Chapter 1

Having dated for five years and been married for seven, she had never missed his birthday in the past 12 years. The 12 gifts from previous years were carefully placed in the storage closet. However, this year's birthday gift...

"Ms. Scott, are you sure you want to apply for an emotion transplant surgery? Once successful, your feelings for your lover will be permanently lost and irretrievable."

Jenna Scott was momentarily silent before answering firmly, "Yeah, I'm sure, and I'll never regret it."

The staff member on the other end of the phone stopped dissuading her. "Okay, Ms. Scott. The application process is expected to be completed within a month. We ask for your patience."

After hanging up, Jenna bought a plane ticket to a Malodian town for a month later. Just as she was about to turn off the screen, she received a message from Matthew Simmons.

Matthew: [Jenna, I just got off the plane. I'll be home soon.]

As Jenna closed her eyes, the sudden sting in her eyes made her mumble, "Liar."

He had gone to keep his lover company but lied to her, saying that he was on a business trip. He was merely assured that she had absolute confidence in him.

The way she found out about it was pretty dramatic.

Knowing Matthew would be back today, Jenna went out to buy some food ingredients, but she got into a car accident. Fortunately, her injuries were not serious, and only her calf was slightly injured.

However, after Jenna had her wounds bandaged, she saw Matthew, who was supposed to be on a business trip, in the hospital.

The domineering Matthew Simmons who was feared in the business world was like a child who had made a mistake, keeping his head down as he was scolded by the doctor. There was a young lady beside him, holding his arm.

Jenna took two steps forward and heard the doctor say, "No matter how in love you are, you still have to pay attention to your health. Excessive intimacy can cause abdominal pain and physical damage. In severe cases, it may lead to heavy bleeding."

The doctor paused before earnestly advising Matthew, saying, "Take it easy next time. Be nice to your girlfriend."

Matthew quickly nodded in response.

The lady next to him playfully glared at him. "It's all your fault. You always use so much force."

Matthew pulled her into his arms and kissed her lovingly. "Okay, okay. Stop being mad. I'll be gentle next time."

Jenna had never seen him so flirtatious and carefree. He was always gentle and restrained in front of her.

Jenna laughed at herself and lamented again that Matthew was great at pretending.

Although Matthew said he would be back soon, he did not return until sunset. He returned with a large bouquet of white roses.

Jenna was curled up on the couch with her knees in her arms when she heard him and subconsciously looked up.

"Jenna, why didn't you turn on the lights at home?" He pressed the switch, and the living room, which had been completely dark, lit up instantly.

Jenna stared blankly at him. She slowly scanned his face, trying to find something different from before. However, there was nothing; he seemed just like usual. Even the look in his eyes as he gazed at her was filled with familiar affection.

Matthew looked down at the bleeding wound on Jenna's calf, and his pupils constricted. "Why are you hurt?" He then hurriedly grabbed the first aid kit, held Jenna's ankle, and carefully helped her take care of her wound. "Jenna, how did you get injured?"

His concerned and distressed expression seemed real, not fake at all.

Jenna's eyes instantly reddened as she whispered, "I got into a car accident while I was out today."

"Why didn't you contact me..." Matthew suddenly stopped halfway through his sentence. As if realizing something, he abruptly lowered his eyes, his voice tinted with guilt. "I'm sorry, Jenna. I should've come back earlier."

A hint of mockery gradually appeared on Jenna's face. Those indulging in pleasure would not be willing to withdraw from it so easily. With that in mind, she said indifferently, "It's alright. Work is important."

After a pause, she looked down and whispered, "Your birthday is in a month. I'll prepare a gift that will please you."

Her lashes were long and thick, almost concealing the emotions in her eyes when she looked down. Matthew did not notice anything unusual about her. The moment he heard that Jenna was going to prepare a gift for him, his eyes instantly lit up with surprise. "I'll be counting down the days. My darling Jenna, you always know how to handle me."

Jenna looked at Matthew, whose face was brimming with sweetness and joy. A sudden wave of bitterness surged in her heart.

Having dated for five years and married for seven, she had never missed his birthday in the past 12 years. The 12 gifts from previous years were carefully placed in the storage closet. Jenna supposed he would also be pleased with this year's birthday gift. After all, he liked that lady very much.

I woke up in a bedroom that screamed old money, but the body I occupied felt sluggish and fragile. I was now Chris Olson, a man known as a pathetic failure who spent his marriage groveling at his wife's feet for a single look of approval. Elizabeth didn't even wait for me to clear my head before she threw the divorce papers on the nightstand. She stood there in her silk robe, eyes cold as ice, demanding I sign them before breakfast so she could finally go public with her "White Moonlight," Greg. "You're walking away with nothing," she snapped, her voice full of the disgust she'd harbored for years. She reminded me that my family had disowned me and that I'd be on the streets within a week without her charity. As I sat up, a metallic, garlic-like scent on my breath confirmed a terrifying truth: the Olson family hadn't just disowned me; they had been micro-dosing me with arsenic for years. They wanted me weak and mentally unstable so they could split the inheritance without a fight. The original Chris would have cried and begged for her to stay, but I just looked at her like she was a target. I realized then that my "loving" family and my "faithful" wife had been watching me die in slow motion, and neither of them had lifted a finger to stop it. I signed the papers without reading a single line and walked out with nothing but a duffel bag and a rusted sedan. I didn't need her alimony; I had already called her greatest rival, Adelia Cherry, to discuss a merger that would rock the city. "I'm not here to save this marriage," I told Elizabeth as I moved into the mansion right next door to hers. "I'm here to bury it, along with everyone who thought they could poison me and get away with it."

Her back hit the wall beside her bathroom. Nowhere left to retreat. "Mom said I should take care of you." I was standing very close to her and staring down at the swell of her breasts from the top of her robe. I reached out and trailed my hand down her neck, through the center until I pulled the string holding the robe together. "Stop." She whispered but her expression betrayed her. I leaned forward and whispered in her ear. "Why? Give me one good reason and I might." I bit the curve of her neck, and she threw her head back. "Because... ahhh..." she moaned. "This is wrong." "Says who?" I tugged the string, and the robe fell open, leaving her completely bare before me. I stepped back slowly, staring at her body. Shit. **** contains very explicit details.
