My Husband Cheated While Stealing My Tech Empire

Alone in their Manhattan penthouse, she endures another endless wait for Darren. His 'late meeting' text feels hollow, but the trending photo from last month's charity gala—her standing by the champagne fountain, him nowhere in sight—ignites a slow, burning fury. He's not just lying; he's methodically dismantling her tech empire from within. The question isn't whether she'll fight back, but how much she's willing to destroy—and sacrifice—to reclaim what's hers.

Chapter 1

I sat on the couch in our Manhattan penthouse, waiting. Again.

The city lights flickered through the floor-to-ceiling windows. Darren had texted three hours ago: "Late meeting. Don't wait up." I'd stopped waiting up months ago. But tonight I couldn't sleep. My phone was in my hand, thumb scrolling through nothing in particular, when the post appeared.

It was trending.

A photo of me from last month's charity gala. I was standing alone by the champagne fountain, holding a glass, looking at something off-camera. The caption read: "Imagine being married to a tech god and having literally nothing to show for it. Some women are just furniture."

The username was @BrinleyPerez.

I knew that name. Brinley Perez. Intern at Robinson Tech. Twenty-four years old. Always wore red lipstick and heels too high for the office.

I clicked on her profile. The post had twelve thousand likes. The comments were worse.

"She's so boring."

"Trophy wife energy."

"Darren Robinson could do SO much better."

My chest tightened. I scrolled further. There were more posts. Older ones. Photos of me at company events, always captioned with something cruel. "The wife who contributes nothing." "Dead weight in designer dresses." "Talentless and lucky."

I should have closed the app. I should have put the phone down. But I kept scrolling.

That's when I saw the burner account.

The username was @TechKing_47. It had no profile picture. No bio. But it was in every comment section under Brinley's posts, cheering her on.

"Finally someone says it."

"She's been coasting for years."

"Robinson deserves better."

I stared at the username. TechKing_47.

Forty-seven.

Darren's lucky number. The number he used for everything. Passwords. PINs. The number on his old college jersey, framed in his office.

My hands went cold.

I clicked on the account. It had only been active for three months. Every single post was about me. Every single comment was under Brinley's threads, supporting her, amplifying her cruelty.

He wasn't just cheating. He was participating. He was co-authoring my humiliation.

I heard the door open.

Darren walked in, loosening his tie. He didn't look at me. He dropped his briefcase by the door, shrugged off his jacket, and headed straight for the kitchen.

"You're still up," he said. Not a question. Not concern. Just a statement.

I stood. My phone was still in my hand. I walked over to the kitchen island and set it down in front of him. The screen was still lit, showing Brinley's latest post.

He glanced at it. Then at me. His expression didn't change.

"So?" he said.

I blinked. "So?"

"So what do you want me to say, Elodie?" He opened the fridge, pulled out a bottle of sparkling water, twisted the cap. "You want me to apologize because some intern posted something mean about you?"

"She's not just some intern," I said quietly. "She's your girlfriend."

He took a sip. Set the bottle down. Looked at me with those cold, flat eyes I used to think were intense.

"And?" he said.

My throat closed. "And you've been helping her. You've been commenting. Liking her posts. Encouraging her."

He didn't deny it. He leaned back against the counter, arms crossed. "You should be grateful I married you at all."

The words hit like a slap.

"Grateful?" I repeated.

"Yeah." He shrugged. "You were nothing before me. No career. No money. No presence. I gave you everything. This apartment. This life. And what have you given me? Nothing."

I stared at him. My husband. The man I'd spent eight years supporting. The man whose entire empire was built on my patents. My code. My sleepless nights.

He thought I was nothing.

He actually believed it.

"You'll be nothing after me too," he added. He picked up his water bottle and walked past me toward the bedroom. "So maybe think about that before you start making accusations."

I stood there in the kitchen. Alone. The city lights blurred through the windows.

Something inside me cracked. Not my heart. That had been cracking for years. This was something deeper. Something structural.

I picked up my phone. Opened my contacts. Scrolled to Kendall's name.

She answered on the second ring. "El? It's eleven. You okay?"

"No," I said. My voice was steady. Calm. "I need to see you. Tonight."

There was a pause. Then: "I'll open the wine."

An hour later, I was sitting in Kendall's Tribeca apartment. She poured two glasses of red and sat across from me, legs crossed, expression sharp.

I showed her everything. The posts. The burner account. The comments. The photos.

Kendall's jaw tightened. She set down her glass, pulled out a legal pad, and clicked her designer fountain pen. Once. Twice.

Then she smiled. Bright. Vicious.

"Finally," she said. "Let's bury him."
