My Alpha Mate Poisoned Me: The Luna's Comeback Novel Cover

My Alpha Mate Poisoned Me: The Luna's Comeback

For twelve years, I was the shame of the Silver Moon Pack. A Luna who never shifted, a barren wife who couldn't give Alpha Ivan an heir. I thought my body was broken. But on my thirtieth birthday, I learned I wasn't sick. I was being murdered. Tracking Ivan to a downtown gallery, I expected to catch him in a lie about work. Instead, I saw him playing father to a child that wasn't mine, while his mistress looked on with a smirk. Then, I heard my own father’s voice booming through the thin glass. "If that White Wolf blood of hers ever woke up, she'd destroy us all. Better she dies a sickly Omega." My husband, my Fated Mate, didn't defend me. He just checked his watch. "She smells of death already. The Wolfsbane in her tea will finish her off during the fireworks tonight. Then we can finally replace the mule." My knees hit the floor. For five years, the "medicine" they forced down my throat wasn't a cure. It was poison designed to suppress my Supreme rank. They didn't hate me because I was weak; they were killing me because I was stronger than all of them combined. I drove back to the mansion, my sadness hardening into cold rage. I poured the lethal tea down the sink and picked up the microphone for the Pack Gathering. They were expecting a funeral tonight. I was about to give them a public execution.

Chapter 5

Aliana POV:

The Silver Moon Park was a cacophony of lights and noise.

I stood on Lover's Point, overlooking the park. *It was the perfect vantage point.*

I pulled out my binoculars.

Inside the VIP suite, the party was in full swing. Ivan was playing the doting father. Kiera was preening.

I checked my watch. 7:15 PM.

My phone vibrated. It was Debi.

*"I'm in the server room," she whispered. "I bribed the night tech. He's got the feed queued up. Just say the word."*

"Wait for the box," I said.

Through the binoculars, I saw a beta guard enter the suite holding the package.

Ivan frowned. He took it.

He tore off the paper. He opened the lid.

I saw him freeze.

Inside, the audio player was rigged to start automatically.

*She smells of death already... Put the mule down, Ivan...*

I saw Kiera's face go white. My father stepped forward, shouting.

"Now, Debi," I said.

The giant screens in the park suddenly flickered. Static hissed, silencing the crowd.

Then, my face appeared. *Pre-recorded an hour ago.*

"My name is Aliana Hughes," the video-me said. My voice boomed across the park. "And today is my thirtieth birthday."

In the VIP suite, Ivan was frantically trying to find the remote. *But Debi had locked the system out.*

"For five years," the video continued, "I have been sick. My husband told you I was broken."

The crowd gasped.

"But I wasn't sick," I said, holding up the medical report. "I was poisoned."

"Lies!" I could almost hear my father screaming.

"Wolfsbane," I said. "Administered by my parents... and my mate."

A low murmur of growls started to ripple through the crowd.

"They did this to hide a secret. And a secret about him."

On the screen, the photo of the fake DNA test appeared, followed by the real one.

"Leo Reese is not the Alpha's son," I declared. "He is the son of a Rogue."

In the suite, Ivan shoved Kiera away.

"I am leaving," the video-me said.

I took a deep breath on the screen.

"I, Aliana of the White Wolf bloodline..."

The crowd screamed.

"...reject you, Alpha Ivan Hughes, as my mate."

The words hit the air like a shockwave.

Up on the hill, I felt it. The bond snapped.

Pain ripped through my chest. *It felt like open heart surgery without anesthesia.* I fell to my knees.

But in the VIP suite, it was worse.

Ivan collapsed. He clutched his chest, screaming.

"I reject my parents," I continued. "And I sever my ties to the Silver Moon Pack."

The video cut to black.

Silence.

Then, chaos.

I stood up. The pain was fading, replaced by a strange lightness.

I turned away from the park.

*My body began to shift. It wasn't painful anymore. It was a release.*

My vision sharpened. The night air smelled richer.

I didn't need a mirror. I knew my eyes were glowing.

*And somewhere deep inside, the White Wolf threw back her head and howled.*

The bridal suite of the St. Regis was everything I'd dreamed of—crystal chandeliers casting prismatic light across ivory walls, fresh roses scenting the air, and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Manhattan's glittering skyline. The door burst open without warning, and Aunt Nancy swept in like a hurricane in Chanel, her oversized diamond earrings catching the light as she turned her nose up at everything in sight. "Oh, Emberly, dear." Her voice dripped with condescension as she circled me, inspecting my dress.

The scent hit me first—wild roses and rain, untamed and defiant. I paused in the doorway of my healing chamber, my hand instinctively moving to the mate mark on my neck as I watched Cairo guide the newcomer inside. She was beautiful in that dangerous way rogues often were, all sharp edges and predatory grace, her dark hair cascading over shoulders that held themselves like she owned every room she entered. "Claire," Cairo's voice cut through my assessment, cold and dismissive as always. "This is Winona Webb. She requires vocal enhancement treatment." Winona turned toward me, and I saw the calculation in her amber eyes as she took in my healer's robes, the Luna crystals at my throat, the deference that should have been automatic. Instead, she smiled—a slow, mocking curve of lips that made my wolf bristle. "So you're the famous Luna healer," she said, her voice like honey over broken glass. Even speaking casually, there was something mesmerizing about her tone, layers of melody that seemed to wrap around the listener. "I've heard so much about your...

On the day of my mate ceremony, my brother, Lucian Jenkins, future Gamma of the Blue Moon Pack, splashed red wine all over my ceremonial gown. "Zendaya, you know Amina has feelings for Beta Kyler. Why are you making such a fuss about this ceremony?" My intended mate, Kyler Jordan, Beta of the Silver Fang Pack, stood there nonchalantly, leaning against the door frame, his voice calm and composed: "I'll give you two options: first, wear this stained gown and proceed with the ceremony." "Second, apologize to Amina, cheer her up, and then I’ll announce the ceremony is postponed." But I chose a different path. I stood before our pack members and allies in my ceremonial gown and declared that I was rejecting the mate bond with Kyler Jordan. Brother, mate, sister... I decided I didn’t need any of them. But as soon as I left, I heard that the two most influential packs in the region had gone into a frenzy. They sought out the world’s top designers in a futile attempt to salvage a gown stained with red wine. Just as I was changing into a ceremonial gown I had cherished for ten years, Lucian barged into the dressing room. Before I could admire myself in the mirror, the young man who bore a striking resemblance to me kicked open the dressing room door.
