LILA
A loud scream escapes my lips when the wolf tears into my skin causing blood to rush out.
"Please let me go!" I beg but I soon understand there's no hope for me as it starts to laugh at me while biting my flesh and soon after, its friends join along.
"Foolish girl, you had the audacity to enter our territory," one snarls.
They rip me to shreds and the last thing I hear is the crack of my neck before my heart gives out and I finally embrace death.

I shield my eyes from the bright light of the room and squint when I finally manage to open them.
How am I alive and where the hell am I ? Are the first thoughts that fill my mind when I look around the unfamiliar bedroom.
"Ow," I mutter and the door to the room bursts open and confusion snakes down my spine as I see my best friend Andrea and my cousin Nicolas rush towards me.
If I'm able to see them then it could mean only one thing...
The Moon Goddess gave me another chance to live !
"Oh my God Lila, Thank the Goddess you're finally awake!" Andrea says, squashing me with her arms.
"Girl, you gave us a scare, you don't know how long we've been looking for you," Nicolas murmurs, concern etched on his features.
I sigh, feeling somewhat overwhelmed as I presto tell them everything.
"You guys may not believe me when I say this but I was attacked by wolves and i died. The moon goddess must have given me a second chance to live."
They both stared at me like I had two heads before Andrea burst into tears hugging me tighter.
"Oh Thank her goodness, that explains why we found you unconscious but clear of wounds in rogue lands."
I'm not sure how to feel yet with the moon Goddess bringing me back to life.
What was the point of I'm still going to end up in the same situation, suffering or being hunted down?
"I'm glad that you're alive Lila but you need food if you're going to stay alive and we can't stay here for long, it's not safe. Nicolas warned as he already started packing up things from the room like we're on the run.

" You still haven't told me where we are, Nic," I say as I take a huge bite into a burger, my first decent meal in days.
Nic sighs and abandons his food. " I had to cast a spell and transport us into a small town because the other places aren't safe for you right now."
Compassion filled me as I was suddenly aware of the risk my cousin and best friend took for me.
They could be exiled from the pack but they still went through it all and I know that I owe them my life for this.
"So what's the plan now?" I ask.
" We are going to rest here for a few days then Nic will cast an identity spell on us to hide your looks so we can find somewhere to start afresh." Andrea says.
I feel hopeful for the first time in a long time and I think that maybe the moon goddess has good plans for me.

2 DAYS LATER
We've been camped in this motel trying to carefully plan out our next move while I used the time to recover from everything I've been through.
It's crazy how no one talks about the appetite you gain after coming back to life.
Today is our last day here so by night time we will be on our way with my new identity and new live.
Maybe I will finally be able to go to university, I muse. It was my parents wish for me to have a good education but we weren't rich, they devoted their lives to the pack and didn't even earn up to 1,500 pounds a month.
"Hurry up girls, we need to get going soon!" Nicolas calls from the living room as Andrea steps into our room.
" What's the point of doing makeup when we are running away?" I ask regarding her fully baked face.
"I need a perfect base for the run girl. No makeup is equal to bad luck."
I can't help but laugh at her as I make my way to the bathroom.
I immediately strip my clothes and jump into the bath tub laying my head for a bit on the headrest.
I run my hands through my hair to spread the soap then once I finish I rinse off and tie my robe.
I'm about to come out of the bathroom when all of a sudden I hear a glass fall on the floor and I immediately rush out of the bathroom, when I hear Andrea's scream.
"What's going on here?" I ask getting back into the room.
Panic courses through me when I don't see anyone.
"Andrea !"
"Nicolas!" I scream running through the motel apartment but I'm met with silence.
I search every part of the apartment for them and I see them for a brief second before my breath hitches in my throat.

The Duke was standing in the middle of the room, his hands in his pockets, his head tilted to one side. It was a relaxed, casual pose, and yet the way he looked at her was anything but casual. The deep midnight of his eyes burned and he radiated a subtle, sensual energy that made the air around him crackle.
He looked like a man who'd never heard the word 'no' in all his life. Unluckily for him, 'no' was the only word she had.
"There's no reason why I should stay," Anna clasped her shaking hands together in an effort to still them. "I'm not marrying you."
His gaze flickered, his mouth curving slightly, and she had the disturbing thought that far from putting him off, her insistence was only inciting him further.
"But you haven't heard my proposal yet," he said mildly. "Isn't that why you're here?"
"I don't need to hear it. I already know that my answer will be no."
"Of course. But you can hardly tell your father that you heard me out when you haven't, in fact, heard me out.... Anna."

