Taming His Beta General
"I won't accept your rejection, Lorraine. You are the one I want."
"Then you are as mistaken as the Moon Goddess. I am not fit to be anybody's mate. I... I am a killer. It is what I do."
"I understand. You are a soldier. Which soldier has not killed to protect? I will never hold that against you."
"Wrong. I am a cold-blooded murderer. Being a soldier is just the perfect excuse."

Just when she thinks she might have paid enough for her past sins, bloodcurdling vengeance returns, and everything she thought she knew about her family is revealed as a lie. Reeling from betrayals, unexpected new family, and an obsessed enemy on her heels, Lorraine must decide whether to trust a bond that threatens her clarity or embrace her predicted happily never-after.

Chapter 5
"What?"
Instead of instinctively stepping back as he stalked towards her, she raised her brow. "You don't want to fu...?"
"Stop talking," he growled as he laid his finger on her lips, cupping her jaw in the process.
Lorraine's breath scrambled in her throat. Still, she managed to narrow her eyes. "You don't tell me what to do."
"Right," he murmured, eyes intent on her lips. "But I can shut you up."
His breath on the corner of her lips as his thumb trailed over them like a work of art was enough to do that.
Still, Lorraine refused to take her eyes off his, even as her insides melted in anticipation.
He... he was going to kiss her. And she had no intention of stopping him.
His extended fingers tightened slightly on her throat as his breath drew a hot trail from her lips to her right ear.
A swift nip on her lobe made her jerk involuntarily, the action pushing her hard nipples into his chest.
She could already feel his hard bulge against her, which surprisingly did not make her pull away.
"I won't stop." The words sounded faint under the sensation swamping her body, yet they were just as hot. "A taste of you, and nothing will stop me."
"I... who said anything about stopping?" Lorraine was more than sure that could not have been her voice.
His ragged breath as his hands tightened on her shot a thrill through her. Now, he would...
"No." The word sounded tortured as he suddenly jerked back from her.
The eyes she had unconsciously closed snapped open as an unexpected feeling of rejection slithered through the hot frenzy in her body.
She held herself rigidly as she blurted, "No?"
He shook his head, took a step towards her and stopped just before he held her again. "No, Lorraine. I won't let you reduce this to... what you are doing," he finished with a limp wave of his hand.
"What am I doing?"
"Putting this down to just the mate heat, Prickly. That."
"I told you to stop calling me that." She glared at him.
His stormy look was replaced so swiftly with a grin that she blinked. This man.
"Maybe when you stop pushing me away, I will consider that."
He stepped towards her again, and she was the one who stepped back this time.
She couldn't believe she was actually feeling put out because he would not screw her brains out. She had always thought of him as annoying, and now she wanted him to fuck her until she forgot everything?
"This is your fault," she blamed her wolf, since the Moon Goddess was too far away to take responsibility for the mating she had shoved on her.
To Logan, she said stoically, "You had your chance and decided to blow it. I won't offer again. Now, let's get the rejection part over with."
He smiled as he folded his arms, all former agitation gone, like he was in control again. "You have not been listening, have you?"
"You haven't been making much sense," she answered curtly.
He nodded blandly. "Then let me repeat myself. Lorraine Spears, I am never rejecting you. I will haunt you until you realise that you can't live without me."
The arrogant... Wondering how on earth she had felt all the confusing emotions earlier, Lorraine gave him a derisive look as she said, "I only thought you were just an insufferable fool. Didn't know you are delusional too."
The insult rolled right off him as he stepped towards her again with widespread arms, saying, "See, babe? That's why I want us to get to know each other. How else will you discover all these wonderful qualities of mine?"
Lorraine almost lost the battle with the smile that sprang to her lips. She settled for an aloof look, even as he held her folded arms.
"Stay with me, babe. And you will find one thousand and one reasons to fall in love with me."
His intoxicating scent was messing with her again, so she tried to shrug him off.
Instead, he caged her in his strong arms, kissed the tip of her nose, and his grin disappeared as he stated, "Answer one question for me, please."
"What?" she blurted automatically, wishing he would let go of her before she melted into his arms.
"Your low blood sugar. That is a very rare thing for a werewolf. Any idea what caused it?"
The reminder of how he had seen her vulnerable, twice now, made her stiffen, and she jerked out of his hands as she gritted out, "I told you to mind your damn business."
"Lorraine, I..."
Annoyance crossed his face as his phone suddenly rang. He pulled it out to disconnect it, but hesitated as he saw the caller ID.
He looked apologetically at her. "I am sorry. I need to..."
"None of my business," she muttered as she stepped around him.
"Damien," she heard him say into the phone as she stepped out of the treehouse.
Damien. That was his beta. The one who had played a crucial role in the queen's rescue when they were in the human world.
Logan had put him in charge of the pack when he decided to follow them to Moonvale to root out those who wanted Athena dead.
Even though she did not want to admit it, Lorraine knew he did it partly because of her.
Just as he was mostly staying on in Silvergate now because he expected her to change her mind. She wouldn't.
"If the beta is calling him, maybe something important happened in his pack. He would be leaving, Lorraine. We can't let him leave like this." Kiarra's panicked deduction rumbled in Lorraine's mind.
She was surprised that it did not sit well with her, even as she said, "He can choose to go where he wants. I don't care."
"I care!" Kiarra snapped. She had always been mostly supportive in everything Lorraine did, but she had proven to be quite difficult when it came to Logan. "He is our mate! We shouldn't let him go!"
"I can't possibly tie him here, can I?" she muttered tersely. "He has a pack to run."
"We can go with him," Kiarra insisted.
Lorraine's step faltered as that possibility sprang into her mind like an unwanted burr.
"I am doing nothing of the sort. Stop talking about this," she snapped, ignoring Kiarra's sulk as she picked up on the sounds behind her.
He was still far behind, but she knew he could easily gain on her anytime.
"Lorraine, we need to talk!" His call made her want to shift into her wolf, outrun him and never stop.
She stopped herself from doing that and broke into a run instead.
Shame dogging her footsteps at her uncharacteristic behaviour, Lorraine entered the alpha house, glad she had beaten him there.
She intended to stay away from him until he gave up and returned to his pack.
Very soon, she would need to leave for Moonvale too, even if the queen decided to stay on in Silvergate.
The problem with Guinevere might have been resolved when the bitch blew her head off in front of Raymond two days ago, but there were still other things to handle in Moonvale. First on that list was Lance, the damn traitor.
Lorraine was looking forward to venting all her frustrations on the damn delta who had colluded with outsiders to hurt their queen.
Then...
"Lorraine, you are back. Great. Come join us. I have something to tell you."
Lorraine's thoughts were suddenly interrupted by Athena's voice.

