Chapter 3

Once we were out of their sight, I let go of his hand.

"Thanks for earlier. How much were the shoes? I'll transfer the money to you."

Logan, however, fixed his gaze on me, as if he were trying to see straight into my soul. Without a word, he tightened his grip on my hand.

"Rosalind, your engagement with the Gilberts hasn't been annulled, so…"

"So what?" I took the lead, backing him against the wall, my voice low and teasing as I leaned closer to his ear. "What is it you want to say?"

His face flushed bright red. He shoved me away, stammering, "I-I just think it wouldn't be so bad if we get married."

This six-foot-tall man, now fidgeting with his hands like a shy schoolboy, made me chuckle.

I slid a room key card into his hand. "Come find me at 8:00 PM tonight."

A woman handing a man a room key—there was no need to spell out what that implied.

As the clock on the wall ticked closer to 8:00 PM, I couldn't help but wonder what Logan would choose.

The doorbell rang before long.

I opened the door to see Logan standing there, wearing a deep V-neck shirt that accentuated his broad chest.

I stepped aside, inviting him in.

Logan sat nervously on the edge of the bed.

"Logan," I said softly, "let's get married."

His eyes lit up with hope. "Really?"

I nodded. "Yes, but it'll be a fake marriage. After all, I can't just let it slide after being cheated on. I need some payback."

Hearing this, his expression dimmed, but he nodded in agreement.

Our wedding proceeded as planned under the terms of the original engagement.

On the big day, I walked into the grand hall draped in white lace, my hand resting lightly on Logan's arm.

We went through the entire ceremony, and, of course, Norris showed up with Jasmine in tow. His face was a storm cloud of emotions, his expression a mix of resentment and disbelief.

I waved at him, my voice gentle as I spoke, "Norris, guess what? I'm your sister-in-law now."

His face turned a furious shade of red, his jaw clenched tightly. Jasmine, however, rolled her eyes and snapped, "So what if you married into the family? There's nothing impressive about it."

Logan's gaze darkened as he stared down Norris, his voice cold and commanding. "Norris, don't bring just anyone around here. Now call Rosalind 'Sister-in-law', or I'll freeze all your credit cards."

Norris, utterly useless without his unlimited spending, had no choice but to comply. Begrudgingly, he muttered, "Sister-in-law."

Pleased, I leaned over and planted a light kiss on Logan's cheek. "Honey, you're the best!"

Logan's face immediately turned crimson, his ears burning.

That night, we shared a room, and I noticed the shadow of someone standing outside the door.

It was Norris. He was actually eavesdropping on his brother's wedding night.

I tugged on Logan's collar, leaning close to his ear. "Your brother's lurking outside. You know what to do."

Logan nodded despite looking utterly clueless. I pushed him onto the bed, making sure to raise my voice dramatically.

"Easy, you're hurting me!"

The bed creaked conspicuously, the sound echoing through the room. Beneath me, Logan's face was as red as a ripe tomato, his body taut with tension.

In a low, restrained voice, he whispered, "Rosalind, don't move."

I froze, startled by the heat radiating off him.

His lips parted slightly. "Rosalind, do you love me?"

The question caught me completely off guard. My thoughts scattered, but I responded without hesitation, "No."

He loosened his hold on me, his expression crestfallen. "I see. I'll help you get your revenge on my brother."

For some reason, seeing him like that made my chest tighten uncomfortably.
