Chapter 1

My wife, Wendy Sinclair, has a severe sleepwalking disorder. After she falls asleep, she always wanders out in a state of unconsciousness.

The night before our wedding, she disappears without a word.

I have no choice but to postpone our wedding. Only then does she walk out of her childhood friend's house next door, rubbing her sleepy eyes.

Afraid I might overthink, she cries and apologizes to me. "There's no cure for my condition. From now on, just tie me up when I sleep, okay?"

I feel sorry for her, so I just change the door lock to make sure she cannot go out.

But in the middle of the night, I wake up and see her standing on the edge of the balcony. She climbs in through the window and goes into her childhood friend's house again.

Soon, suggestive and intimate sounds come from inside.

My blood runs cold.

Her sleepwalking isn't an illness at all—it is out of love.

The door swung open. Julian Langford stood in the doorway with red marks on his neck. "Back to see your wife again?"

The smirk on his face was unbearable.

Rage shot through me. I punched him in the face.

The next moment, Wendy Sinclair rushed out of the bedroom. "Zane Lewis, why are you making a scene in the middle of the night?"

"And you think it's fine to spend the night in another man's bed?" I scoffed.

The first time she ended up in Julian's bed was an accident. But the second time? She was wearing his shirt, and there were still faint marks lingering on her neck.

Sleepwalking was nothing more than an excuse to sneak around with him.

"What do you take me for? I don't even remember what happened last night. Julian and I grew up together. I trust him."

She was using memory loss as an excuse again.

When she disappeared right after our wedding, I found her in Julian's bed. She cried and said she had mistaken him for me.

I'd believed her at the time, but that didn't mean I had no limits.

Julian assumed that my silence meant that I had backed down. He squeezed Wendy's waist, then shot me a mocking glance.

"Her sleepwalking only gets better when she's on my bed. You'll have to put up with it."

Wendy's silence felt like a bucket of ice water being poured over me.

Ever since Julian moved in next door a month ago, her sleepwalking had gone from once a month to every single night.

To stop her from wandering off, I used to tie her hand to mine before going to sleep.

But the next morning, she cried and called the police, accusing me of abuse.

I was detained for three days. She never came to see me once.

When I finally got back home, I saw Julian walking out of the bathroom shirtless. He gestured toward the bedroom. "Wendy just fell asleep. I was worried she might wander again, so I came to keep her company. Don't misunderstand."

The memory made my blood boil. I threw another punch at him.

"I've put up with you long enough!" I roared. "Quit pretending you're innocent. If you can't control yourself, I'll do it for you!"

Wendy's face went pale. She grabbed the broom by the door and hit me with it. "Zane, touch Julian again and see what happens!"

Her words brought me back to my senses.

She chose Julian over me.

With her backing him up, Julian kicked me without hesitation.

I wasn't prepared for it and fell flat on my back.

"Pathetic. You can't even take care of your own woman, yet you still think you can lecture me?" he sneered.

He tilted his head toward Wendy and sighed helplessly.
