Chapter 1

The middle of the quiet night… Darkness adorns the streets of the city. People with lost hearts spread in the streets of the city… drunk…or even in their consciousness… the simple person sleeps with peace of mind or complete distress… the poor sleeps with hunger and need or happiness and sufficiency...and the palaces of the rich celebrate parties and gatherings, and lights fill the place…but the link between them is all waiting for the morning…

In one of those dazzling palaces, the lights illuminate the place, and the calm music paints the party.

I grabbed her hand and headed to the dance floor that was full of people… all dancing smoothly and comfortably…

He looked at her and put a smile on his lips.

You look gorgeous. Selena

She smiled shyly, looking into his calm blue eyes.

She looks handsome too.

He looked at her for a few seconds and then looked back at those present while she was smiling while she was standing in front of the man of her dreams.

A beautiful symphony of musicians ended. He withdrew from the dance circle, heading to his friend who was standing and had just entered the party, and he didn't care to leave her alone in that lovers' circle. She didn't care much. She got used to his cold behavior towards her since their association. She feels great happiness when she hears her light words of praise that she does not hear for a very long time. He is so busy with his work that he does not find time to meet her and talk to her. But her love for him forgives him his sins. Her love for him helps him in all this.

She walked towards him wearing her dazzling black dress. Long to cover her legs. It covers her shoulder on one side, and on the other hand, crystal threads adorn her bare shoulder. Her long black hair with a sexy brown sheen… Red lipstick makes her a princess on the throne of sedition.

I stood behind Louis, who was greeting his friend.

Good evening, Miss Selena. Have a nice evening.

Thank you, sir...!"

Zayn… Zayn Malik

Nice to meet you. Louis…you are really lucky to have a beautiful girl like Celina... Congratulations to you both. I can't wait to see you, Mrs. Tomlinson.

The blush on her cheeks made her more attractive. She felt ashamed just imagining that she was walking beside Louis as his wife. She secretly thanked Zain. Do not deny that Zain is much more handsome and charming than Louis... Very much… his black hair strewn across the front of his head... His beard draws a masculine line; he is handsome. His length… His shoulders alone make you feel intimidated… He was very handsome… Like Arab men… But no matter how handsome he arrives, Louis will remain the most beautiful person in her eyes.

I felt like leaving Louis and Zayn alone because they hadn't seen each other for a long time.

Excuse me, I will check on the guests.

Her gorgeous heroine, who competes with all the party girls, has moved away from them. There are those who hate her… and there are those who envy her… There are those who hate her. Every girl in this party wishes to stand with Mr. Tomlinson and Mr. Malik like this.

But Selena's share of beauty and wealth, they believe, was the reason for her attraction to the most handsome men in the world.

She went out to search for her brother Jeremy, who is years younger than her… but he is close to her and loves her very much, despite the problems surrounding the family…

Jeremy, what are you doing here?

I'm trying to stay away from your mother's bullying.

He answered her, frowning tightly and annoyed. She approached and sat next to him.

Gear, how many times do I have to warn you that it is wrong to leave our guests inside?

And I'm interested in having them.

I looked at Jeremy, who seemed like money to boil. Don't blame him; his mother's frequent meetings and her guests are from that class that is filled with brave greed. They are like a hungry society that seeks only money… seeks perfection rather…

I stood.

Come on, Jeremy, it looks like your dad came today… you don't know what explosion will happen…

Doesn't matter… did Louis come?

I let out a quiet sigh.

Yes, you will find it inside if you want.

Have you decided on the wedding location?

Yes, we have decided to set it up at the end of next month.

Aren't you in too much of a hurry?

He is right… but her love for him made her agree, as he was the one who suggested that to her… but Jeremy did not shut up.

Are you sure you know him well? You have to slow down a little.

Yes, we know each other very well…and we have taken enough time…we have been engaged for about a year…

She lied about something she knew. She felt that no matter how much she got to know him, she would remain ignorant of him. His cold feelings had never been unleashed on her. She looked into Jeremy's eyes and stood.

Let's go.

They entered the palace, where everyone was there. The servants worked like a beehive, and the guests were everywhere exchanging different conversations. She scanned the place with her eyes, looking for Louie, but she did not find him, but Zain was standing with her father.

It was not the custom of that class for a girl to come alone to a party like this. She had to have a partner with her. The men’s eyes devoured her with their hateful looks at her, and she was trying to avoid them all the time, looking for Louis. She felt someone clasping his arm to hers and whispered,

Louie warned me not to leave you alone...why do you walk like you're lost?

I looked at the owner of that majestic height and looked into his hazel eyes. It was Zayn.

Where is Louie?

He'll be right back. Go away from the middle and go to your father. If Louis saw the men's looks at you, he would kill them one by one.

Annoyed by his interference, she moved away from him, heading to her father, who called Jeremy to welcome guests with his two sons.

The Gilbert family went up to a place a little semi-high, and Sir John Gilbert's voice came out loud in the place.

Welcome all, gentlemen. Thank you for coming tonight, Nicole and I… have a good night.

Jeremy and Selena were not hidden from their mother Nicole's flaming glances at John. Her looks were a bad omen, as the alarm bells had sounded in the place since he came, so only Selena Jeremy and Nikon knew that his presence was a decisive challenge for Nicole.

Selena was able to distinguish Louis among the audience as he was talking to Zayn, so she walked towards him, and her arm ran between his.

