Chapter 1

Brakk!!!

The door slammed open, waking the poor girl who had just lain down her broken body an hour ago. Her heart pounded as she jolted upright. The creaky bed sounded loudly.

"Elara," she muttered weakly as she sat on the edge of the bed, massaging her throbbing head.

Now, her room door was wide open, revealing a beautiful blonde woman with striking blue eyes glaring at her in fury.

"Idiot! Lazy! Hey slave, get up and do your duties, you worthless Seraphina!" The blonde woman's voice echoed throughout the room. Ahh...more precisely, a barely habitable storage room.

"Oww... it hurts," Seraphina whimpered, trying to free herself from Elara's grip on her thick brunette hair. Tears streamed down from the pain she was trying to endure.

"Don't get cocky! Even though Luna Freya is kind to you, that doesn't mean you can be lazy. If not for her kindness, the pack members would have burned you alive!" Elara spat on Seraphina's face in disgust before walking out of the storage room.

Tears streamed down Seraphina's face. She wiped Elara's spit off her face, sobbing quietly. Her heart was not only torn by Elara's treatment but also by Alpha Evander's actions that almost drove her to despair.

Not wanting to linger and anger everyone, Seraphina climbed out of the bed, the creaky noise bothering her. She quickly cleaned herself and headed to the kitchen.

In three days, the pack was preparing for Alpha Evander's birthday. Even though the Alpha had never been kind to her, Seraphina's love for him was too great.

The Moon Goddess had chosen her to be Alpha Evan's mate, hoping that someday the truth would come out and the Alpha would love her genuinely. Naive, but that was Seraphina's hope as a mate.

**

Seraphina quickened her pace, her small legs running towards the kitchen as the day grew brighter. Not wanting to be late, she ran without looking left or right. But...

"YOU FOOL! DAMN STUPID! IDIOT!" The voice was instantly recognizable. That baritone, stern voice that always made Seraphina fall in love repeatedly. "WHY DON'T YOU JUST DIE!"

But the words that followed tore her heart even more. She didn't dare to look at the Alpha's face. She bowed her head, trying to hold back the tears.

"ARE YOU DEAF!" Seraphina almost screamed, but it got stuck in her throat. Not only was her heart hurting, but all the muscles in her neck felt sore. Alpha Evan was choking her so hard that she felt she couldn't breathe properly.

His gray eyes were sharp and threatening. Seraphina couldn't bear to look at Alpha Evander's perfectly formed eyes, protected by a pair of sharp, bird-like eyebrows.

"I...am...sorry...Alpha. I didn't...mean to bump into you on purpose. Please, let me go." The oxygen supply in Seraphina's chest seemed to thin. Hot. Painful. She felt she could no longer breathe, as her face began to turn blue. Seraphina's hands reflexively tried to remove Alpha Evan's hands from her neck, but it turned out to be the beginning of a series of tortures inflicted by the Alpha.

Seraphina's body instantly felt shattered, especially her back. Alpha Evander suddenly threw her body hard, causing it to hit the wall. Not only was she thrown, but when Seraphina's body collapsed weakly to the floor, the Alpha walked towards her and kicked her in the stomach, causing her to cough up blood.

Shattered. That was what Seraphina felt now. Not just her body being beaten to a pulp, but her heart was even more broken.

"Weak." The feminine voice came out of nowhere. Seraphina recognized it well. While holding her terribly sore stomach, she looked up and saw Elara looking at her with disgust, smirking. "Murderer! You don't deserve to be a Luna. Weak! Coward! Especially since you can't shift!"

For the umpteenth time, Seraphina screamed softly with her head tilted back. Elara grabbed her hair again and laughed at her. While Alpha Evan just watched the scene with disgust.

Seraphina was being hurt and tortured because she was an unwanted beta. Evander, her Alpha, had a lover named Elara. They showed their affection in front of Seraphina, making her even more miserable.

Seraphina was hated because she was the daughter of Beta Tristan Blackfang, who was blamed for the death of Alpha Niamh, Evander's father, though it wasn't Seraphina's fault. But Seraphina didn't know how to explain it.

"Enough, Elara. Don't dirty your hands touching that slut," said Alpha Evan, clicking his tongue in annoyance.

"Alpha, I just wanted to warn her not to tell Luna Freya lies," Elara assured Alpha Evan.

"She wouldn't dare do that. Now, let her go and stop wasting our time!" demanded the Alpha, his voice leaving no room for argument.

Elara released her grip on Seraphina's hair with a harsh yank. No cries, no sound of pain. Everything had been drained by the pain ravaging Seraphina's body.

"When will you reject her, Darling? A mate like her is disgusting and repulsive, isn't she?" Elara clung to Alpha Evander's arm, her voice dripping with false sweetness.

Seraphina's eyes filled with tears again, her heart shattering. Although she often saw them showing affection even more blatantly, it always hurt just the same.

"Calm down, Honey. I'll definitely reject that bitch immediately. She's too low to be with me." Evander gently brushed Elara's shiny blonde hair, both of them looked at Seraphina with disgust and seemed to show that they were a very compatible couple. Then the two were seen kissing each other hotly.

'I should be the one in that position, as a mate it's my right'

Seraphina cursed herself, she looked down and avoided the gaze of the two shameless people in front of her. She wanted to scream in front of them, but she already knew what the outcome would be. There was only pain in her eyes.

The broken body did not stop Seraphina from getting up and forcing her legs to leave that place. She didn't even care about all the wounds on her body because her heart hurt more. She ran away, further and further away from them. Some of the pack residents looked at her with mocking glances and others never even considered her.

Loser? Weak?

Yes, perhaps all those ugly nicknames were deserved. Seraphina was already 23 years old but she couldn't do anything let alone change shifts. Seraphina was not good at holding a sword, nor could she hit properly, let alone use arrows. All this time, she never got the chance to practice learning any of that. The Omegas had always mistreated her because as the daughter of a Beta she was a complete disappointment.

"Hiks...hiks...hiks...mom, dad, I miss you guys. Everyone here treats me badly except Luna Freya. I just want to catch up with you guys, Alpha Evan is always hurting me..."

Now, she stood at the edge of a hidden lake. The beauty of the lake was enhanced by the presence of flowering wild plants with colors sparkling like crystals. The lake was a silent witness to the beginning of Seraphina's suffering.

'Stop your nonsense, Sera! Alpha Evan is our mate, you must fight to explain everything that happened back then!' Lysandra-the wolf in Seraphina's body mindlinked her.

"He'll never believe it, Lysa," Seraphina replied desperately.

The cold metal of the restraints bit into my wrists and ankles, holding me immobile against the extraction table. My heart hammered against my ribs like a trapped animal seeking escape. The antiseptic smell of the pack healer's private wing burned my nostrils, mixing with the scent of fear—my own—that filled the sterile room. "Please," I whispered, my voice cracking as I looked into the faces surrounding me. Faces I once trusted. Faces that now watched me with cold detachment. "I didn't hurt her. I would never hurt Victoria." No one responded. My father, Alpha Marcus James, stood rigid and unyielding, his expression carved from stone. Beside him, my mother, Luna Clara, avoided my gaze entirely, finding something fascinating about the polished floor.
