Chapter 9
Third Person's Point of View
How many points did Emerald lose when Jude left her dumbfounded? Emerald's hands turned into a fist as she glared upstairs-exactly where Jude's office was.
"That shithead, diabolical disabled man!" Emerald couldn't stop from cursing him a lot.
Meanwhile, Jude is inside the said office. He was in a deep thought, contemplating whether Aileen is an ally or an adversary. He did not like what she had spoken back at the office earlier. If Aileen could bully him right now, what more is Emerald's mom willing to do?
'Disabled?' Jude remarked in his head, smirking to himself.
He watched Emerald closely. He saw Emerald's gentleness regardless of their past discussion. Despite Emerald's anger fueling her madness, she remained compassionate towards him.
He didn't know he's already smiling whilst watching Emerald cook in the kitchen. Jude immediately erased the smile on his lips by tapping his mouth, forced to straighten his lips as he admired Emerald's beauty.
His office is on the second floor. It wasn't made up of solid blocks but rather glass. Jude can see the whole mansion just by peeking at it but people who are outside couldn't see what's inside. Jude personally picked these glass barriers so he can check his visitors who's worthy enough to entertain.
"I can't let you go, Emerald," Jude affirmed to himself whilst his wife was already preparing for their dinner.
Emerald is the type of person who's quiet, and doesn't fight back. That's a trait Jude hates a lot about her. She couldn't stand tall and fight for herself. At first, Jude doesn't care about it but as her bullies began to come back everyday, Jude constantly fought for her.
When they were still children, their relationship was perfectly fine. Jude often tutors the Campbell sisters specially Emerald who's weak at math. Their relationship went off the brink when Jude was proclaimed to inherit his father's company and shocking events about business, marriage went public.
Jude didn't know he's staring at her for a while now. He was disturbed by a mere appearance behind. Aside from their family, one person also knew his marriage with Emerald Campbell and it's his secretary who worked for him a long time.
Antonette Andrews stood firmly behind, disturbing the peace Jude wanted.
"You called for me, sir," Antonette affirmed.
Jude turned around and saw the woman. Slowly, he got up from his seat and took a glass. He poured a small amount of alcohol in it then shook the glass a bit.
His tie was loosened. Jude took a step forward towards Antonette and her face showed no confusion and astonishment.
"Your legs are getting better, Mr. Sanders."
He smirked. "What do you mean? My legs have always been better."
Antonette chuckled. "My apologies. Perhaps I got used to the news saying you can't work after the accident."
Antonette has been working for five years under Jude's wing. She became a trusted and loyal employee under him. No one would last six months as Jude's secretary. He could have eight secretaries in one year until he met Antonette. There is something she has that Jude couldn't let go off.
She works according to Jude's likes as if Antonette studied his every move. Jude was suspicious of her a little but Antonette effortlessly showed she just works professionally and has no emotional grounds against him.
"Is it really advisable to walk freely here in your office when Mrs. Sanders is downstairs?" Antonette expressed her worry.
Emerald and Jude have boundaries they must abide by. Jude emphasized it beforehand Emerald moved in with him. He clearly knew Emerald wouldn't barge inside his office unattended, it's not her thing and she wouldn't like it if Jude would do the same.
Both of them equally respected their privacy. All of these are for their companies though.
Jude shook his head and glanced at Antonette. "Recently, a kidnapping happened. Emerald was attacked by an unknown man. Have you already located the perpetrator? Use my connections as much as you like. I want an answer as soon as possible."
Antonette bowed a little and said, "Not yet, Mr. Sanders. The team is still working on it."
Jude gently closed his eyes. His veins protrude in his neck- a sign that he might lose his temper. Antonette already got what he meant.
"I'll try to have an answer within this day." She affirmed, bowing her head, a little anxious about the problem.
"You can go."
Emerald and Antonette interacted as his secretary made his leave. Aside from business related matters, his secretary also has some jobs out of her scope. Aside from all the people he has around, only Antonette he can trust. She's a loyal employee, and she's clean when she works.
There is some debris of doubt inside Jude's heart at first. He ran a background check and nothing appears to be suspicious aside from Antonette having brothers and being an orphan at a young age. Day by day, he began to start trusting him as Antonette does a great job.

