SCARRED HEART
"C'mon, move it!" I whisper-yelled at Amber amidst the burning flames and smoke even though I could see that she was exhausted.
"I'm tired!" She whispered back. "I'm also exhausted and in pain but do you see me slacking off? You got me in this mess in the first place so don't you dare play the tired card." I said to her angrily not bothering to keep my voice quiet anymore.
We heard cracking sounds and looked to the direction the sounds came from. One of the pillars holding the warehouse broke away and was falling towards Amber.
"Watch out!!!" I yelled and pushed her out to the other side of the direction the pillar was falling to.
"Ahhhhhhhh!" I screamed from a searing pain from my ankle.

Chapter 2
I woke up to screaming the next morning. Groaning, I went outside in my pyjamas to check what was happening. I found Amber outside with a furious expression on her face.
"Jeez Amber, it's 11 in the morning and you are already waking up the neighbourhood with your screaming as an alarm. What crawled up your ass this beautiful morning", I yawned.
"My car is ruined. You destroyed my lovely baby." She looked at my wrist "you are not even wearing a watch so how did you know that the time is 11am?" she cried.
I looked at the car's headlight and I saw that the left one is smashed and the side of the car has a dent. "Babe it's just a dent and a broken headlight so don't sweat it much. Okay if I fix it, will it make you happy?"
"You know that fixing it will cost you a lot right? It doesn't come cheap" she raised one of her eyebrows.
"Oh puh-lease, how much is it gonna cost that I can't afford. It's just a tiny dent on a lamborghini."
***************
"What?!!!! For the car repairs??? eighteen hundred??? Are you shitting me right now?" I asked the mechanic with a bewildered look on my face.
"Working on your Lamborghini is expensive. You have an expensive car and you don't want to work on it," the man said.
"It's not mine, look just reduce the price ok?" I pleaded. "It can't be reduced, young lady."
"Fine. So when do I come back for the car?" I asked.
"Come by four to pick it up," he answered.
I left and went back home by bus. I met Amber all dressed up, ready to go out.
"Where are you going?"
I asked her:
"my parents wanted to see me." She replied.
"Any problem?"
"Nah. I don't think so. My car's location is?" I frowned at her.
"The mechanic's workshop. The repairs cost me eighteen hundred."
She laughed, picked up her purse and went out the door.
"Look at her, she didn't even show any concern for the money I spent." I muttered.
I went to my room to change and take a nap.
*****************
When I woke up, I saw that the time was fifteen minutes past four.
I grabbed my phone and rushed to the bus stop.
I boarded the bus to the workshop, paid the mechanic and drove the car back home.
Seeing as Amber wasn't back home yet, I ordered some pizza.
Few minutes after the pizza arrived, she came home looking gloomy.
"Hey what's wrong?" I asked.
"I don't wanna talk about it." She replied.
"Okay, I won't push you but when you are ready to talk, I will be waiting."
I gave her a smile. She nodded and went to her room.
I ate some pizzas and kept the remaining in the fridge and then went to my room to sleep.
***********************
I rushed to class trying to get there early. I looked at my watch
"Ah shit, I have five fucking minutes to get to class. Thanks Amber." I muttered.
I picked up on my pace and started running. Bumping into people in the hallways and saying sorry's to them.
By the time I got to my class entrance, I was sweating slightly and panting really hard. I looked at my watch and saw that I was on time.
I walked into the lecture hall and went to sit in the middle of the front row. Few minutes later, Professor Stewart walked in.
"Good afternoon students, hope you all have your assignments done. Submit it now."
I got up to submit my assignment and went back to my seat.
"Okay today, we will be working on Pride and Prejudice."
I put my ear plugs into my ear and played *Hello* by Adele, putting it on high volume thereby blocking out whatever the prof was saying.