Areli was the hardest-working medic in the Blackridge Clan, but her efforts only earned her the title of a useless burden.
Her supposed lover, Eugene, and her senior mentor, Gloria, lured her to the edge of the deadly Blackwind Cliff and shoved her straight into the abyss.
She miraculously survived the freefall, only to return and find Gloria standing before the entire clan, wearing a mask of fake sorrow.
"Look! The traitor is back! She eloped with wild males!" Gloria shrieked.
Eugene stepped up, looking heartbroken, and publicly accused her of betraying his love.
The crowd erupted, raining hisses and boos upon her, completely ignoring the horrific, life-threatening bruises that covered her battered body.
They blindly believed the lies, treating her like garbage while Gloria secretly plotted to poison her water and destroy her completely.
Areli felt a chilling sense of betrayal. How could the man who claimed to love her watch her fall with such cold eyes?
To make matters worse, her modern biochemist instincts revealed a terrifying truth: she was unexpectedly pregnant with the child of a savage Warlord she had encountered in the wild.
In this brutal, primitive world, showing any weakness was an absolute death sentence.
But she wasn't going to cower or run away.
Refusing the Warlord's offer to simply rescue her, Areli calmly placed a highly toxic herb on her drying rack and left her tent flap open.
The bait was set. Now, she just had to wait for the screams.

A spiked martini at her second-anniversary party led Amelia to stumble into a dark VIP suite, where she unexpectedly lost her virginity to a stranger.
Returning home, the morning light revealed her husband, Kyler, reeking of another woman's perfume, with red lipstick on his collar and a fresh scratch below his ear.
The suffocating guilt of her own mistake instantly vanished, replaced by a cold, sharp block of ice. Kyler, instead of apologizing, mocked her and threatened to cut off her ailing mother's nursing home funding if she didn't play the loving wife.
His two years of coldness and refusal to touch her, claiming stress, were exposed as a pathetic, disgusting lie. Amelia, refusing to be a victim, filed for divorce and began a digital hunt for the IP address that had wiped the club's security servers.
Amidst this escalating fight, she encountered Kyler's formidable half-brother, Jonas Brown, her old academic rival. The familiar scent of crisp cedar and dark tobacco, combined with a fresh scratch on his hand, sparked a terrifying, impossible suspicion.
Then, trapped in his car, a phone call confirmed her custom Cartier ring was missing from the very penthouse suite where she'd spent that fateful night. The horrifying truth slammed into her: Jonas was the stranger. Without a word, she Venmoed him $5,000.00 with the note: "Service fee and hush money." This was war.

I was standing in the center of the gallery, holding a glass of expensive champagne, when the screens behind me flickered and my life ended.
It was supposed to be an art unveiling, but the monitors shifted to fake footage of me handing evidence to the FBI.
My fiancé, Ethan, looked at me like I was a sick dog that needed to be put down.
My father slapped me across the face in front of everyone, disowning me to save his own skin.
That was when Luca Vitti, the city’s most dangerous man, stepped in.
He cleared the room and took my hand.
I thought he was saving me.
I didn't realize he was just collecting a new pet.
I was locked in his estate, isolated and terrified.
Then, my healthy mother suddenly "died" of pneumonia in a Vitti clinic.
Days later, I saw Luca’s frail stepsister, Clara, breathing easily for the first time in her life.
She had my mother’s lungs.
I became nothing more than a breeding vessel.
When I fell pregnant, I overheard Luca and Ethan planning my death.
"Once the kid is cut out, she's a loose end," Luca had said.
They were going to kill me and give my son to the woman who stole my mother's breath.
I couldn't let that happen.
So, I staged a tragedy.
I induced labor in secret, hid my living son, and placed a fake corpse in the crib with a note: The Vitti Legacy.
I escaped while they mourned.
Five years later, Luca finally found the doctor’s confession.
He learned that Clara had orchestrated everything.
He opened the velvet box I left behind and realized it was empty.
Now, he knows I didn't kill his son.
I saved him from becoming a monster like his father.

"Hello, Isabella." Mateo Rossi's voice is low, smooth, and dangerously familiar, sending heat curling through her before she can stop it.
She freezes. He leans back, eyes dark and unreadable, lingering on her just a little too long.
"I never knew Nathan had a daughter like you," he says softly. "All grown up." Relief floods her.
He doesn't recognize her. Not the girl from that night. Not the one who lost control in his arms. Or he does, and he is choosing to pretend. Because Mateo watches her like she belongs to him. He tests her, corners her, pushes her past every limit she thought she had. Doors close.
Tempers snap. Boundaries blur. And Isabella realizes something far more dangerous than her past catching up to her. London was never her escape. It is his world. And this time, Mateo Rossi has no intention of letting her walk away.
