Chapter 2

The first scene showed me beside a fire, throwing sheets of paper filled with clues into a fire.

Sienna hurriedly came up to stop me, but it was too late. The documents containing the clues to the murderer had already vanished. Sienna grabbed my collar, her eyes bloodshot as she questioned me why I had done that. "These are clues we've painstakingly gathered through investigation. Why did you do this? Why?!"

She was almost frantic. Seeing that I remained silent, she slapped me until I was covered in bruises.

Other people also rushed over upon hearing the commotion. Seeing the scene before them, they could not contain their anger either. They grabbed my hair and dragged me all the way to Kiera's grave, forcing me to kneel.

Countless fists rained down on me, but I remained silent no matter how much they pressured me to talk.

Some people began to threaten me with silver daggers when pushed to the limit.

I shifted into a wolf and fought desperately before managing to escape. When I got home, I found my house in a complete mess.

Angry residents had stormed into my house and smashed everything, including the only thing my deceased mother had left me — a wolf fang necklace. I carefully held my mother's broken wolf fang in my hands and wept uncontrollably.

To protect myself, I planted wolfsbane at the entrance to my house to keep them out. I hid inside, afraid to go out.

However, I had never imagined they would be so insane as to burn down the wolfsbane and my house. If I had not stayed up that night and discovered the fire in time, I probably would have been burned to death.

I knelt on the ground, weeping bitterly as I watched my house turn to ashes.

Recalling this, Sienna said with a laugh, "Nyla, didn't you bring this upon yourself? If you hadn't covered up for the murderer, would everyone have treated you like this? Seeing you burn the evidence I painstakingly found, my heart ached even more than yours."

The crowd echoed, "Exactly! Why are you still alive and well, while Kiera's family is destroyed? Her mother also went insane from missing her daughter."

"What right do you have to feel aggrieved? You're an accomplice. You're no different from the murderer who killed Kiera!"

Just then, everyone's attention was drawn elsewhere by a burst of laughter.

Sienna and Kiera appeared in their minds.

"Sienna, we'll be your assistants and help you manage the pack when you become Alpha Female. You will definitely be remembered in the history of the pack."

Sienna smiled. "How is that possible? I have an older brother."

Kiera wrapped her arm around Sienna's, smiling sweetly and answering, "You're much more capable than your brother. I believe your father will see your talent."

I held up my little finger. "It's a deal then. When Sienna becomes Alpha Female, we will wholeheartedly assist her."

Three little fingers hooked with each other, making an unchanging vow.

At this point, Sienna closed her eyes in pain, but the once sweet memories still lingered in her mind.

Today's outcome was something no one here wanted to see.

She had fulfilled her promise and become Alpha Female, but what about them? Why was she left all alone in the end?

"Liar!" Sienna murmured. It was unknown to whom she was saying it to.

"My daughter!" Kiera's father wailed as he fell to his knees. Seeing his daughter's once innocent and carefree face, he could no longer hold back his sobs.

On the night Kiera committed suicide ten years ago, the hair of the middle-aged man before me turned white overnight, aging decades instantly. Knowing that Sienna and I were investigating the killer, he saw us as his only hope. He knelt before me, grasping my hand as tears streamed down his face. After I burned all the clues, his hope crumbled once more. He knew I was the only one who knew the killer, but I refused to speak as if my mouth was welded shut.

Sienna endured the ache in her heart as she walked up to me. "Nyla, stop pretending. Do you think these fond memories will make me go soft? The thought of considering you my best friend in the past disgusts me. Ten years. You've let Kiera suffer grievances for ten years. Do you even deserve to be my friend?"

No one wanted to hear a heartless ingrate's insincere memories; they were eager to know who the real culprit was.

Sienna gave the witch a look, and the witch understood. She intensified her dark magic, and another scene appeared in everyone's minds.
