My Alpha Used Me as His Breeder

Harper Voss sacrificed everything for her mate. When a rogue attack nearly killed Alpha Ryker Kane, Harper threw herself in the blade’s path. She lost her hearing, her wolf, and her connection to the pack’s telepathic bond. But Ryker swore he’d love her through the silence. For five years, he kept that promise — or so she thought. The night Harper’s hearing miraculously returns, she doesn’t hear words of love. She hears her own daughter calling her a “broken freak” and her mate planning to discard her the moment she delivers “his real Luna’s” child. The pregnancy she’s been cherishing? Implanted through dark magic. The tea Ryker makes every morning? Slow-acting poison. The daughter she nearly died birthing? She was never Harper’s at all. Shattered but not destroyed, Harper executes a silent escape, taking with her the one thing Ryker never expected her to find: proof of every crime he’s committed. Now, under the protection of a rival pack’s enigmatic Alpha, Harper must decide: burn Ryker’s empire to the ground… or walk away and rebuild herself from the ashes? But walking away isn’t an option when the most dangerous wolf in three territories has already claimed her.

Chapter 3

The morning sun felt different against my skin—sharper, more intrusive. I sat at the breakfast table, mechanically spooning oatmeal into my mouth while watching Ryker and Maisie through my peripheral vision. Something had shifted in their dynamic overnight, a subtle change in the way they moved around each other, the way their eyes met across the kitchen.

"Harper," Ryker said, his voice carrying that honey-smooth tone I'd once found comforting. "I was thinking we should take a trip today."

I looked up, forcing my expression into mild interest while signing my response. *Where did you have in mind?*

"Moonlight Peak," he replied, and I caught the quick glance he exchanged with Maisie. "The sacred waterfall. I thought it would be good for you and the baby to receive a blessing there."

Maisie clapped her hands together, bouncing in her chair. "Oh yes! The pretty waterfall! Can we go, Mama Harper?"

The enthusiasm in her voice sounded genuine, but I'd learned not to trust surface appearances. Through the pack bond, I caught the edge of her real thoughts: *Finally. Daddy says today is important.*

My stomach clenched, but I kept my face serene. *That sounds lovely,* I signed. *When would we leave?*

"Right after breakfast," Ryker said, already standing to clear his plate. "The morning light is supposed to be especially powerful for blessing ceremonies."

Powerful for what, exactly? I wondered, but nodded agreeably.

An hour later, we were hiking up the winding trail toward Moonlight Peak. The autumn air was crisp, carrying the scent of dying leaves and distant rain. My enlarged belly made the climb difficult, but Ryker stayed close, his hand hovering protectively near my elbow.

"Careful on these rocks," he murmured, his concern seeming so genuine that for a moment, my resolve wavered. This was the man who had learned sign language for me, who had held me through countless nights when the silence became overwhelming.

But then I caught his mental voice threading through the pack bond: *Almost there. Once the binding is complete, she won't be able to resist anything.*

The binding. My blood turned to ice water.

We reached the waterfall just as the sun climbed to its zenith. The cascade tumbled down smooth granite faces, creating a natural amphitheater filled with mist and rainbow light. Under different circumstances, it would have been breathtaking.

Now it felt like a trap.

"This place is sacred to our pack," Ryker explained, his hands moving in fluid sign language. "Many generations of our ancestors have come here for important ceremonies."

Maisie ran ahead to the water's edge, her laughter echoing off the stone walls. But her mental voice carried a different message: *Is it time, Daddy? Can we do it now?*

*Patience, princess,* came Ryker's response. *Let me prepare everything first.*

He reached into the leather satchel he'd carried up the mountain and withdrew something that made my breath catch. It was a bracelet—if you could call it that. The band was made of some dark metal I didn't recognize, inscribed with symbols that seemed to writhe and shift when I looked at them directly. At its center sat a stone that absorbed light rather than reflecting it, creating a void that hurt to look at.

"This is for you," Ryker said aloud, his voice warm with false affection. "A protective charm for you and our child. It's been blessed by the pack elders."

I stared at the thing in his hands, every instinct screaming danger. But I forced my face into an expression of grateful surprise. *It's beautiful,* I signed, though the word tasted like ash in my mouth.

"Give me your wrist," he said, stepping closer.

I extended my left arm, the one furthest from the cliff edge. Ryker's fingers were gentle as he fastened the clasp, but the moment the metal touched my skin, agony shot through my entire body.

