Chapter 1

LILA

" I Sebastian Lakewood, Alpha of Halemoon Pack reject you Lila Stark. I cannot marry such a traitorous wrench like you. "

I felt the world around me come to a stop.

I couldn't believe what I just heard, Sebastian, the only man that has ever shown me love suddenly rejecting me?

"I don't... I don't understand Seb, where's this coming from? " I rasped as I felt my eyelids sting with tears.

An irritated look flashes across Sebastian's face and he doesn't even bother to spare me a glance as a wicked laugh escapes his lips.

"I know for sure you're a mad woman to consider that I will accept you as my mate after cheating on me and your family's betrayal ! Guards, throw her in the cell next to her traitorous family. " Sebastian spat.

Our wedding guests that had been quiet suddenly started to snicker and call me names.

"Whore!"

"Traitorous Bitch"

"Seb.. " I beckoned, my voice cracking as my mind pondered on what he said, pleading with my eyes for him to spare me a glance.

Someone must have been feeding him lies cause I would never betray my mate, talk less of my family. Generations of the starks have served this pack relentlessly.

Sebastian finally spared me a glance but for long as I felt breath escape me when he landed a slap across my face.

A sob escaped my lips as I fell to my knees from the impact.

"I never want to hear you call me that you Omega weakling." he said, looking me over with disgust before stalking away just as two guards flanked my side, forcing me to my feet as they escorted me to the cell.

"Get up Bitch, I'm not carrying you all the way there," One of the Beta Guards roared as his claws sunk into my skin, drawing blood.

•••

The last thing I remember is being tossed into the cell like a piece of nothing by the guards and hitting my head on impact. Due to my lack of a wolf, it would take days before the throb in my forehead ceases.

I sigh as I open my eyes and I'm met with darkness, the horrible smell of sewage and water dripping from the ceiling.

"Lila, are you awake now?" I hear my mom's voice from the other end of the room and relief immediately washes through me.

"Yes mum, thank goddess you're alive, how about dad? " I mutter as I scoot to the wall where her voice is loudest.

My mom doesn't say anything as a sob escapes her lips, "they've already taken him honey, they are executing us individually. After our loyalty to this pack this is how they repay us. We have been nothing but good to them! "

My chest tightens but no tears stream from my face, just a sharp pain that spreads through my body.

"I'm so sorry I couldn't protect you guys, after all the sacrifices you've made for me."

" it's not your fault my darling, it's whoever betrayed us in the pack, now we can only pray to the goddess-" her words are cut short when a piercing scream escapes her lips. "

"Mom!" panic laces through me as I call out her name.

"Shut up bitch" a guard says as he approaches my cell. "What made you think you are allowed to talk to other prisoners ? "

"Mom! " I scream again this time with more urgency but I'm too late, her choking sounds fill my cell and I hear the sound of her limp body dragged out of her cell.

I still can't believe everything that has happened today. How did I go from saying my vows to Sebastian to being chained as a prisoner and losing my parents ?

I wondered if the goddess was just watching us innocent souls get executed for crimes we don't know of and didn't commit.

The sound of keys dangling fills my ears as a guard unlocks my cell gate.

A shiver runs down my spine as he regards me with a disgusting smirk.

"It's time for you to face your judgement bitch."

•••

"How do you defend your crimes Lara?" Nora, Sebastian' mother, asks. She regards me with little interest like I'm nothing short of a stray fly.

I have been tied up in a chair as I sit and face my judgement, my wrists burn from the chains and I manage to raise my head up my gaze skimming each Elder of the pack and our Alpha.

Sebastian doesn't even bother to look at me, his gaze remains on a prostitute that serves them wine, and he throws a wink at her with a small smile.

I move my gaze from him but that doesn't stop the hurt that I feel enveloping me.

" Please, you all have to believe me when I say this. Someone is plotting against my family and feeding you all lies. I would never betray my mate nor my pack, you're all my family !" I beg.

The room is silent for a beat before laughter erupts.

"You're foolish if you think we would believe anything that comes out of your mouth, I wonder how I ever let such an idiot like you be engaged to my son. " Nora says, her eyes filled with disdain.

Sebastian doesn't even flinch, he already has his arms wrapped around the waist of another woman as if we weren't just about to get married hours ago.

" The stupid girl can't even plead guilty? Just like her family. Soon you will meet your fate as they did." Beta Dryden, one of the Pack Elders and a  former friend to my father says.

Nora laughs as she walks towards me, spitting on my face.

"Son, what will you have me do to her. Shall we kill her and feed her to the dogs ? She's not very fleshy but she would make for an appetizer."

They all laugh and whisper crude words in my direction and my gaze moves to the floor, as my cheeks redden from embarrassment.

"I would prefer if she dies a slow death, I want her to rot in that cell with no food or water, so even the dogs won't be able to stand her wretchedness."

Before I could think,a cloth covered my nose, and when I inhaled the scent, I welcomed the darkness
