Sold As Spare Parts: Claimed By Him Novel Cover

Sold As Spare Parts: Claimed By Him

At the altar, I was seconds from marrying Enzo, a feared Mafia Capo, when my mother stormed the aisle with illicit photos to brand me ruined. She presented my hidden twin, Sienna, as the pure replacement—and Enzo claimed her instead. But he didn't release me. In a soundproof room, he studied my face like a surgeon sizing up a transplant. My family had faked years of illness to drain my youth, then sold me as a spare donor for his scarred childhood sweetheart. Before he could cut, the ruling Don raided the estate, exposing an underground lab where Sienna already lay dead. Days later, my bankrupt mother begged on her knees. I felt nothing. "You signed the contract." I stepped past her and into the Don's car, dead to my toxic past.

Chapter 2

Gianna POV

He reached out, his thumb tracing the seam of my lower lip with a touch as cold as marble. “I only desire her future.”

The way he said “future” made my blood run cold. It was not a promise—it was a threat I could not yet decode, but my bones already knew.

The word future fell from his lips not as a promise, but as the clang of a heavy, iron‑barred gate swinging shut behind me. Each beat of my heart was a heavy, painful thud against my ribs, a frantic bird trapped in a cage of bone. Every survival instinct I possessed screamed that his promise was not a vow; it was a death sentence. He did not look at me like a man looking at a woman; he regarded me the way an anatomist might regard a specimen, with a chilling curiosity for the mechanics beneath the skin.

A few feet away, the triumphant curve of Rosa’s lips did not vanish, but froze. The muscles in her cheeks seemed to lock, a rictus of disbelief that held the shape of a smile but none of its life. She took a frantic step forward, nearly tripping over the hem of her own dress. “Why would a powerful Capo accept a woman with such a past?” she demanded, her voice climbing into a shrill register. She looked around the room, her voice rising to a hysterical pitch. “She must be blackmailing you! What kind of dangerous leverage does she hold over this family?”

The syndicate guests began to murmur, the low hum of their voices like the agitated drone of a disturbed hive. Enzo’s reputation for responding to disrespect with a severity that became legend was an article of faith in the underworld. The unnatural quiet that followed his declaration was therefore a violation of its physics. I saw older capos, men with faces like worn leather, exchange glances. A dangerous, absurd idea was taking root in their silence: that the feared Enzo Vitale, the butcher of Naples, had been blunted by a pretty face.

Rosa fell to her knees, clasping her hands together in a desperate plea. “I pledge my loyalty to you, Don Enzo,” she begged. “I will force the secrets from her. I will pull the truth from her myself.”

A bitter smile stretched across my face, cracking the thick veneer of makeup the stylists had applied hours ago. I realized then that the marriage my mother had so desperately tried to sabotage was actually a meticulously dug grave. She thought she was ‘saving’ me from a life of luxury by ruining my reputation; in truth, she was merely trying to speed up my execution.

Enzo stepped closer to me, his broad chest brushing against the lace of my bodice. He gently stroked my cheek, and his thumb, so deceptively gentle, sent a tremor down my spine. My toes curled inside my satin heels, gripping the insoles as if to anchor myself to the ground. “There is no blackmail, Rosa,” he said. He projected his voice so every Made Man in the ballroom could hear his smooth lie. “I insist on this union purely out of love at first sight.”

The ballroom erupted in a fresh wave of muted whispers. I saw men, their faces scarred from a hundred street brawls, hide their mouths behind their hands to conceal mocking sneers. They thought the feared Capo was a love‑struck fool, a man willing to be publicly humiliated for a scandal‑ridden bride. They thought he was weak.

I knew better. He was not weak; he was simply unmoored from reason.

Near the back of the dense crowd, a short, balding associate named Carlo stumbled forward. He held a half‑empty glass of amber‑hued whiskey, his face flushed and sweating profusely. “Love at first sight?” Carlo slurred, his words thick and unsteady. “We all know the real reason you want her face. We all know about the White Lotus—”

The word “face” hit me like a physical blow, linking to the club rumors I had tried to forget. Carlo’s drunken mention of “White Lotus” meant nothing clear, but it confirmed the whispers—there was a monstrous plan, and my face was the key.

Rosa lunged to her feet, her shriek interrupting him a second too late, a desperate attempt to drown out the damning sentence. She pointed at Enzo, her eyes wide with a new, frantic idea. “Break the betrothal! Marry my younger daughter instead!”

Rosa grabbed my arm and jerked me sideways, her fingernails digging deep into my skin. “She is pure and untouched,” she babbled. “A virgin who has never stepped foot in a nightclub!”

Her free hand came up, and the sharp crack of her palm against my cheek echoed in the sudden, absolute silence of the room. My head snapped to the side, and a slow, metallic warmth bloomed on my tongue. “Gianna has a hidden twin sister!” Rosa yelled to the crowd, her chest heaving with the effort. “She jealously hid her from the Capo’s sight because she knew Sienna was the better choice!”

Rosa turned toward the heavy oak doors at the entrance of the ballroom. “Come out, Sienna,” she commanded. “Show him what a real bride looks like.”

And I knew, in that moment, I had become nothing more than a defective product in their eyes. Then Enzo’s eyes found mine again—and he smiled.
