Midnight Vows and Blood Oaths
On New Year's Eve, when the city is noisy with excitement and hope, Aria Moretti merely wants to hide.
Instead, she finds a dying guy in an alley-bleeding, dangerous, and inexplicably quiet.
Dante Russo is not a stranger fate intended her to save. He is a man made by violence, linked by blood oaths and secrets that may kill her. Helping him means crossing a line she can never uncross. Letting him go means surviving... but losing something she never knew she wanted.
As love burns in the shadows and danger follows them through locked doors and whispered threats, Aria must decide how much of herself she is willing to risk for a man who lives in darkness.
Because loving Dante doesn't only mean heartbreak.
It signifies blood. It signifies battle. And it implies that after midnight passes, there is no turning back.

Chapter 5
Aria's POV
The knock emerged again-slow, deliberate.
Not rushed. Not afraid.
Dante didn't move. His body was a wall in front of me, firm and uncompromising. I could feel the tension in him, the barely contained violence waiting to be unleashed.
"Stay here," he muttered without turning back.
My heart hammered so loudly I was convinced whoever stood on the other side could hear it. "Dante... who is it?"
He didn't answer.
The door clicked open just enough to reveal a man standing in the corridor. Tall. Well-dressed. Calm in a way that made my skin crawl. His gaze slid passed Dante-straight to me.
A smile curved his lips.
"Aria Moretti," he said smoothly. "You're harder to find than I expected."
My breath fled. "You... know me?"
Dante stepped forward, rifle raised. "You shouldn't be here, Bellini."
Bellini chuckled, unaffected by the weapon pointed at his chest. "Still so dramatic, Dante. Relax. If I wanted her dead, she wouldn't be standing."
That didn't help. My knees felt weak.
Bellini's eyes softened-too contrived to be real. "You look just like her mother," he added. "Same eyes. Same stubborn fire."
My chest clenched uncomfortably.
"You knew my mother?"
His smile vanished.
"Very well."
Dante's voice fell, murderous. "Say what you came to say and leave."
Bellini sighed, as if bored. "Fine. I came to warn her." His attention returned to me. "You don't belong to yourself, Aria. You never have."
My stomach twisted. "What does that mean?"
He tilted his head. "It indicates your life was guaranteed long before you were born. And now that you've been seen with him..." He glanced at Dante. "...every powerful family will come knocking."
"Liar," I murmured, but terror gripped tightly around my chest.
Bellini leaned closer. "Check the mark on your wrist. Ask him what it genuinely means."
Dante stiffened.
That silence-sharp and telling-terrified me more than Bellini's remarks.
Bellini straightened, satisfied. "Enjoy your night, Aria. Choose carefully who you trust." He halted at the door. "Because love is the fastest way to die in our world."
The door closed behind him.
I turned slowly to Dante, my heart breaking and rushing all at once. "You knew," I said. "Didn't you?"
His jaw stiffened. His eyes clouded.
"Yes," he admitted gently. "And if you stay with me..."
He went closer, lifting my wrist carefully, his thumb stroking the mark like it scorched him.
"...they'll never stop coming."
My voice shook. "Then why save me?"
His answer was quick. Honest. Terrifying.
"Because I already selected you."

The first clue my life was a lie was a moan from the guest room. My husband of seven years wasn't in our bed. He was with my intern.
I discovered my husband, Brendan, was having a four-year affair with Kiya-the talented girl I was mentoring and personally paying tuition for.
The next morning, she sat at our breakfast table in his shirt while he made us pancakes. He lied to my face, promising he'd never love another, just before I learned she was pregnant with his child-a child he'd always refused to have with me.
The two people I trusted most in the world had conspired to destroy me. The pain wasn't something I could live with; it was an annihilation of my entire world.
So I made a call to a neuroscientist about his experimental, irreversible procedure. I didn't want revenge. I wanted to erase every memory of my husband and become his first test subject.

"I'm sorry, Dam," she said softly, her voice smooth as silk. "I shouldn't have walked away. I missed you."
My heart clenched.
She stepped closer, her fingers brushing against his beard like she'd done it a thousand times before. He didn't pull away.
"Selene..." Damon said again, this time lower, almost breathless.
Every inch of my body burned with disbelief. I had to look away to stop my tears from falling.
Selene's eyes flicked toward me, and for the first time, she seemed to notice I was there. Her expression didn't falter.
"And who's this?" she asked, her tone casual, almost bored.
Damon hesitated. "That's...."
"Aria," I cut in, my voice sharp. "His Luna."
Her eyes widened slightly, then her lips curved into a slow smile. "Luna?" she repeated, like the word was a joke. "Oh, you're the omega Luna?"
I felt my wolf stir inside me. Let me out, she growled.
