Omega Rejects Silvercrest Alpha Novel Cover

Omega Rejects Silvercrest Alpha

I stood in the shadows of the grand Silvercrest ballroom, my server's uniform stiff and uncomfortable against my skin. The black tie attire felt like a costume—which, in many ways, it was. For a wolfless Omega like me, infiltrating the elite Silvercrest Pack's annual gala wasn't just risky; it was potentially suicidal. But desperation makes fools of us all. My eyes tracked Charlotte Whitmore as she glided across the marble floor, her silver gown catching the light from the crystal chandeliers. The future Luna of the Silvercrest Pack was breathtaking—tall, willowy, with honey-blonde hair cascading down her back. The perfect accessory for Alexander Sterling, the pack's future Alpha. But something was off. Her eyes kept darting to the exit, and when she thought no one was looking, her perfect smile faltered. I'd spent my life watching wolves who thought themselves unobserved.

Chapter 1

Being invisible had its advantages.

"More champagne, miss?" I murmured to a guest, keeping my head down as Charlotte slipped through a side door. No one else seemed to notice—they were all too busy preening and politicking. But I noticed. I always did.

I counted to thirty before setting down my tray and following her. The service corridor was empty, but a door at the end was slightly ajar. I moved silently, a skill honed from years of avoiding unwanted attention in my own pack.

Through the crack in the door, I saw them—Charlotte pressed against the wall, her perfect gown hiked up around her thighs, a man's face buried in her neck. But it wasn't Alexander Sterling. This man was rougher, wilder, with the unmistakable aura of a rogue.

"They'll never know," she was whispering, her voice breathy with desire. "Alexander is too busy playing Alpha to even notice I'm gone."

The rogue chuckled, a dangerous sound that sent chills down my spine. "You sure know how to live dangerously, princess. Fucking a rogue the night before your mate announcement."

I pulled out my phone and snapped several photos, making sure to capture Charlotte's face clearly in the frame. The flash was off, but the soft click of the camera seemed to echo in the quiet corridor. I froze, but they were too engrossed in each other to notice.

I retreated, my heart hammering against my ribs. This was it—the opportunity I'd been waiting for. Alexander Sterling's perfect mate wasn't so perfect after all.

Back in the ballroom, I resumed my role, invisible among the glittering elite. An hour later, Charlotte returned, her lipstick freshly applied but her hair slightly mussed. She caught my eye for a brief moment, and I lowered my gaze, the perfect picture of subservience.

The room fell silent as Alexander Sterling took the stage, his powerful presence commanding attention without effort. He was devastatingly handsome—tall and broad-shouldered, with dark hair and piercing gray eyes that seemed to see through pretense. His aura was suffocating, even from across the room, the unmistakable power of an Alpha in his prime.

"Tonight," he began, his deep voice resonating through the hall, "I had planned to formally announce my intention to take Charlotte Whitmore as my Luna."

Charlotte stepped forward, a practiced smile on her lips. But instead of joining him, she stopped at the foot of the stage.

"I'm sorry, Alexander," she said, her voice carrying clearly through the stunned silence. "I cannot bind myself to you. Our packs' alliance must find another way."

The collective gasp was audible. I watched Alexander's face, fascinated by the minute changes in his expression—shock, confusion, and then a cold, terrible rage. His eyes flashed gold, his wolf stirring beneath the surface of his control.

"You dare," he said, each word precise and deadly, "to reject me publicly?"

Charlotte lifted her chin, playing the role of the brave, principled she-wolf. "I follow my heart, as the Moon Goddess guides me."

The rest of the gala passed in a blur of whispers and scandalized glances. I continued serving drinks, watching as Alexander maintained his composure through sheer force of will, though I could see the tremor in his hands, the tension in his jaw. His wolf was raging, I could tell—humiliated before his entire pack and their allies.

Hours later, I found him in the hotel bar, a tumbler of whiskey untouched before him. His eyes were fixed on the amber liquid, his face a mask of controlled fury.

I slid into the seat across from him, pushing my phone across the polished wood. He looked up, irritation flashing across his features.

"What do you want?" he growled, the Alpha tone making my skin prickle despite my lack of a wolf to respond to it.

"To make you a proposition," I said, tapping the phone screen. "You might want to see this first."

