Take My Blood Away
Chapter 2
Nicole and I were childhood sweethearts, but Simon was her soul mate.
Nicole and I had been engaged since we were young. I told everyone since I was little that she was my future wife.
As such, she was the only one I had loved over my 30 years of life.
Things were different for Nicole. She went to study abroad and met Simon.
During those years abroad, she did all kinds of rebellious things. She used all her courage to love Simon and was secretly engaged to him. It was not until her parents found out about it that they forced her to return and married me.
She always cried during that period.
I did not say anything. I only stayed by her side silently.
She was still hoping that Simon would take her away until the eve of our wedding, but he did not appear.
That day, she sat on the balcony, disappointed, for the entire night. She turned and looked at me and said, "Ray Hawkins, I will never fall in love with you."
I did not take what she said seriously at the beginning.
Eventually, she was pregnant. I was happy that I would be a father soon. However, she aborted the baby without informing anyone.
I rushed to the hospital as soon as possible. I saw her hysterically crying as Simon held her.
It was then that I knew that she would never fall in love with me.
Our marriage was a matter between two families.
I did not say anything as Simon and her got closer. The White family then found out about their affair.
I was seriously ill at that time. The pain I endured left me with no time to care about anything else.
The next time I saw Nicole again was after I had a bone marrow transplant.
Nicole threw a suicide note in my face. "Ray, what the hell did you say to Simon?"
I read the letter. Then, I realized what Nicole was thinking. Simon, who had the same Rh-negative blood as I did, had donated his bone marrow for my transfusion.
Furthermore, he told Nicole that he did not want to be a homewrecker who everyone would despise. He did not want to be the one to destroy our family.
To make Nicole and me happy, Simon chose to commit suicide at an unknown, quiet place.
Simon also told Nicole not to go looking for him.
There was no way for me to deny anything with such an allegation imposed on me.
Nicole strangled my neck as she frantically yelled that everything was all my fault. She then imprisoned me in the mansion that belonged to Simon and her.
Every day, countless people would come to draw my blood.
My blood would be donated to anyone who needed Rh-negative blood.
If there were no need for the day, my blood would be treated as wastewater and poured casually on the withered roses.
No one felt sorry for me. Everyone thought that I deserved it.
They thought I deserved to die.
