Chapter 8

"Master!!! Master!!!" Salvatore ran into Vincenzo's room, panting heavily. Vincenzo was busy setting up his weapons for the next mission. He turned in Salvatore's direction and stood up instantly as soon as he saw Salvatore soaked in blood. "Speak!" he instructed. "Master... Aurora... Marisol..." Before he could speak further, Vincenzo grabbed the gun on his bed, pulling on the trigger. "What the fuck happened to Marisol?" Salvatore flinched in fear. "No, Master, Marisol is fine, but she stabbed Aurora," Salvatore said, and Vincenzo ran out of his room instantly . Salvatore ran after him, thinking he was heading towards Aurora's room, but he passed her room and forcefully opened his daughter's door. He paused when he saw Salvatore was following him. "Tell Sasha to direct the mission. I'm staying back," he muttered. "The doctor is attending to Aurora," Salvatore blurted out before leaving. "He loves his daughter so much, poor Aurora." Salvatore mumbled "Marisol!!" Vincenzo yelled, and Marisol came out from her wardrobe with blood on her body. "Papa!" she whispered, dropping the knife and running to hug him tight. "Tell me," Vincenzo said, pausing and squatting down to her level. She hugged him tighter. "I hate her. She is not my mother... She is a fake mom," Marisol cried, hugging her dad. "She is your mom," Vincenzo whispered, but she shook her head. "No, she is not. Mom has green eyes, not blue. Mom will never run away from me," Marisol cried. "But that is your mother's face. Don't you believe your papa? He will never lie to you or bring anybody else that is not your mom," Vincenzo said, avoiding her eyes. "Dad... Whenever you tell a lie, you never look into the person's eyes. You're lying," Marisol cried. "Can you prove it?" Vincenzo whispered calmly. "What did your dad say about accusations?" "Whenever you don't have evidence for something, you better not say," they both said together, and he chuckled. Taking her room's cell phone from the wall, he dialed one of the maids' numbers. "Prepare her bath. I'm taking my little girl out to the field." "Yeeeee!" Marisol danced, jumping up. He chuckled lightly before touching her hair lightly. "Let the maid bathe you," Vincenzo said, touching her hair calmly. "No, Dad," Marisol yelled, holding him tight. "Okay, fine. I'll bathe you," he said, grabbing her hand. The maid came in to assist him. He washed her dirty hair with a sigh. "Alan, I won't spare you," he whispered, holding his fist. As soon as he stepped out with Marisol and one of her maids, he met Sasha sitting on Marisol's bed. The room was already well arranged. "I did that," Sasha said with a pout. "Go prepare the gang for the mission," he snapped, and Sasha flinched. "But, Papa, she's a nice..... Vincenzo glared at Sasha, stopping Marisol halfway. Sasha hurried out of the room, panting hard in anger. "Are you fine?" Salvatore asked, but she slapped him hard on the cheek. "Shut the fuck up, dry bones," she said. Salvatore held his cheek in surprise. *** Aurora moaned uncomfortably in pain, her eyes still shut, and her fist folded strongly. "She will be fine, right?" Ken asked the doctor. He had seen Salvatore carrying her and had followed, only to find her in this state. So, he chose to stay by her side. He touched her face lightly as soon as the doctor left and tried to open her fist, but she struggled unconsciously with him. It was obvious she was holding onto something. "What could that be?" he asked himself, staring at her. *** Vincenzo rode his horse down the field, leaving the empire. Marisol was sitting at the front, cheering happily. He wore a matching hat with his daughter. He smiled, staring as she spread her arms wide, hugging the breeze. "It always feels like this," he thought. "She wants him to always be like this with her, ever since Brielle left. But he has a lot of duties, even finding her mom is a part of it. But she wouldn't understand." "Papa, I want to listen to that," Marisol said with her soft voice, pointing at the man playing the harmonica. They stopped for a while, listening to the tune. Marisol suddenly turned around, and Vincenzo knew what she was about to do. "Sleep," he thought. He positioned Marisol and hugged her to his chest, riding the horse back to the villa. *** Aurora sniffed, opening her eyes. Night had come already, and she saw Salvatore staring at her. She sat up and groaned a little. Then she opened her palm and smiled at her rosary. She suddenly tied it around her wrist. "My lucky charm," she whispered, kissing it. She tried standing up but groaned a little. "You can't stand up. You haven't recovered," Salvatore said. "I'm going to see your stupid master. I can't do this anymore. She stabbed me, she fucking stabbed me. She's supposed to be in a psychiatric hospital, not here," Aurora yelled, holding her tummy and leaving. "Snake," Sasha called, and he turned to her... Aurora smirked dangerously as she walked towards Vincenzo's room. It was locked. She grabbed her hairpin and tampered with the hole again. The door opened, and she entered inside. Vincenzo West Pecaminoso, I will be your doom!!She whispered as She stared at her Rosary.... "Don't judge me, judge him..." He has broken almost all the Tenth commandment...She scoffed at no one. I'm about to break just one, She whispered to her rosary again opening one of his locker and bringing out a gun. She sat on his bed and whispered to the gun... "I will be your worst nightmare".

The man smiling in the silver frame on my vanity was the very same man who, in exactly three months, would wrap his hands around my throat. I knew this because I had already died. I had felt the freezing, silty water of the Hudson River fill my lungs while Alexander watched the life drain from my eyes, his mistress laughing in the background. I had hovered like a ghost above my own funeral, watching the betrayal continue even after my death. My mother, the perfect Mafia widow, stood stoically next to my killer, unaware she had sold her daughter to a butcher. My fiancé checked his watch, bored, waiting to liquidate my inheritance. But then I saw him. Darrian Golden. The Don of the rival clan. The enemy. He stood in the pouring rain, his expensive suit soaked through, staring at my coffin as if the world had ended. When the earth hit the wood, he didn't just cry; he roared in primal agony. My fiancé killed me, but my enemy was the only one who mourned me. "The Commission is waiting," my mother’s voice snapped the timeline back into place. She stood in my doorway, demanding I set the engagement date to secure the territory. She saw a charming Capo; I saw the rat who had cut my father's brake lines. In my first life, I was a trembling bird. In this life, I was the match that would burn the cage down. I smashed the photo frame against the marble table, the sound cracking through the room like a gunshot. "Contact the Golden Clan," I commanded. My mother went pale. "He is a savage, Azalea. He butchers men for sport." "Tell Don Golden that Azalea Kidd is offering a parley," I said, looking out the window at the city that would soon be ours. "Tell him I am offering the only thing he has ever wanted: Me."
