Reborn From Ashes: Divorcing The Billionaire Novel Cover

Reborn From Ashes: Divorcing The Billionaire

I was tied to a concrete pillar in an abandoned warehouse, the heavy stench of gasoline suffocating me. Ten steps away, a masked kidnapper slammed a loaded Glock onto a metal barrel and forced my husband, Alvie, to make a sick choice. "The wife or the mistress. You only get to walk out of here with one." Alvie didn't even blink. He walked straight toward the dark corner where his mistress, Gail, was crying. He wrapped his arms tightly around her, shielding her, and guided her toward the exit. He never looked back. He didn't cast a single glance over his shoulder. To him, I was already a corpse, just trash left on the pavement. The kidnapper laughed and tossed a lighter onto the soaked concrete floor. A wall of ghostly blue fire erupted instantly, swallowing me whole. The absolute agony of my skin blistering and melting shattered my sanity. In my last moments, consumed by the inferno, I couldn't understand how the man I had loved and served so submissively could leave me to burn alive. My heartbreak quickly morphed into a hatred far deeper than the flames. Then, I violently jerked awake. I shot up from the bed, gasping for cold air, my hands frantically checking my perfectly smooth, unburned skin. I looked at the desk clock. I had returned to exactly four years ago, the morning of the annual Gallagher family gathering. The fragile, naive wife died in that warehouse. This time, I am going to destroy them both.

Chapter 8

The air in the office turned to stone.

Gene stepped fully into the room. Her heels clicked sharply against the hardwood floor as she bypassed the sofa and walked straight toward Alvie's massive desk.

Gail was the first to recover. She forced tears into her eyes, her lower lip trembling violently.

"Gene, please!" Gail sobbed, her voice shaking. "It's not what it looks like! I was drunk, he forced me-"

Gene didn't even look at her. She reached out and grabbed the half-full bottle of Macallan whiskey sitting on Alvie's desk.

She unscrewed the cap and tipped the bottle over.

The amber liquid poured out, splashing directly onto the stack of highly confidential merger documents spread across the desk. The ink bled instantly.

Alvie snapped out of his shock. He lunged forward, frantically trying to pull his pants up.

"Are you crazy? !" Alvie bellowed, his face turning purple with rage. "Do you know how much those documents are worth? !"

Gene slammed the heavy glass bottle down onto the edge of the desk.

The bottle shattered. Glass shards exploded outward. One sharp piece sliced across the back of Alvie's hand.

Alvie hissed in pain and stumbled back, clutching his bleeding hand. He looked up at Gene, and the pure, unfiltered hatred in her eyes made his blood run cold. The terrifying premonition of his nightmare-losing her and losing his empire-slammed into his chest.

"We are done, Alvie," Gene said. Her voice was terrifyingly calm. "Have your lawyers draft the divorce papers."

The word 'divorce' hit Alvie like a physical blow. The color drained completely from his face. The vision of himself sleeping on the streets flashed in his mind.

"No!" Alvie shouted, his voice cracking with panic. He reached out, trying to grab her arm.

Gene swatted his hand away like it was a diseased rat.

"I will not sign anything!" Alvie babbled, his breathing erratic. "I'll give you the penthouse! I'll double your trust fund shares! Just calm down!"

Gail gasped from the sofa. She stared at Alvie in disbelief. He had promised to throw Gene out on the street today.

"Alvie!" Gail cried out.

Alvie spun around and pointed a bloody finger at the mistress. "Shut your mouth, you whore! Get out of my office! You're fired!"

Gail burst into genuine, hysterical tears.

Gene watched the pathetic display with utter disgust. He was willing to throw anyone under the bus to save his own skin.

"Keep your dirty money," Gene sneered. "I want nothing from you but my freedom. And I am going to make you pay for this."

Alvie's panic morphed back into vicious anger. He bared his teeth.

"You think you can survive without me?" Alvie threatened, his voice shaking. "You'll have nothing! I'll make sure you're blacklisted from every social circle in New York!"

Gene laughed. It was a cold, hollow sound.

"Let's see who ends up bankrupt and begging on the streets first," Gene whispered.

The words struck Alvie's deepest, darkest fear. He froze completely, his eyes wide, sweat beading on his forehead. He couldn't speak.

Gene turned on her heel and walked out of the office.

As she passed the side table in the hallway, she picked up the insulated lunchbox. She walked over to the large trash can by the elevator and dropped it in.

It hit the bottom with a loud, hollow thud.

Gene stepped into the elevator and pressed the lobby button. She didn't look back.

From the shadows of the corridor, Donte stepped out. He watched the elevator doors close, a dark, satisfied smirk playing on his lips.

He pulled his phone from his pocket and dialed his lead attorney.

"Pull a complete risk assessment report on Alvie's personal assets and leveraged investments. Immediately," Donte ordered, his voice cold and ruthless. "And freeze any unauthorized cash flow he's siphoning from the family trust. I want him to understand the cost of his indiscretions within thirty days."

He hung up the phone and walked toward his private elevator, leaving the sounds of Alvie destroying his office behind him.

Call Me Fake Heiress? Now I Bought My Ex's Company Novel Cover
7.4
I never expected to be branded a 'fake heiress' and a 'scheming bitch' on my own wedding anniversary. "Did you really think we'd never find out you faked the DNA test?" My mother's voice cut like a blade. "You've been impersonating our real daughter all along." The irony was suffocating. They were the ones who stormed into my peaceful life, insisting that I was their long-lost child-no proof needed. And now they dared to call me the fraud. "Since Camille has finally returned to where she belongs," my father declared coldly, "it's time for you to crawl back into whatever shadow you came from." Then came the final blow. My husband of five years didn't even hesitate. "I'll have the divorce papers drawn up immediately. Don't make this difficult, Mirena. You were never meant to be my wife." Overnight, I was discarded. The scandal of the city. The woman who stole a life that was never hers. But they forgot one thing: I never needed them. Before I was George Ashton's wife, I was Mirena Sterling-the Investment Queen. The woman who broke Wall Street records before she turned twenty-five. A racing champion. A tech prodigy. I walked away from all of it. Gave up my empire. My crown. My name. All for a man who threw me away like garbage the moment someone "better" came along. Big mistake. On the night they cast me out, soaking wet and humiliated, I ran into the last person I ever wanted to see. "Look at you now, Mirena," Alexander Pierce murmured, watching me with those piercing eyes. "The woman who once ruled the financial world. Reduced to this." He tilted his head. "And for what? Love?" A dark laugh. "Pathetic." My former rival. The man who spent years trying to beat me-and never once succeeded. Now he stood before me, a Wall Street titan, watching my downfall with hungry satisfaction. He thought he'd seen the last of me. He was wrong. The game was simple now: drop the dead weight, reclaim what's mine, and remind everyone why they feared my name. Within months, I was back. Every market moved when I breathed. Every headline screamed my return. The Sterlings came crawling, begging for mercy they'd never shown me. And George? He watched in horror as I bought his most prized company without blinking. The divorce he'd so eagerly signed? His greatest regret. "Mirena, please," he begged, groveling at my feet. "Give me another chance." I didn't even look at him. "Sorry, darling. I don't recycle trash." But what I didn't expect was him. Alexander Pierce dropped to one knee in front of me-the man who had once mocked my fall, now looking up with something raw and undisguised in his crimson gaze. "I knew you'd take back everything they stole," he said, voice low. "Now..." A slow, dangerous smile curved his lips. "Take me too."