Allie Patterson poured fifteen years into her husband Grayson’s tech startup, living in a cramped San Jose apartment. Every penny, every late night coding session, was for their shared future, built on his constant claims the company struggled, always on the verge of its big break.
Then, a grant deed arrived: a stunning $4.2 million Atherton villa, paid in full, listing Grayson and an unknown Kacey Schmidt as joint tenants.
Her coffee mug shattered as Allie’s world imploded. Driving to the mansion, she found Kacey in silk pajamas, flaunting a massive pink diamond and, beneath it, Grayson’s grandmother’s heirloom ring – the one he’d tearfully claimed to have lost years ago.
Kacey purred, "He's in the shower. We were so tired last night."
The words were a serrated knife, twisting, confirming years of lies.
Humiliation and rage burned out, leaving a terrifying, absolute silence. All her sacrifice and trust were a cruel, elaborate joke, orchestrated by the man she loved.
Allie calmly took photos, then gave herself one minute in her beat-up car to mourn. When it passed, her tears stopped, replaced by cold, calculated murder in her eyes. She typed a text to Grayson:
"Come home early tonight. I have a surprise for you."

He was born from the void between stars - a being of immense power, forged from cosmic origins.
For thousands of years, he walked among humanity, protecting them and keeping his true strength hidden. After losing the only family he had, grief led him to seek his own end... only to wake up in a world entirely unlike his own.
Here, cultivation is the main path to power. Those who master spirit qi gain superhuman strength, speed, and abilities that place them far above ordinary people. Four great sects rule the land, competing for resources, secrets, and dominance over each other.
Icaros joined the Li Sect, where he found companions he came to trust and care for: the capable and easygoing Li Han, the sharp and composed Su Yan, and the spirited Nelly. For a time, he felt he had found a place to belong, even as he kept his true nature hidden and wondered whether he could ever learn to cultivate like those around him.
Everything changed when their voyage was suddenly attacked. A powerful figure floating in the sky cut their ship apart with sharp, devastating energy strikes, leaving only destruction in his wake. Believing his friends had been lost in the disaster, Icaros chose to stop holding back any longer.
> "I am done hiding!"
He unleashed his full power: golden light blazed from his eyes, he flew at incredible speed, and he broke through every barrier and enemy in his way. On the shores ahead, he tore through hordes of powerful jade monsters, destroying them completely before flying deep into the interior of the island.
Meanwhile, survivors washed up scattered and alone. One young cultivator found himself on the shores of Jade Island - a place most cultivators avoid, as it holds no treasures or useful materials, only danger and endless deposits of ordinary jade. Yet despite the risks, ordinary people have built settlements here, finding safety from the conflicts and power struggles of the outside world.
This island works by different rules. Spirit qi is scarce and unstable, making cultivation far less effective than elsewhere. Instead, the people here rely on advanced technology - weapons and explosives that can injure or even defeat those with great physical strength. Here, skill and preparation can be just as powerful as raw strength, and even the strongest cultivators must move with caution.
Now, Icaros has vanished deep into the island. His companions are lost somewhere across this dangerous land. And the mysterious swordsman who destroyed their ship has already arrived here, searching for an ancient map said to lead to the legacy of a being from another world.
Will they find each other again? And can anyone survive in a place where the usual rules of power no longer hold true?