Thirty minutes had passed, Jude immediately received a call from his secretary. Unfortunately, an incident occured at the West Bridge Virginia- an under construction site.
"No wonder the perpetrator decided to take her there because there's no CCTV around. It seems like it's planned, Mr. Sanders."
Jude's hand turned into a fist. He clenched his jaws as he closed his eyes gently.
"Anything else?"
Antonette spoke. "A lot of cars are still pushing through the bridge as it has been tagged as under construction in the morning. But the construction workers made sure to clear the vehicles before they could pass the bridge. We noticed something unusual too."
"What is it?"
"We haven't seen anyone leaving the site even a day after the incident."
It was excruciating to hear about it. Jude drove Antonette to continue investigating until they could find a lead about Emerald's perpetrator. He ordered Antonette to send the CCTV to him so he could examine himself when he was cut mid short due to a knock on the door.
"Dinner is ready. Can I come in? Your dinner is ready." Emerald's soft voice behind closed doors made Jude bear a heavy heart.
Jude spoke between the lines. "We'll talk tomorrow," and immediately ended the call.
Jude went back to his wheelchair. Instead of telling her to come in, Jude himself opened the door for Emerald. Her eyes widened, astounded as to why would Jude open the door. Normally, Emerald is the one who comes inside and drops his food. It's so unusual for him to open it up.
"I'll eat downstairs." He affirmed that Emerald's heart raced fast.

The harsh glare of the spotlight hit Harper's custom wedding dress as she smiled at her groom.
But a single phone call from his mistress, Lila, made Chase violently shove his way down the aisle and sprint out of the hotel.
He left Harper to face the flashing cameras and the mockery of hundreds of guests.
Her mother-in-law dragged her into a hallway and slapped her hard across the face.
"You cannot even keep your own man in the room. You are making a mockery of this family."
When Harper rushed to the hospital, Chase blamed her for Lila's theatrical, fake miscarriage.
He threatened to pull every cent of capital from Harper's investment firm if she dared to walk away.
The Young family then used the media to frame Harper, turning her into a public pariah who viciously "killed" an unborn child.
Mobbed by ruthless paparazzi, Harper was pushed into the freezing rain, her knees bleeding on the concrete.
She couldn't accept that her entire life and career were being destroyed by a mistress's pathetic lie.
When Chase later tried to buy her silence with a pink diamond—the exact same one he had just gifted Lila—her remaining love turned to absolute ice.
But fate intervened when she was rescued from the mob by Antoni Donovan, the most ruthless billionaire on Wall Street and her biggest corporate rival.
Discovering that Antoni was actually her best friend's older brother, a dangerous smile spread across Harper's face.
She picked up his gold-lettered business card.
She was done being the victim; she was going to use the wolf of Wall Street to crush her ex-husband.

Elliana Lewis lay dying on the freezing concrete of a federal penitentiary, her ribs shattered by a guard's heavy boot.
She had been flawlessly framed for murder by the one person she trusted with her life: her sweet, innocent stepsister, Jovita.
During her final prison visit, Jovita wore their mother's diamonds and smiled cruelly behind the glass. She revealed she had liquidated the family company, caused their father's stroke, and paid the guards to ensure Elliana suffered a grueling, agonizing death.
"Your marriage was a joke from day one, Ellie. You have nothing left."
As her lungs stopped, the tragic truth finally dawned on Elliana. She had spent months screaming for a divorce and publicly humiliating her billionaire husband, Damon Stirling, believing his silence was weakness. She didn't realize until it was too late that his endless tolerance was the deepest form of protection. She had pushed away the only man who would have burned the world down to keep her safe.
Why had she been so incredibly stupid? Why did she blindly trust a monster and destroy the only person who truly loved her?
Then, a blinding light pierced her retinas. Elliana bolted upright, gasping for air on a massive, king-sized bed.
There was no pain. No broken bones. The digital clock on the nightstand flashed a date from exactly ten years ago.
It was the morning after her disastrous wedding night.
This time, she would tear Jovita's life apart piece by piece. And she would hold onto Damon so tightly that nothing could ever pry them apart.

