t tell the others. There has been a flaw in the casino’s online system lately. You can get your money back as long as you place a large deposit. If you top up 500 thousand dollars, you’ll get 600 thousand dollars.]

She even texted me a winking emoji.

[It’ll reflect on my job performance if you top up a lot. Help me, please.]

Lilith spent her time chatting with me these days when she was not working. She was pretty, gentle, and considerate. It was hard not to fall for her, especially for a man like me who had been lonely for a long time.

I started calling my friends to borrow money to make a comeback as well as for Lilith’s sake.

I was popular. Hence, many of my friends transferred the money to me without hesitation.

Some of them asked me if something was wrong since they were concerned about me.

I was too ashamed to tell them that I wanted to top up my funds in an online card game. I just made an ambiguous excuse.

After much effort, I managed to gather 500 thousand dollars in a few days.

The night I topped up the money, I won a million dollars. Not only did I earn back what I had lost, but I also won a lot.

When the game ended, Lilith video-called me very soon.

I nervously answered the call.

Soon I saw a woman in a bathrobe. She had just finished taking a bath. Her wet hair naturally fell on her shoulders. Some water dripped down her forehead from time to time.

As I looked down from her slender neck, I saw her smooth upper body. She seemed rather charming after exiting her bath.

My heart started racing.

Moreover, she was sitting on the sofa crossed-legged. Her bathrobe was partially opened.

I could easily see her lower body.

She was very seductive.

I was gripped by her good looks.

When Lilith noticed my gaze, she smiled shyly.

“Do I look pretty?” She rubbed her lips with her forefinger, seducing me.

“Of course!” I blurted out.

She looked prettier in the close-up video call. Her exquisite facial features were no worse than many models out there.

It was the first time I had video-called a beautiful woman. My palms started sweating. I did not know what to say.

Luckily, she started the conversation.

“I can do whatever you want for you since you helped me with my job performance. You can do whatever you want with me…”