It felt like ice and fire combined, burning along my veins while freezing my bones. The pain was so intense I nearly cried out, but I bit down on my tongue hard enough to taste blood. I couldn't let them know I could feel what they were doing.

Through the pack bond, Ryker's satisfaction was palpable: *Perfect. The soul-lock is taking hold. Now her wolf spirit can't reject the implanted bloodline. The vessel is completely secure.*

Vessel. The word echoed in my mind like a curse.

The bracelet pulsed against my wrist, each beat sending fresh waves of that terrible cold through my system. I could feel something fundamental changing inside me, some essential part of my being locked away behind barriers I couldn't break.

"How does it feel?" Ryker asked, his voice gentle while his eyes watched me with clinical interest.

*Wonderful,* I managed to sign, though my hands shook with the effort. *I can feel its power.*

Maisie skipped back to us, her face bright with innocent joy. "Mama Harper looks so pretty with her new bracelet!" she exclaimed, clapping her hands.

But through the pack bond, her real thoughts were sharp as glass: *Now she's completely trapped, isn't she, Daddy? She can't fight back anymore?*

*That's right, princess,* Ryker's mental voice confirmed. *The binding will hold until after your brother is born. Then we won't need her anymore.*

I felt something die inside me—not the Harper who had loved and trusted, she was already gone. This was the death of hope itself, the final severing of any illusion that I might be wrong about their intentions.

The cold from the bracelet had settled into my bones now, a constant ache that reminded me with every heartbeat how completely I was trapped. But underneath that despair, something else began to grow. Something harder and more dangerous than the naive love I'd carried for five years.

Fury.

"We should head back," Ryker said, offering me his arm. "You need your rest."

I nodded, accepting his support while my mind raced. The bracelet was more than just a restraint—it was a leash. But every leash had two ends, and the one holding it could be pulled off balance if you knew how to use leverage.

As we made our way back down the mountain, Maisie chattering happily about the beautiful ceremony, I began to plan. They thought they had me completely under control now. They thought the deaf, broken vessel would never be able to threaten their perfect little family.

They were about to learn how wrong they could be.

That night, I lay in bed listening to Ryker's steady breathing beside me. The bracelet pulsed against my wrist like a second heartbeat, cold and alien. I waited until his breath deepened into true sleep, then carefully slipped from beneath the covers.

The floorboard came up easier this time, as if it knew I was coming. The iron box felt heavier in my hands, weighted with secrets that might finally give me the weapons I needed.

I carried it to the bathroom and locked the door, then sat on the floor with my back against the tub. The hairpin I'd hidden in my jewelry box made quick work of the padlock.

Inside, my fingers found papers—thick parchment covered in symbols similar to those on my bracelet. I spread them carefully on the tile floor, using my phone's flashlight to illuminate the pages.

The first document made my stomach lurch. It was a blood contract, written in flowing script that seemed to move in the phone's light. The title read: "Ritual of Genetic Implantation: Transferring Bloodline Essence to a Living Vessel."

I photographed every page, my hands trembling as the full scope of their plan became clear. They hadn't just used magic to implant Selene's genetic material in my womb. They had performed a complex ritual that would allow them to extract her complete bloodline from my body after birth, leaving me as nothing more than an empty shell.

But it was the final page that stopped my heart completely.

In stark black letters, a warning: "Should the vessel survive the extraction process, termination must occur within seven days. Failure to complete this step will result in automatic backlash, with the ritual's effects reversing upon the original caster."

Seven days. They were planning to kill me within a week of giving birth.

I stared at the words until they burned into my retinas, then carefully photographed this page as well. Evidence. Proof of their intentions, stored safely in the cloud where they could never reach it.

As I packed the documents back into their box, my fingers brushed against something else—a small vial filled with dark liquid. I held it up to the light, watching the contents swirl like liquid shadow.

The same substance I'd been drinking in my morning tea for months.

Not poison, I realized. Something far more insidious. A slow-acting potion designed to keep my body compliant, my wolf spirit suppressed, my mind foggy enough that I wouldn't question their care.

I screwed the cap back on and returned everything to its hiding place. By the time I slipped back into bed, Ryker was still sleeping peacefully, unaware that his perfect plan was beginning to unravel.

The bracelet pulsed against my wrist, cold and constraining. But now I understood what it really was—not just a prison, but a countdown timer.

I had four months to find a way to break free.

Four months to turn their own magic against them.

Four months to ensure that when the time came, I would be the one walking away from this nightmare.

And they would be the ones who paid the price.