I was always ahead of the class in literature. I ain't that bright but I still manage to stand among the best students in class. My parents wanted me to study Business so that I would have knowledge on how to handle stuff when I take over the company from them.
My parents who were the CEOs of Grey Group wanted me to be perfect because I was the heiress. They had subsidiaries located in every state in the country producing electronics, automobiles, mobiles, food products, you name it. They also had a kindergarten, elementary, high school and also a university built and they are schools that only the wealthy can afford to register their kids in.
Throughout my years of schooling from kindergarten to high school, I was treated with care and respect. Was always surrounded by rich snobby kids who wanted to befriend me. The press were always following my every movement and activity, teachers dare not cross me for fear of losing their jobs.
I hated it all. I wanted to live an invisible life. A life which people would ignore me like I don't exist. So I applied to NYU and when my letter of admission to study literature came, I showed it to My parents. They became furious with my decision. I still remember my father's words back then. "How could you betray us like this? Because of you, we built schools and employed the finest teachers in the world so that you can learn from the best and yet you applied to New York to study literature?!!" he yelled. "I do not want to set my eyes on you again, get out!!!"
So I packed my things and left for New York. Adopted the American accent, changed my last name and my looks.
Four years. I haven't heard or seen my parents in four years. Heard they made my younger brother the heir a year after I left. His name is Karl and he was eight when I left.
People wondered where Megan Grey was and what had happened to her. But that was in the past now. The former blonde haired, pale skin and blue eyed Megan Grey is now tanned skinned Megan Stone with blue eyes and dark brown hair with red highlights working three jobs to survive, a waitress at an Italian restaurant, evening shifts at a cafe and sometimes a babysitter for Mrs Iginio, who is the wife of the owner of the restaurant I worked in.
Amber doesn't know who I used to be. I told her that my parents died in a car accident when I was fifteen. I am happy with who I am now. I finally got to live the invisible life I've always wanted.
"Hey, class is over. Hey" I felt a nudge on my shoulder so I looked over to my left and saw a guy looking at me with amusement. I removed my earplugs from my ear and looked at him again. "You zoned out immediately you had those things in your ear." He said, pointing to the earplugs in my hand. "I'm Andrew." He stretched out his hand for a handshake. I shook his hand and rose up to leave. "Hey, you didn't tell me your name." I ignored him and left the hall.
I made a stop at Starbucks to order a cup of cappuccino. After getting it, I walked home while taking sips from my drink since the distance from there to my home is a twenty minute walk.
When I got home, I went to take a shower. Afterwards, I went to the kitchen to prepare noodles to eat. My phone started ringing so I went to the sitting room to pick it up. Looking at the caller ID, I saw that it was Mrs Iginio calling.
"Good afternoon Stella. How are you?" I asked. "I'm fine my dear and you?"
"I'm doing great over here."
"I called to ask if you are free this evening to babysit the children. There's this dinner party that an old friend of my husband organised and we have to attend."
"Yeah I am not busy this evening. What time should I blast your house with my presence?" I asked.
"Seven thirty my dear and please don't blast my house with your presence" she laughed.
I chuckled "Okay Signora, I won't be late" she laughed and ended the call. I went back to the kitchen to check if my noodles were cooked. Seeing that it was done getting cooked, I served it on a plate and took it along with me to the sitting room. I switched in the TV and saw that a fashion show was being shown so I settled down on the couch and started eating my noodles while watching the fashion show.