Nelson Smith has been struggling for survival due to kidney failure. Without a transplant, he has less than four months to live.
No one in his family matched after tests were done. Not even his siblings, parents or cousins, except for one person, Janice Capuno, his wife.
Janice used to be the darling of a wealthy Dynasty, until she hid her identity and married the man she loves, Nelson Smith, against her parent's wishes.
Instead of getting love, she was treated like a servant by her mother-in-law, mocked as a gold-digger by her sister in-law, but for her husband, his love towards her remained unshakable. He'd never ceased defending and protecting her from his family, that's why when the doctors confirmed her to be a match, she didn't hesitate to get herself cut open to save Nelson's life.

There was barely thirty minutes to the surgery, and Janice was already in her hospital gown, waiting to get cut and her kidney given out to save her husband's life, when the reality of everything she had believed in came changing in her eyes.
"Babe....my phone...switch it off...battery." Nelson pointed to his bag weakly before the sedative took full action on him. Just before she'll put the phone off, a WhatsApp notification suddenly popped up. It was from Tricia, his University ex-girlfriend.
"Baby, has the fool gone into the theatre yet? I can't wait for this to be over. Once you get the kidney, we're done with her." The message read.

Arlene was the illegitimate daughter of the wealthy Boone family, treated worse than a stray dog. To keep her meager scholarship, she had to swallow her pride and apologize to the frat boy who tormented her.
But he didn't just want an apology. He forced her to drink twenty shots of liquor laced with pure capsaicin extract.
"Drink us under the table, or take off your clothes and crawl out."
Arlene drank until her stomach tore, vomiting blood and collapsing on the filthy club floor.
When she dragged her half-dead body back to the Boone estate, her biological father and half-sister didn't care. Instead, her sister ground Arlene's SAT admission ticket into the dirt with her stiletto.
"Throw her out. Dad doesn't want to look at her before Hardie's engagement."
The guards threw her onto the gravel, leaving her bleeding and barefoot in the freezing night.
Arlene sat shivering at a dark bus stop, her dignity completely stripped away. She never wanted a dime from the Boones, so why did they insist on crushing her only way out? And why did Dr. Hardie Boone, the untouchable head of the family, look at her with such a twisted, terrifying obsession?
When Hardie's black Aston Martin pulled out of the shadows, he scooped her up, took her away, and locked her inside his penthouse.
"You carry the Boone name. Whether you live or die is my decision."
Trapped by the dangerous man who demanded total control over her life, Arlene finally realized that simply running away was no longer an option.

Kaitlynn's mother forced her to entertain Jorden, a cold, overbearing professional esports captain who she only remembered as an annoying, mud-eating brat.
She despised him in real life, saving all her admiration for "Hex," the god-tier player in her favorite MMO who constantly spoiled her with thousand-dollar rare items.
Trapped in Jorden's luxury car during a forced errand, Kaitlynn couldn't stand his arrogant attitude anymore.
She proudly bragged about Hex, claiming her online master's mechanics were vastly superior to any so-called professional player.
"He's the absolute ceiling," she declared defensively. "He's way better than you."
Jorden just smirked, his dark eyes dismissing her entirely.
"Sounds like a nerd living in his mom's basement."
Kaitlynn was furious, ready to scream at him, until his work phone suddenly rang.
Right in front of her, he casually commanded his team using an extremely rare, high-tier strategy exclusive to her game.
Kaitlynn's mind completely short-circuited.
Why would the captain of North America's biggest esports organization know Aethelgard's secret meta?
And why did his commanding, ruthless voice suddenly sound exactly like the low, comforting chuckle that echoed in her headset every night?
As Jorden's gaze dropped to the rare assassin class keychain resting on her lap, a wicked, knowing smile flashed across his face.
The untouchable esports tyrant had just realized his rebellious real-life enemy was his deeply pampered in-game student, and her peaceful double life was about to end.

I was the daughter of a defeated Alpha, kneeling as a broken war spoil before the ruthless Lycan King, Kaelen Varg.
Through a twisted misunderstanding with a spiked drink, the tyrant lost control. But when he attacked me, an impossible spark ignited between us. His inner wolf roared in triumph, recognizing me as his fated Mate, and he claimed me in the heat of the night.
But the next morning, he woke up with another woman's name on his lips. Realizing he had surrendered to a lowly tribute, his eyes filled with absolute, violent loathing. To erase the humiliation of our bond, he shoved me to the floor like garbage.
"Take her to the Barrens. Leave her there. Make sure she never comes back."
His Beta dragged me to a sealed, sun-baked wasteland crawling with mutated beasts. They clamped silver cuffs onto my wrists, searing my flesh and suppressing my wolf, leaving me to die a slow, agonizing death.
I lay in the scorching dirt, the silver burning into my bones. I couldn't understand how a fated Mate could be so merciless. Why was my life worth less than his twisted pride? Why did I have to be fed to monsters just so he could keep his throne spotless?
The cold rage in my core solidified into a diamond-hard resolve. I forced my bleeding body to stand in the desolate wasteland. I will not die here. I will survive, and I will live to see his kingdom burn.
