Rejected by the Alpha, Claimed by the King Novel Cover

Rejected by the Alpha, Claimed by the King

The silver moonlight bathed the ceremonial clearing in an ethereal glow as our pack gathered for the sacred annual Moon Ceremony. I stood beside Mason at the elevated platform, my Luna dress flowing in the gentle night breeze, watching our pack members arrange themselves in the traditional circle. The familiar warmth of belonging should have filled me, but something felt different tonight—a tension I couldn't quite place. Mason's hand found mine, his fingers intertwining with practiced ease. To anyone watching, we were the picture of the perfect Alpha-Luna pair, united under the Moon Goddess's blessing. But his touch felt distant, mechanical, as if he were going through the motions rather than truly connecting with me. "Beautiful ceremony tonight," he murmured, his voice carrying that authoritative Alpha tone that had once made my heart race. Now it just sounded hollow. Before I could respond, a commotion near the younger pack members caught my attention. Several wolves were huddled around their phones, whispering urgently among themselves.

Chapter 1

The sacred ceremony demanded reverence, not gossip, and I felt my Luna instincts bristle at the disruption.

"What's happening over there?" I asked Mason quietly, nodding toward the disturbance.

His jaw tightened almost imperceptibly. "Probably just pack forum drama. You know how these things spread."

But curiosity gnawed at me. During the ceremonial blessing's brief intermission, I approached Beta James Mitchell, who was trying to disperse the whispering group.

"Luna Annabelle," he said, his usual confident demeanor replaced by obvious discomfort. "Perhaps you should focus on the ceremony..."

"What's on the forum, James?" My voice carried the quiet authority of my bloodline, and he couldn't refuse a direct question from his Luna.

Reluctantly, he handed me his phone. The screen displayed our pack's private forum, and at the top was a post that had already garnered dozens of comments. The title made my blood run cold: "When Your Alpha Keeps a Secret Family - A Luna's Nightmare."

My hands trembled as I scrolled through the detailed accusations. Photos of clandestine meetings. Descriptions of intimate moments between an Alpha and a pack member named Natasha. Details about a secret child, hidden for years while the Luna remained oblivious.

At first, I tried to convince myself it was about another pack. These scandals happened everywhere, didn't they? But as I read further, the details became impossibly specific. The Alpha's distinctive silver watch—the one I'd given Mason for our mating anniversary. The pack member's red hair and green eyes. The location of their meetings at the old oak grove on the eastern border.

Natasha Jenkins. The name burned in my mind as I remembered her—always volunteering for pack duties, always finding reasons to be near Mason during meetings. Her shy smiles and helpful demeanor had never seemed threatening. How naive I'd been.

"Luna?" James's voice seemed to come from far away. "Are you alright?"

I handed back his phone with steady hands, though inside I was crumbling. "Fine. Let's continue with the ceremony."

But I wasn't fine. As Elder Marcus Thornfield began the traditional blessing ritual, calling each pack family forward to receive the Moon Goddess's grace, I felt our mate bond flickering like a candle in the wind. The connection that had once been my anchor now felt tainted, poisoned by lies I was only beginning to understand.

Then it happened.

A small boy with Mason's distinctive dark hair and strong jaw broke free from the crowd and ran straight toward our platform. My heart stopped as I took in his features—the unmistakable Cox bloodline written across his face like a signature.

"Alpha daddy!" the child called out joyfully, his arms outstretched as he reached Mason. "Mama said I could come tonight!"

The clearing fell silent. Every eye turned toward us, witnessing the moment my world shattered completely. The mate bond between Mason and me didn't just flicker—it exploded with the force of absolute betrayal, sending waves of anguish through my very soul.

Mason's face went white as he looked down at the boy, then at me, then back at the child who was now tugging on his ceremonial robes with complete innocence.

"Daddy, why does everyone look funny?" the boy asked, his voice carrying clearly in the stunned silence.

Seven years old. He was seven years old, which meant... I calculated quickly, my mind racing despite the emotional devastation. This affair had been going on since almost the beginning of our mating.

I felt the mate bond snap like a physical wound, the sacred connection blessed by the Moon Goddess herself dissolving under the weight of Mason's betrayal. The pain was excruciating—a deep, soul-level agony that made me want to collapse right there in front of our entire pack.

But I was a Robertson. Alpha blood ran through my veins, and I would not break publicly.

Instead, I straightened my spine, touched my father's signet ring for strength, and looked directly at Mason with ice-cold composure.

"I see," I said quietly, my voice carrying clearly across the silent clearing. "How enlightening."

The Moon Ceremony was over, but my real battle was just beginning.

I smoothed my trembling hands over the dark mahogany of River’s desk. As Luna of the Crescent Moon Pack, organizing my Alpha's chaotic workspace used to be a quiet act of devotion. Now, it was a minefield. My fingers brushed against the heavy leather of his favorite jacket, draped carelessly over the back of his chair. The moment the fabric shifted, a sickeningly sweet scent hit my nose. It was an artificial, cloying mix of crushed jasmine and overly ripe peaches. Leilany. My inner wolf, Maeve, let out a gut-wrenching howl that rattled my skull. *Mate,* she whimpered, pacing frantically against the walls of my mind. *He smells of the Omega.
