Chapter 2

I was speechless.

There was no way to explain it.

But rather than get caught up in a pointless argument with Mason, my priority was to get Yulian out of danger.

I pulled my hand free from Mason and tried to call a friend.

Mason saw what I was doing and smashed my phone.

“You really want to call your lover to save that child? Forget it! No way!

“It’s no wonder we couldn’t have a child for ten years. The moment your first love came back, you got pregnant! You planned all this! You tricked me into raising that child as mine!

“We’re getting a divorce! You’ll leave with nothing!”

I could only laugh.

In my past life, Mason’s fervent anger and grief had made me feel guilty.

Pressured by public opinion, I signed the agreement to leave with nothing, barely aware of what I was doing.

Once things spread online, Yulian started getting bullied at school.

My parents thought I was a disgrace and cut ties with me.

I was fired from my job and lost my source of income. I had no choice but to hide with Yulian and live in a cave.

Then the heavy rain came, and we were buried alive by a landslide.

Thinking about that, all I wanted was to curse at Mason.

The door to the emergency room opened.

A nurse hurried over and asked, “Has the patient’s grandmother arrived? He’s losing a lot of blood. We need type A blood now!”

Mason sneered and shoved me forward.

“Her lover is on the way. How about you use her blood instead?”

“I’m the patient’s grandmother! I have type A blood! Use mine! You have to save my grandson!” shouted my mother-in-law, Susan Bennett.

Then, she rushed up to me and slapped me.

“You worthless woman! All you ever care about is work! If anything happens to my dear grandson, you’ll pay for it!”

Susan slapped me hard, but her fury did not fade. She swung her leg to kick me, but I managed to step aside.

She opened her mouth to swear at me, but the nurse stopped her. She glared at me.

“You’d better pray my grandson’s all right. If anything happens, I’ll make you pay with your life!”

Susan went with the nurse to give her blood. Mason sneered and scoffed.

“Mom, that child’s not your grandson.”

Susan stared at him in confusion. Mason said, “Willa cheated on me. I don’t even know whose child that is.”

Susan stopped dead in her tracks. She curled her fingers like claws and looked ready to rip me apart.

“I knew you’d sleep with anyone! You never stop!

“You dress like trash! You seduced my dance partner, but that wasn’t enough! You even went after the crippled beggar downstairs! I want that child’s life as payment for my suffering!”

I stared at them coldly.

A familiar figure approached from a distance.

She wore a white coat, but I would never forget her face.

She was Qiana Carter, the woman Mason had been seeing in my past life.

Mason grabbed the test report from her hand. He sneered when he saw the words [Not a biological match], then threw the report in my face.

“Willa, what else do you have to say for yourself?

“We’re getting a divorce! If you have any dignity left, leave with nothing to your name!”

I sneered.

So, they had this planned all along.

A paternity test result usually took at least a week.

In my past life, I was so flustered that I fell for their act and missed that tiny detail.

But how was Mason able to bribe five top hospitals at once?
