Chapter 4

I ran frantically toward the landing site of the plane and saw the cabin door open.

Micah stepped down the steps slowly.

My heart was pounding wildly, but a rough hand covered my mouth before I could make a sound. My hair was abruptly pulled immediately after.

"You brat. How dare you hit me? I think you have a death wish!"

It was the person I just hit on the head. He had actually caught up with me!

Billy was respectfully waiting to welcome Micah. Noticing the commotion here, he frowned as he looked this way and shook his head silently at the man.

The man immediately brought me to hide behind the wall.

Not far away, Micah had already disembarked the plane, looking tired and worried.

Billy immediately stepped forward." Boss, we have retrieved all the surveillance footage as you instructed. We’ll find clues about Ms. Giselle."

"To the control room." Micah strode forward, brushing past me. We were separated only by a wall.

He suddenly stopped, clenching his fist. It was as if he were saying to me or perhaps to himself, "Giselle, nothing must happen to you."

My face was smeared with tears and blood. He was right in front of me, yet I could not even make a sound.

I was eventually locked in the confinement room.

To prevent my escape, they dislodged my arms, tied my legs, and gagged me again with a rag.

For the next few days, Micah never came.

The underground casino was dark. Considering that Jeremy had kept me in the hotel all those days, the security cameras probably had not captured my face.

My hope slowly faded.

One morning, I heard hurried footsteps and Micah's voice.

"Boss, how can you be sure that person is Ms. Giselle just from her back? Could you be mistaken? She's just a nobody dumped here to pay off debts."

Micah's voice was urgent, tinged with panic. "Stop talking nonsense. Where did you keep her?"

"Right... right in the confinement room ahead."

He recognized me!

A glimmer of hope rose within me, and I tried to make some noises to get Micah's attention. However, the footsteps stopped just ten steps away.

"Mr. Scott, I just confirmed with Ms. Giselle's fiancé. He said Ms. Giselle has returned home; she wasn't missing at all." It was Micah's assistant's voice.

"Where's she located?"

"Also, within the country. It shows she returned three days ago, but it just synced due to signal issues."

Jeremy took my phone with him before leaving with Viola; it had the GPS tracker Micah had installed for me. He was trying to mislead Micah with the phone's GPS location!

Billy advised ingratiatingly, "Boss, you must be mistaken. There is no way that woman could be Ms. Giselle!"

Micah instructed his assistant, "Contact the captain immediately to prepare for returning home. I won't feel at ease until I see Giselle with my own eyes."

"Yes, Mr. Scott."

Hearing Micah turn around to leave, I could not be bothered. I slammed my head against the iron door of the confinement room with all my might and made a loud bang.

Micah stopped and asked frigidly, "Who's locked up in here?"