I was three million dollars in debt, forced by my agent to star in a reality show as the brainless gold-digger who married a decrepit billionaire.
But right before the live broadcast, as I touched the tacky neon dress I was supposed to wear, a violent vision struck my brain.
I realized my entire life was a script, and I was just a villainous side character designed to make America's Sweetheart look like a saint.
My agent was secretly taking payouts from her PR firm to deliberately ruin my reputation with endless hate traffic.
If I followed his orders today, I would be torn apart by the internet, lose every contract, and eventually die alone in a cheap motel.
I couldn't accept that my every fake smile and stupid decision had been manipulated to destroy me just to elevate someone else.
Why should I let them sell me out and turn my life into a complete joke?
Looking at the ugly pink dress, I threw it straight into the trash.
"You are fired, and my lawyers will be in touch about your offshore accounts."
I poured a glass of freezing water over my head to wash away the heavy makeup and the helpless persona I had worn for years.
I kicked out my backstabbing agent, put on a pair of plain black leggings, and walked out to face the live cameras.
To hell with the script. Today, I was going to expose this fake PR marriage myself.

"Impotent?"

Aiden wouldn't let her go.

I sat at a table for two in the center of Le Coucou, clutching a gift box that had cost me two months of savings. It was our three-year anniversary, and I was waiting for Gavin to finally ask the big question.
But when the heavy oak doors opened, Gavin didn't walk toward me with a ring. He walked in with a polished blonde heiress tucked under his arm, her hand resting protectively over a small baby bump.
"This is Tiffany Stone. My fiancée," he said, his voice devoid of any warmth. He didn't apologize for being late or for the three years we'd spent together. Instead, he pulled out a checkbook, scribbled a number, and slid a ten-thousand-dollar check across the white tablecloth.
"Consider it severance for your time," he added, as Tiffany mocked my cheap drugstore dress. "Don't contact me again. Tiffany doesn't need the stress." I was the entertainment for the entire restaurant—the pathetic girl dumped for a better model. By the time I walked out into the rain, I had lost my boyfriend, my home, and the funding for my secret medical research project.
I was an orphan with no safety net, facing an eviction notice and a ruined career. I had given Gavin everything, and he had discarded me like a broken tool. The injustice burned in my chest, a hot, sharp rage that replaced my tears.
Desperate and freezing, I ducked into a coffee shop where I met Colton Bentley, a reclusive billionaire in a wheelchair. After I defended him from a cruel date, he offered me a contract: a marriage of convenience and a seven-figure payment to act as his shield. I signed the papers that night, ready to use his wealth to rebuild my life. But as I watched my new husband navigate his penthouse, I noticed his "paralyzed" legs tense with a strength that shouldn't exist.

He was born from the void between stars - a being of immense power, forged from cosmic origins.
For thousands of years, he walked among humanity, protecting them and keeping his true strength hidden. After losing the only family he had, grief led him to seek his own end... only to wake up in a world entirely unlike his own.
Here, cultivation is the main path to power. Those who master spirit qi gain superhuman strength, speed, and abilities that place them far above ordinary people. Four great sects rule the land, competing for resources, secrets, and dominance over each other.
Icaros joined the Li Sect, where he found companions he came to trust and care for: the capable and easygoing Li Han, the sharp and composed Su Yan, and the spirited Nelly. For a time, he felt he had found a place to belong, even as he kept his true nature hidden and wondered whether he could ever learn to cultivate like those around him.
Everything changed when their voyage was suddenly attacked. A powerful figure floating in the sky cut their ship apart with sharp, devastating energy strikes, leaving only destruction in his wake. Believing his friends had been lost in the disaster, Icaros chose to stop holding back any longer.
> "I am done hiding!"
He unleashed his full power: golden light blazed from his eyes, he flew at incredible speed, and he broke through every barrier and enemy in his way. On the shores ahead, he tore through hordes of powerful jade monsters, destroying them completely before flying deep into the interior of the island.
Meanwhile, survivors washed up scattered and alone. One young cultivator found himself on the shores of Jade Island - a place most cultivators avoid, as it holds no treasures or useful materials, only danger and endless deposits of ordinary jade. Yet despite the risks, ordinary people have built settlements here, finding safety from the conflicts and power struggles of the outside world.
This island works by different rules. Spirit qi is scarce and unstable, making cultivation far less effective than elsewhere. Instead, the people here rely on advanced technology - weapons and explosives that can injure or even defeat those with great physical strength. Here, skill and preparation can be just as powerful as raw strength, and even the strongest cultivators must move with caution.
Now, Icaros has vanished deep into the island. His companions are lost somewhere across this dangerous land. And the mysterious swordsman who destroyed their ship has already arrived here, searching for an ancient map said to lead to the legacy of a being from another world.
Will they find each other again? And can anyone survive in a place where the usual rules of power no longer hold true?

After divorcing my cheating husband, I thought I had found my savior in his powerful business partner, Cole.
For three years, he pampered me like a queen, building a perfect, golden cage of devotion.
But on the day I happily discovered I was pregnant, I overheard him talking to my ex-husband's mistress.
"Elinor is just a convenient tool. If she gets pregnant, I'll fake a paternity test and annul the marriage so she leaves with nothing."
My entire marriage was a meticulously crafted lie to secure his position and protect the woman he truly cared about.
Before I could quietly escape, Cole orchestrated a brutal attack.
I was dragged into a dark alley, beaten until my ribs fractured, and my unborn child was violently ripped away from me.
As I lay bleeding out in the freezing rain, my heart shattered into dust.
I didn't understand how the man who kissed me every morning could coldly order his thugs to beat me to death just to appease his real lover.
They left me there to rot, thinking they had finally erased the naive fool who got in their way.
Three years later, the world still believes Elinor Marsh died in a tragic car accident.
But when Cole and his elite circle attend a high-profile Interpol reception, they don't expect the new Chief Liaison Officer to step onto the stage.
