Second Chance Mate Regretted

Second Chance Mate Regretted

I'm Margot Blake. For 8 years, I've been bound to Jaxon Calloway-my enemy-tormented by him over my sister Lauren and his brother Henry's deaths . When I get late-stage liver cancer (3 weeks left), Jaxon still humiliates me, even auctioning a night with me. I endure his cruelty, from forcing unbinding potions to making me kneel on glass, while he fawns over Aubrey (a Lauren look-alike). As I near death, I visit Henry and Lauren's shrine, then my estranged parents, before going to the lake where the crash happened and jumping in. Jaxon ignores the enforcers' calls about my death until he sees my body. Overwhelmed with guilt, he punishes Aubrey, honors my wish to care for my parents, and eventually kills himself. Reborn, we all get a second chance.

Chapter 3

"I've got a liver thing," I croaked, my voice barely holding together. "I know my own body, so don't bother filling him in." I turned my face away, dodging Jaxon's gaze. "He doesn't care." Jaxon let out a cold laugh, his tone flat as a frozen lake. "You're right. Your health's got nothing to do with me. Just don't die on me yet." He turned to leave, but his phone buzzed. "Jaxon, where are you? I miss you." Aubrey's syrupy voice oozed through the speaker. He glanced at my hospital bed, a smirk curling his lips. "At the healer's den. Miss me? Come over." He hung up and looked at me, his smile sharp and mocking. "Didn't you say you wanted me to stick around for these Three weeks, Margot? Well, wish granted." Not long after, Aubrey breezed in. She froze when she saw me, then quickly sidled up to Jaxon, all sweet and docile. He pulled her close, his arm snaking around her waist, and kissed her like I wasn't even there. Aubrey melted into him, their lips locked in a shameless display, completely ignoring me on the bed. My face drained of color, nausea churning in my gut. I grabbed the glass from the bedside table and hurled it at them. "Get the hell out! Don't make me gag!" Jaxon spun fast, shielding Aubrey with his back. The glass shattered, a shard grazing her cheek, leaving a thin red line. "Jaxon." Aubrey clutched her face, tears spilling instantly. "My face." His eyes narrowed, his expression darkening like a storm cloud. He scooped her up in his arms, his voice carrying a panic I'd never heard before. "Don't touch the cut!" "Get the top skin healer!" he barked at the guard by the door. "No, get a chopper and fly in the best experts from other packs-now!" I slumped against the bed, watching Jaxon rush out with Aubrey in his arms, his frantic shouts echoing down the hall. "Use the best meds! No scars, you hear me?" My heart felt like it was being carved up with a dull blade. I glanced at my hand, littered with needle marks, and let out a bitter laugh. How pathetic. Aubrey's just a shadow of Lauren, and he's losing his mind over a scratch. Me? His actual mate? I can't even get a glance. Another wave of pain twisted through my liver. I curled up, cold sweat soaking my hospital gown. I spent days in that healer's den. Endless pills, countless needles, and pain like a knife grinding in my gut. I was wasting away, my hair falling out in clumps. Even the nurses couldn't stand it, slipping me extra painkillers on the sly. Then today, Jaxon stormed in, his face like thunder. He yanked me off the bed. "Aubrey's face was nearly ruined," he growled. "Bet you're thrilled, huh?" I struggled weakly. "It was just a scratch." "Shut up!" he snapped, cutting me off. "You dared touch my she-wolf, Margot. Now you pay." Before I could react, Three guards grabbed me, dragging me to the stairwell. The floor was littered with jagged glass shards, glinting under the lights.

Reborn to Refuse The Lord

I came with a mission to kill the Lord of the empire, Mark. "Lara, I am pleased with you." Fireworks bloomed above us as I looked down at Mark kneeling on one knee. The dagger hidden in my sleeve almost slipped from my grasp. "Are you willing to marry me as my wife, from now on, for a lifetime?" "Yes." The system's alarm rang sharply in my mind, urging me to complete my mission, but I still chose to move forward without hesitation. Reality, however, was far crueler than I expected. "Lara, as Mark's wife, you must not leave the palace for three years and, when the time comes, gracefully step down." "Okay," I answered lightly, just as I had agreed to his proposal. That night, flames swallowed my courtyard, the fire blazing high enough to erase everything I had endured. I thought it was my end. But when I opened my eyes, I was back to the day he proposed. The same fireworks. The same man on one knee. Only this time, Mark's eyes were filled with tears as he held my hand and whispered, "Lara, don't go."

The Reborn Heiress: Betting On Chaos

I woke up gasping for air, my fingers clawing at a neck that was smooth instead of bruised. The air smelled of lavender and expensive starch, not the metallic tang of blood and the mold of the basement where I had just died. A text flashed on my phone from Derrick, the man I thought was the love of my life: "Good morning, my angel. I can't wait to see you tonight." The heart emoji mocked me, a remnant of a girl who was once stupid, blind, and pathetically in love. In my past life, I was the perfect, submissive fiancée. I didn't realize the "vitamins" Derrick gave me were actually a cocktail of drugs designed to keep me foggy and compliant while he and my own uncle dismantled my father’s company. I stood by him as my parents died in a "car accident" that I now know was a murder he orchestrated. By the time I realized I was married to the devil, he had already stripped me of my wealth, my family, and finally, my breath. I stared at the gold-embossed calendar on the vanity: June 12, 2014. The day of our engagement party. The day I originally signed my life away to a monster who saw me as nothing more than a bank account to be drained. I felt a cold, sharp rage replace the terror. I wasn't going to be the victim this time. I wasn't going to take his pills or wear the modest, pastel dress he chose to make me look like a saint. "I need a match," I whispered to the most dangerous man in the city, Branch Brewer, as I gripped his tie in a hotel hallway. "I want to spend your money until Derrick chokes on it. I want to watch his empire crack." Reborn on the morning of the gala, I’ve traded my white lace for black silk. The guest list is set, the press is waiting, and Derrick thinks he’s about to win it all. He has no idea that the "fragile" girl he murdered is back to burn his world to the ground.
