Chapter 3

Shannon trembled as she kept dialing my number.

However, I deliberately ignored all her calls as I watched her shivering with fear through the surveillance cameras. A cold smirk played on my lips.

It wasn't until the brand manager I had been working with the past few days, Mr. Santo, arrived that we entered the company together.

Upon spotting me, Shannon reacted as though she were a drowning person clutching at a lifeline. She rushed straight toward me and yelled, "Rina, why didn't you answer my calls? You really went over the line this time! How could you push a little girl down the stairs at a restaurant and cause her to go blind?"

When Blythe heard my name, he immediately took out a knife and charged toward me.

"So, it's you! I finally got you! I'm definitely going to make you pay for what you did to my daughter two days ago!"

Mr. Santo hastily stopped him, while I allowed a confused look to appear on my face.

"I didn't push a little girl, nor did I go to any restaurant here two days ago, as I've been away from the city the past few days. Sir, could you be mistaken that it was me?"

Realizing that something was fishy as well, Mr. Santo said to Blythe, "Rina was indeed on a work trip, and I was the one who hosted her. How could she have appeared in a restaurant here two days ago? Sir, I can vouch for her, and her livestream fans can too."

I clearly saw the way Shannon's expression froze.

Blythe was briefly surprised, but then he scoffed and retorted, "Hah! You're just too afraid to admit to it, aren't you? Two days ago, you said you were some hotshot influencer who had millions of subscribers and insulted us for being poor!

"Everyone in the restaurant heard it! And the one who messaged us had the username 'Rina'! Still trying to deny it?"

With that, he took out his phone and shoved it in my face.

I saw that Shannon had used my account to contact them, and the messages she sent were definitely enough to make one's blood boil.

Blythe began to read out the messages, one by one, "Damn poverty-stricken peasants! There's no way I'll apologize! Your daughter should consider herself lucky to die, as that means she'll finally be free of your impoverished family!

"Even if you expose me, it'll be no use! My fans love me a lot and are incredibly dumb. All I need to do is just cry in front of the camera, and they'll forgive me! As for suing me? Do you even have the money to hire a lawyer, you beggars?

"Come on, then! Come find me at my company, if you have the guts! I'll just blind all of you too!"

When the passersby and employees heard that, they began a barrage of furious comments.

"That's way too much! How could you be so vile? Aren't you afraid that it will come back to bite you in the ass?"

"No wonder the victim's family came charging in here with weapons! If it had been my daughter, I definitely would've done the same!"

Ignoring them, I turned to level a curious gaze on Shannon. "Shannon, didn't you borrow this account from me before I left for that business trip? You were using it, weren't you?"

Shannon immediately panicked. "No, I wasn't! Rina, I'm Mark's sister! How could you frame me just because you're scared?"

At that moment, my husband, Mark, came over. Shannon instantly hugged his arm, an aggrieved expression painting her face.

Mark shot me a cold look as he said, "I already know what happened! Honey, you went way too far this time! Maybe you should head inside first. I'll handle this matter."

I scoffed.

Somehow, he immediately knew what had happened the moment he appeared, and he was absolutely certain that I had done it.

As I thought, he was involved in the scheme to murder me.

No wonder he hadn't been willing to collect my body from the morgue in my past life after I died. Judging from how intimate they seemed, it was highly likely that they had already gotten involved with each other long ago.

"Even your husband said you did it! How are you going to deny it now?" Blythe screamed at me with reddened eyes.

Maria added through her tears, "That's right! You were wearing this exact red dress that day! You were clearly the one who pushed my daughter down the stairs, yet here you are, trying to accuse someone else of the crime just so you can avoid taking responsibility!"

The onlooking crowd also cried out in righteous anger, "That influencer really is too much, even throwing her husband's sister under the bus to use as a scapegoat! Wasn't she the one who taunted the family, daring them to come find her at her company? Let's see who's willing to help her now!"

"I pity those poor fans of hers who were kept in the dark. People like her deserve nothing more than death!"

That had Blythe even more infuriated, and he lifted the knife to stab at my stomach.

I twisted my body to avoid the first stab, but two of the family members swiftly pinned me to the wall.

Mr. Santo wanted to help, but he was held back by the other family members.

Eyeing the knife resting on my skin, I forced myself to stay calm as I said, "Wait! Sir, I really didn't do it! If you don't believe me, you can try calling the number of that person who messaged you!"

Mr. Santo also shouted, "That's right! Sir, Rina was really out on a business trip with us the past few days! Please just try calling that number! Don't let the real culprit get away with this!"

Blythe hesitated for several seconds, but he eventually lowered his knife and took his phone out to call the number.

Shannon extended a hand to stop him, but it was too late as the phone in her pocket started ringing.
