Rejected by the Alpha: The White Wolf's Revenge

For five years, she built Garza Enterprises from her inheritance while her husband Darrien wore the public smile. Then she found a $50 million wire transfer to a blind trust, unlocked not by their anniversary but by his assistant Kenzie's birthday. The memo read: "For our future, My Love." Darrien didn't deny the affair. He sneered that Kenzie was the perfect Omega who could give him a real Lycan heir, while his wife was a wolfless reject and a dead end. He threatened to seize every account. But she had hidden her rare White Wolf bloodline to make him feel strong. Now she freezes his assets, puts on her family's signet ring, and accepts a marriage alliance with the Alpha King of the Eastern Seaboard. He built a future on her money. Chapter 2

Geraldine POV:

I moved through the silent penthouse with a chilling efficiency. There was no weeping, no sentimental hesitation. The grief had been burned away, leaving behind something hard and sharp.

Into a single suitcase, I packed only the essentials. Three tailored suits, a set of silk pajamas, my laptop, and a hard drive containing every piece of proprietary code I had ever written for Garza Enterprises. Everything else-the designer gowns, the jewelry Darrien had bought me, the life I had built here-I left behind. It was all tainted.

In the entryway, my eyes landed on the large, framed photograph on the wall. It was from our third anniversary, taken on a yacht in the Mediterranean. We were smiling, tanned, the picture of a power couple. A perfect lie.

My fingers didn't tremble as I lifted the heavy frame off its hook. I walked to the kitchen, slid open the trash compartment, and dropped it in. The sound of shattering glass was loud and clean in the pre-dawn silence. It was the most satisfying sound I had ever heard.

Back in the study, I sat at the marble desk, the Carroll signet ring a heavy, reassuring weight on my finger. I opened my laptop and connected to a private, encrypted network-a Carroll family resource I hadn't accessed in years. The interface was stark, powerful, and immediate.

I typed in a name: Kenzie Petty.

Files bloomed across my screen. Financial records, social connections, background checks. My mother's people were ruthlessly efficient. Kenzie wasn't from any notable Lycan family. She was a second-rate model from a backwater pack in the Midwest, with a history of attaching herself to wealthy Alphas. A predator disguised as prey.

Then I found what I was looking for. The file on her supposed child, a boy named Julian. I pulled up the birth certificate. The father's name was listed as "Unknown." The date of birth was seven months ago. Darrien had only known her for six. This meant Kenzie's claim of a current pregnancy was a blatant lie, and Darrien could not possibly be Julian's father.

The timeline was a mess. A biological impossibility.

A cold, thin smile touched my lips. I downloaded the file, attached it to an email, and sent it to my personal lawyer with a single instruction: Investigate. Urgently.

Just as I hit send, the front door opened. Darrien. He was showered and dressed in a crisp business suit, ready to go to the office and pretend last night never happened. He stopped dead when he saw the suitcase by the door.

A look of weary annoyance crossed his face.

"Really, Geraldine? Another one of your dramatic little stunts?" he asked, his voice dripping with condescension. He took a step toward me, trying to use his Alpha presence to cow me into submission. "Where do you think you're going to go?"

I lifted my head and met his gaze. The cold emptiness in my eyes seemed to startle him. For the first time, he looked uncertain.

"I'm not playing a game, Darrien," I said, my voice perfectly level. "I've just instructed my legal team to file an emergency injunction. They're freezing all major assets of Garza Enterprises, pending a full audit of your fraudulent activities."

His face went from confusion to purple-tinged rage.

"You can't do that!" he roared, his voice echoing in the large, empty apartment. "That's my company!"

"It's our company," I corrected him calmly. "And my name is on the founding documents, holding forty percent of the original technology patents. You can't build a single new project without my signature. And you will never get it again."

He lunged for my laptop, his face twisted in a snarl. "Give me that!"

I was already moving, sidestepping him easily. His movements were clumsy with anger. Mine were precise.

"You're pathetic," he spat, breathing heavily. "You think running away to some new Alpha will solve your problems? Who would possibly want you? A wolfless reject?"

I didn't bother to respond. I simply picked up the handle of my suitcase and walked toward the door. His curses followed me, a meaningless stream of noise.

The elevator doors slid shut, cutting off his voice. Alone in the mirrored box, I felt a strange tremor run through me, a faint, internal vibration. It was my inner wolf, my hidden self, stirring in response to my freedom. A quiet hum of approval.

When the elevator opened onto the ground floor, a black Cadillac Escalade was waiting at the curb. The door opened before I reached it, and a man in a severe black suit stepped out. Arthur, my family's head of security and de facto butler for as long as I could remember.

"Ms. Carroll," he said, his voice a respectful murmur. He took the suitcase from my hand without a word and placed it in the back.

I slid onto the cool leather of the back seat. As the car pulled away from the curb, I looked back at the gleaming glass tower that had been my prison for five years.

Goodbye, Darrien, I thought, a sense of finality washing over me. Goodbye to all of it.

The drive to the Carroll estate in Greenwich, Connecticut, was a blur of motion and memory. The city skyline receded, replaced by the lush, manicured landscapes of the ultra-wealthy.

My mother, Eleanor Carroll, was waiting for me in the grand foyer. She looked as she always did: impeccable, her silver hair styled perfectly, her posture radiating an aristocratic authority that could make kings tremble. She looked at me, at my single suitcase, and her expression was a mixture of sorrow and vindication.

"I told you he was beneath you," she said, her only words of commiseration.

She led me into the library, where a thick file lay on the polished mahogany table.

"The York alliance," she said, tapping the folder. "The terms are favorable. Their Alpha King, Cedric York, needs a Luna of a respectable bloodline to stabilize his political standing. We need their distribution networks to relaunch Carroll Industries in North America."

I opened the file. It was a contract, not a marriage proposal. A cold, calculated exchange of assets and power. I read every clause, my mind sharp and clear.

"I'll do it," I said, closing the folder. "But I have one condition. Until the engagement is publicly announced, I retain the right to personally oversee the complete and utter destruction of Garza Enterprises."

A flicker of something-pride, perhaps-showed in my mother's eyes. "I expected nothing less. Cedric is expecting to meet you tonight. A preliminary discussion."

She showed me to my old room. It was exactly as I had left it five years ago. I walked into the en-suite bathroom and turned the shower on, as cold as it would go. I stood under the icy spray until my skin was numb, washing away the last lingering scent of Darrien, of Kenzie, of my old life.

I dried myself and walked to the closet. Pushing aside the girlish dresses of my past, I found what I was looking for. A black, razor-sharp pantsuit. I put it on, the fabric feeling like armor.

In front of the mirror, I unfastened the top button of my silk blouse. For a moment, I stared at the faint, silvery lines on my hands, the marks of my first transformation, hidden for so long. Then I fastened the button again. Not yet.

I applied makeup with a steady hand, finishing with a bold, crimson lipstick. A color Darrien had always said was too aggressive, too loud. A color I loved.

As I was putting the tube away, my phone buzzed. A new message from an unknown, encrypted number.

"8 PM. The Blue Note, top floor."

No name. It didn't need one.

I looked at my reflection. The woman staring back was not the girl who had left this house. She was not the fool who had given her heart to Darrien Garza.

She was a Carroll. And she was ready for war.