He glanced down, and I watched as understanding dawned on his face, followed by a wave of rage so potent I could almost taste it.

"I can be your replacement mate," I said quietly, meeting his gaze steadily. "For a price."

The rogue's claws slashed through the air, missing my face by inches as I ducked and pivoted. Moonlight glinted off his matted fur as he lunged again, teeth bared in a feral snarl. Behind me, I could hear the panicked breathing of Liam, one of our youngest warriors who'd been separated from the main patrol. "Stay behind me," I commanded, my voice carrying the unmistakable weight of an Alpha. The rogue's eyes flickered with momentary hesitation before hatred consumed them again. The midnight air was thick with the scent of blood and aggression as my pack engaged the rogue wolves who'd been encroaching on Crimson Shadow territory for weeks. We'd finally cornered them at our eastern border, but they were fighting with desperate ferocity. "Alpha Aria!" Liam called out in warning as another rogue emerged from the shadows. I stood frozen in the doorway of the Alpha's quarters—our quarters for the past three years—watching as James carelessly tossed my clothes into a trunk. His movements were hurried, almost frantic, nothing like the measured control I'd grown accustomed to. The morning light filtered through the curtains, casting long shadows across what had been our shared space until just hours ago. "You need to be out by dawn," James said without looking at me, his voice carrying that edge of Alpha command that made my wolf whimper. "Sophia needs to settle in properly." Sophia. The name alone sent a chill down my spine. His true mate had returned unexpectedly last night, claiming her wolf was weakening and she needed James's aura to strengthen her. And just like that, three years of my life were being packed away in a single trunk. "Where should I go?" I asked, my voice smaller than I intended. "The guest wing." He finally looked up, his eyes—the same piercing blue that had first reminded me of Ethan—now cold and distant.

The morning light filtered through the curtains as I knelt before the hearth, carefully arranging the kindling for the special oak fire needed to slow-roast the venison. My fingers trembled slightly—not from the chill in the air, but from the excitement of what today meant. Fifty years old. Half a century of life, three decades of which I'd spent as Luna of the Silvermoon Pack. "Perfect," I whispered, watching the flames catch and dance. The kitchen was still silent, the pack house eerily quiet for such an important day. I'd risen before dawn to begin preparations. The traditional birthday feast required hours of careful work—herbs gathered at sunrise for their peak potency, meats marinated in secret family recipes passed down through generations of Lunas. My mother had taught me these rituals before I'd ever met Frederick. "Something special for someone special," she'd say, though we both knew I was just an omega then, unlikely to ever hold a position of honor in any pack.

After returning home from the pack’s maternity center with my newborn, I was greeted at the door by a young nanny whose demeanor felt more suited to a Luna than a caregiver. She quickly directed me to the dining table for lunch. As she served Romeo, the former Beta of the Silver Moon Pack, a bowl of stew, my baby’s cries interrupted the moment. With a sharp tone, she addressed me: “The pup’s crying. Shouldn’t you be tending to her instead of sitting here?” “Isn’t this what you should know as a new mother?” Her words left me simmering with anger, but Romeo simply accepted the stew, adding impatiently: “Why let her cry when you could attend to her? Didn’t your mother teach you anything?” “Having a pup doesn’t mean the world revolves around you.” *** Cocooned in the hospital blanket, I crossed our front door and was taken aback by the sight of the young nanny. Confused, I looked at Romeo, who grinned as he slipped on his house slippers, saying: “I spent thirty grand on this highly educated nanny for you. She’s all about scientific pup care.” “Mina graduated with a nursing degree from a prestigious university—far better than those who undergo short training courses.” “Trust me, love, this month will be unforgettable.” His self-satisfied look implied I should be grateful. Stifling my irritation, I slipped into the disposable hotel slippers she had set out for me. “Romeo, you guys came just in time.

The river was my home. Its currents, its moods, its secrets—I knew them all. As a ferryman, I'd spent years navigating these waters, my muscles hardened by constant work, my eyes sharpened by watching for hidden dangers beneath the surface. That morning, something looked wrong. A shape too large to be debris drifted with the current, caught between the churning water and the sunken branches of an ancient oak. "Hello?" I called out, my voice carrying across the water. No response. I guided my boat closer, my heart hammering against my ribs. A man—his face pale, body limp—floated facedown in the water. Without hesitation, I reached in and pulled him out.