I was pregnant with the future heir of the Blackwood Pack, but my fated mate, Alpha Gavin, was nowhere to be found when sharp, tearing agony ripped through my swollen belly.
Instead of rushing to my side, he was in a luxury penthouse with his mistress, Piper.
When I desperately called his human number for help, it was Piper who answered the phone.
"I'm Piper. His future Luna."
Minutes later, I received a leaked audio file of Gavin promising to formally reject me the moment our pup was born.
Before the heartbreak could even set in, my armored SUV was violently rammed off the road by a massive truck.
It wasn't an accident. It was a targeted hit paid for by Piper's pack.
I woke up in the clinic with an empty womb. My pup was dead.
Gavin didn't even show up. He just mind-linked the butler to say he was "too busy" to deal with my loss.
He let his mistress murder our child and treated me like disposable trash, assuming my grief would make me a weak, compliant victim.
He thought he could just bury my trauma and move on with his perfect new life.
He was wrong.
I faked my own death in a fiery crash, leaving him with nothing but my signed rejection papers and the bloody receipt proving his mistress hired the killers.
Now, armed with a new identity and untraceable wealth, I am stepping out of the shadows.
I am going to bankrupt their packs from the inside out and make my former Alpha watch his empire burn.

Aileen transmigrated into a dark, unfinished novel as the villainous, abusive wife of a powerful billionaire.
The moment she opened her eyes, her husband's calloused hand was crushing her throat, and her six-year-old stepson was pointing a box cutter at her face, screaming for her to die.
A cold system voice suddenly exploded in her brain, forcing a mandatory mission: save the villainous father and son, or face immediate death.
To survive the system's strict Out-Of-Character warnings, Aileen had to keep playing the role of the deranged, hateful wife.
She was despised by everyone. Her husband threatened to drag her to an asylum, and her terrified stepson scrubbed the floor with his own pajamas just to avoid her wrath.
Things escalated when the novel's original female lead publicly framed Aileen in Central Park, throwing herself onto the grass and clutching her pregnant belly.
"She pushed me. She tried to hurt the baby!"
Archer rushed over, shoved Aileen aside with absolute disgust, and looked at her with the eyes of a murderer.
Aileen felt a bitter wave of exhaustion. She had discovered the original owner's hidden antipsychotic pills; the woman wasn't just evil, she was severely mentally ill and completely broken by this loveless marriage.
Yet, no one cared, and her husband would always choose to believe his childhood sweetheart's fake tears.
Since everyone in this world was convinced she was an unpredictable lunatic, she decided to give them exactly what they expected.
Aileen turned her back on the ridiculous scene, a cold smile forming on her lips.
She was going to stage a massive, undeniable psychological breakdown, using her "insanity" as the perfect shield to play the system and rewrite her fate.

I was rushed to the emergency room with a bleeding head after a horrific car crash.
But while the doctor was stitching my forehead, I heard the nurses whispering.
"The CEO of the Finley Group is upstairs right now, playing nurse to that pregnant actress."
My heart stopped. I ripped out my IV and dragged my battered body to the VIP suite, only to watch my billionaire husband tenderly wipe away his mistress's tears.
I filed for divorce that night and left his penthouse with nothing but a basic suitcase.
Carter was furious. He tracked me down, completely ignoring my injuries, and mocked me relentlessly.
"You're nothing but a breeding tool. You won't survive a week without my money."
When I later collapsed from severe stomach cramps, he abandoned me on the floor because his mistress faked a panic attack over the phone. He even nearly ran me over in the freezing rain as he sped back to her side.
I had loved him in secret for ten agonizing years, pouring my bleeding heart into a novel about my unrequited love. I couldn't understand how a man could be so incredibly cold-blooded to his own wife.
But Carter didn't know I was the anonymous author of that global bestselling book.
So when he tried to use his massive wealth to buy the film rights and give his mistress the lead role, I walked straight into his boardroom, slammed my contractual veto on the table, and finally fought back.
