She Called Me a Killer—I Proved Her Right
Chapter 3
Emma clearly hadn't expected the pregnant woman's family members to come up the stairs. Before she could react, the pregnant woman's husband grabbed her by the hair and dragged her to the hallway that still had bloodstains from his wife.
Emma screamed in agony.
"You witch! You think being an internet celebrity makes you special? You killed my wife and son, so today I'm sending you straight to hell!
"My whole family was finally blessed with a child, and you destroyed everything! Why didn't you die instead? You're a piece of trash!"
The other family members helped drag Emma around, hitting and kicking at her. They made so much noise that neighbors from nearby floors came out to watch.
Emma had always acted superior to everyone, so all the neighbors hated her. When they heard she had killed someone, seeing her get beaten made them cheer.
"This little witch always acted like she was so high and mighty. She totally deserves this!"
"In the six months since she moved in, how many of our food deliveries did she steal? Now they finally caught her!"
"The poor woman was seven months pregnant and about to give birth. Both mother and child are now gone. It's such a tragedy!"
"These internet celebrities really think having a little more money makes them so important!"
Emma got beaten black and blue. All she could do was keep shouting that she wasn't the one who killed anyone. "It wasn't me! I'm just the sister of an internet celebrity!"
During a brief pause in the beating, Emma pulled out her ID and her expired preschool teacher ID. Then she opened up the verified account page of my social media profile.
"Sir, the popular internet celebrity you're looking for is Anna Anderson. I'm her twin sister, Emma, and I'm just a preschool teacher. Your dispute has nothing to do with me!"
The pregnant woman's husband took the phone to look at my livestreams. He compared yesterday's outfit of the person who pushed his wife to what I wore in my videos. They were identical, so he temporarily let her go.
However, the man was still staring at Emma suspiciously. Seeing this, Emma immediately scrambled to her feet to call me. "Let me call the real culprit over here for you."
After saying that, she gave me a call. Her face flashed with irritation when I didn't answer, and she muttered curses about me dropping the ball at such a crucial moment.
I found it amusing. Just how vicious could Emma be? She was losing her mind, trying to make me die in her place.
Watching her frantic appearance, I finally walked out. Looking at Emma's bruised and swollen face, I pretended to be shocked and concerned.
"What happened here? Emma, who did you offend?"
Emma didn't answer as she glared at me, her eyes full of resentment. "Anna, I heard you stole someone's food delivery yesterday and killed our next-door neighbor. This gentleman came looking for you. That's two lives lost! How could you be so heartless?
"Why are you wearing a face mask? You're feeling guilty, aren't you?"
When the pregnant woman's husband heard I was the killer, his eyes turned bloodshot as he raised his knife to strike me. "So you're the murderer! Today I'm making you pay with your life!"
Fortunately, I had been staying alert. When the man swung his knife down, I dodged to the side.
I looked confused as I asked, "Sir, what are you talking about? I'm just an online seller. I've been in Calford this whole week, selecting products. I think you've got the wrong person."
The pregnant woman's husband thought I was trying to make excuses and cursed at me. "You lying bitch! Still denying the truth, even at death's door?
"I have surveillance video of you killing her, bragging about being some big internet celebrity, Anna Anderson! If it's not you, then who is it?"
Emma chimed in from the side, "Anna, if you did something wrong, just admit it. You know what they say. It's never too late to do the right thing."
Just when everyone was certain that I was the killer, I looked at Emma, who was secretly gloating nearby, and asked, "Emma, what are you talking about? You're the one who's always lived in this apartment. What does anything that happened here have to do with me?"
