Rejected Heiress And The Ruthless CEO Novel Cover

Rejected Heiress And The Ruthless CEO

For twenty years, Krista lived as the perfect daughter of the wealthy Cain family. But a single DNA report shattered her entire world. Her adoptive parents coldly declared she was just a mistake and immediately replaced her with the true bloodline. Desperate, she ran through the freezing rain to find her fiancé, only to hear him laughing with his friends. "Marry a fake? I don't collect the Cain family's second-hand trash." She slapped him, threw her diamond ring at his chest, and stumbled into a jazz lounge to drown her pain. Drunk and heartbroken, she accidentally crashed into a stranger, clinging to him like a lifeline, which ended in a wild night in a luxury penthouse. When she woke up, she realized the man she had ravaged was Jasper Stone, the most ruthless, cold-blooded billionaire on Wall Street. At the same time, her phone lit up with notifications. Her bank accounts were frozen, and the Cain family had just released a brutal public statement permanently cutting her off. She was completely abandoned, stripped of her home, her family, and her dignity in a single night. Why was twenty years of loyalty erased so easily? But instead of kicking her out, Jasper tossed a prenuptial agreement onto the bed. "Pay off your debt with marriage. Stay, and you are the untouchable Mrs. Stone." Looking at the contract, Krista wiped her tears, put on bold red lipstick, and signed her name.

Chapter 8

Krista froze on the sofa. She looked up at Jasper, who was already turning toward the door.

"Change clothes? Where are we going?" she asked, her fingers instinctively gripping the silk fabric of her dress.

Jasper stopped and looked back at her. His expression was completely matter-of-fact. "City Hall. We signed the contract. Now we execute the legal procedure."

Krista's heart slammed against her ribs. Panic flooded her veins. "Now? But it's almost seven in the evening!"

"If I want it to be, the City Clerk's office is open twenty-four hours a day," Jasper said, his voice flat, yet dripping with the terrifying power he wielded over the city.

Krista stood up, stumbling backward a step. "This is insane... Jasper, have you really thought this through?"

She bit her lip, the deep, toxic insecurity clawing its way back up her throat. "I am just a discarded fake. I bring nothing to the table. I can't help you with anything..."

Jasper's eyebrows snapped together. He closed the distance between them in two massive strides. He reached out and clamped both of his large, heavy hands down onto her bare shoulders.

The grip was so strong it forced Krista to stop moving and look up directly into his pitch-black eyes.

"Krista Cain. Look at me," Jasper commanded, his voice vibrating with a dark, inescapable gravity.

"Do you honestly think my background check consisted of watching one security video?" He stared right through her.

"Top graduate of the Ivy League business school. Three consecutive years running the Cain charity fund with excellent performance records that kept the board utterly silent. Publicly known for your flawless linguistic skills in four different languages, handling international donors with ease."

Jasper listed her achievements, hitting every word like a hammer driving a nail into her heart.

"The Cain family is blind. They treated you like a cheap tool for marriage. But that does not mean you are worthless."

His grip on her shoulders loosened slightly. A microscopic crack appeared in his cold facade, letting a sliver of raw, intense heat bleed through.

"In my eyes, Krista, you are worth more than the entire Cain family combined."

Krista's throat locked up. Her eyes burned instantly, and hot tears pooled in her vision, blurring his sharp face.

For twenty years, her adoptive parents had only taught her how to smile at galas. Dannie had only viewed her as a trophy to boost his ego.

This was the very first time in her entire life that someone had looked at her and validated her actual, individual worth.

The massive wall of ice around her heart cracked and shattered under the burning heat of Jasper's words.

She sniffled, blinking the tears away. The fear in her eyes vanished, replaced by a sudden, fierce determination.

She had hit rock bottom. It was time to fight back.

"Okay," Krista said. Her voice was thick with emotion, but it didn't shake. "I'll go change."

Jasper watched the fire return to her eyes. The corner of his mouth lifted into a genuine, satisfied smile.

He let go of her shoulders and took a step back, giving her space. "You have ten minutes."

Krista turned and practically ran into the walk-in closet. Her heart was pounding like a war drum, but this time, it wasn't out of fear. It was anticipation.

Ten minutes later, she walked out. She wore a pristine, tailored white Chanel suit. It wasn't a wedding dress, but the white fabric felt like a shield. She held her ID tightly in her hand.

Jasper was waiting by the door, draped in a long black trench coat. He looked like a king ready for war.

He saw her approach and smoothly bent his right arm, offering it to her.

Krista hesitated for exactly one second. Then, she reached out and slipped her hand through his arm. Together, they walked out the door.

My owner was Braxton Kensington, a man who looked at me with the same cold interest he gave a fluctuating stock graph. One morning, a New York Times alert shattered the silence: Braxton was getting engaged to a billionaire socialite in the merger of the decade. When I demanded my freedom and the five-million-dollar severance promised in our contract, he just smirked and pointed to the fine print. "In a court of law, an engagement is just an intention," he whispered, gripping my chin until it bruised. "Until I sign that marriage license, you belong to me." He flicked a black AmEx at my feet like I was a tragic charity case, ordering me to buy a dress for his engagement gala. To save my dying mother from eviction, I took a secret translation job, only to realize my client was his new fiancée, Caroline. She dragged me to Braxton’s office to humiliate me, and after he hid me in a secret room to avoid a scandal, he branded me a "security risk" and froze every cent I had. I stood in a CVS with my last sixty dollars, swallowing a Plan B pill dry while watching a news report about Braxton demolishing my family’s last legacy. He didn't just want my body; he wanted to erase my entire existence and leave me with nothing. The cruelty was breathtaking, but Braxton forgot that a woman with nothing left to lose is the most dangerous player in the game. I reached out to the only man he truly feared—his billionaire half-brother and the boy whose heart I broke years ago, Ansel Neal. "Coffee isn't enough," Ansel replied to my message in seconds. "Dinner. Our old spot. 8 PM." As I walked into the club to meet Braxton's greatest rival, I knew the game wasn't over. I was just changing the rules.