Where have you been? Louie I've been looking for you all day long.

I was just making a simple phone call…when will everyone leave?

That quiet hour passed, and everyone left the palace. Only the Gilbert and Lowe family, who were out with Selena, were left.

I asked him as she retied his tie.

What do you think about having lunch with us tomorrow?

I have a lot of work...

I complained about his excessive interest in work.

Louie, you have to make our lives out of your work just a little bit!

He slipped her hands off his shirt and said softly, with a frozen expression,

If you want happiness, money, and luxury… I have to work.

I was shocked… does he really think she wants him for his money? I looked at him, begging.

Louie I don't want money; I'm happier. I want you...just you!

Do you convince me that you are different from the girls of your gender?

Gone...

He left, leaving her almost burning with rage. Why does he think this of her? She knows very well that tomorrow morning will not come unless she has forgiven him for his mistake... She knows how weak she is in front of him… She went back inside, where her parents exploded.

Each of them blames the other for attending the party… as if each of them sees his counterpart as a disgrace to him.

I left them in the midst of their quarrel and went up to her room to take a warm bath. Then she fell into a deep sleep.

The explosion tore through the factory with a deafening roar, sending a fireball into the sky that could be seen for miles. I felt the shockwave even from where I stood in the office building across the street, my coffee mug shattering on the floor as the windows rattled violently. "Anthony!" I screamed, already running toward the factory gates. My heart pounded in my chest as black smoke billowed into the air, carrying with it the acrid smell of burning chemicals and metal. Emergency vehicles swarmed the area within minutes, their sirens piercing the chaos. I pushed through the crowd of panicked workers, searching desperately for my husband among the injured being loaded into ambulances. "Cecelia!" Someone grabbed my arm. It was James Morrison, Anthony's business partner, his face smudged with soot. "Thank God you're okay. We need to find Anthony." We found him near what remained of the main production line, his clothes singed and his face streaked with ash.

"Honestly, six months and she still won't sleep with me." Julian's voice, but with an edge I'd never heard before. Cruel. Dismissive. My hand froze on the door handle. Slowly, I pushed the door open just a crack, my heart hammering against my ribs. The scene that greeted me felt like a physical blow. Julian stood between the legs of Miranda Chen, our department's marketing coordinator, who was perched on his desk like she owned it. Her auburn hair cascaded over her shoulders as Julian's hands tangled in it, their mouths locked together with the kind of passion he'd never shown me. "The religious prude is beautiful, but boring," Julian continued as they broke apart, his voice dripping with contempt. "It's time to trade up." Miranda laughed, a sound like breaking glass. "Poor little Elara. Does she actually think you're serious about her?" "Please. She's useful for now, but I need a woman who knows what she wants." Julian's hands roamed Miranda's thighs with practiced familiarity. "Someone who isn't afraid to take what she deserves." The compass slipped from my nerveless fingers.

On our wedding anniversary, I came home to find my husband, Jace, celebrating with another woman in our living room. She was wearing my mother's necklace-the only thing recovered from the explosion that killed my parents. Jace laughed, calling it a "cheap piece of junk," and tried to write me a check to buy a new one. His family called my parents' ashes "garbage" and "unsanitary." When I confronted them, Jace sided with his mother, ordering me out of the penthouse I secretly owned. He let his friends publicly humiliate me, calling me a gold-digging leech with no background. But that wasn't the worst of it. When a gunman stormed the restaurant we were in, Jace shoved me directly into the line of fire to shield his mistress. The shotgun blast tore through my arm. As I lay bleeding on the marble floor, I stared at the man who had just used me as a human shield, his face pale with terror as he protected her. In that instant, every ounce of love I ever had for him died. The pain in my arm was nothing compared to the cold, hollow void that consumed my heart. He thought he was sacrificing a quiet, useless wife to secure his future. He had no idea he had just declared war on Captain Cilla Henson, West Point valedictorian and the most lethal operator of the Eagle Task Force.

The fluorescent lights of City General Hospital buzzed overhead as I sat in the sterile consultation room, my hands folded tightly in my lap. Dr. Sarah Mitchell, a woman in her early thirties with kind eyes behind wire-rimmed glasses, sat across from me with my test results spread across her desk like pieces of a puzzle I didn't want to solve. "Mrs. Mills," she began, her voice gentle but firm. "I need you to understand the gravity of what I'm about to tell you." My heart hammered against my ribs. I'd come in for what I thought was a routine check-up—the persistent nausea, the fatigue I'd attributed to stress from my crumbling marriage. Danny had barely looked up from his phone when I mentioned the appointment. "You have stage two stomach cancer," Dr. Mitchell said, each word landing like a physical blow.

The civil affairs office buzzed with quiet anticipation, couples clutching identical folders of documents while stealing glances at each other with nervous smiles. I smoothed the fabric of my cream-colored dress for the hundredth time, the soft material chosen specifically for this moment—our moment. Seven years of waiting, of supporting Peter through his struggles, of believing in us, had led to this single morning. My fingers traced the edge of the marriage registration forms tucked safely in my purse. Everything was perfect, organized down to the last detail. I'd even brought backup copies of our documents, just in case. The clock on the wall showed 9:15 AM. Peter was only fifteen minutes late, probably stuck in traffic or dealing with some last-minute work crisis. "Next couple, please," called the clerk behind the counter. I watched as another pair stepped forward, their hands intertwined, faces glowing with excitement.
