Marked for Ruin, Chosen for Rebirth

In a world ruled by packs and sacred bonds, Raelyn thought her life as Luna of the Silver Moon Pack would bring her love and belonging. Instead, it left her trapped in a hollow marriage to Alpha Kieran, her fated mate who betrayed her for another—the cunning and ruthless Selene, daughter of the North Wind Alpha. On the night of their fifth anniversary, Raelyn endures public humiliation, false accusations, and a devastating loss—her unborn child poisoned by Selene's schemes. Broken and discarded, she realizes her life has been a lie, her bond to Kieran nothing more than a shackle forged in grief. But when the Blood Moon rises, Raelyn sees a chance for freedom. With the ancient lore offering a way to sever the mate bond, she must summon her strength and risk everything to reclaim her life, her dignity, and a future for herself. This is a story of betrayal, resilience, and revenge—a tale of a woman rising from the ashes to confront her destiny under the blood-red sky.

Chapter 1

On the night of our five-year bond anniversary, I watched my mate wrap his arm around another she-wolf.

His hand rested low on her waist—possessive, practiced. Her fingers grazed his chest with the kind of ease that only comes from long-standing secrets.

They laughed—too close, too familiar. Like I was the stranger. The intruder. The one who no longer belonged.

Her name? Selene.

Golden-haired. Silver-tongued. Daughter of the North Wind Alpha. The perfect Luna in their eyes. The perfect liar in mine.

And Kieran— my Alpha.

The male who once marked me as his, who promised to protect me— Looked at her like she hung the damn moon. While I stood there, invisible. Unwanted. Five years of loyalty crushed beneath his boots.

But the betrayal didn't end there.

Selene accused me of theft.

Kieran told me to apologize.

She handed me a glass of wine.

He let me drink it.

And I— I lost everything that night.

My child. My dignity. My illusion of love.

While they toasted their alliance, I lay bleeding in the healer's tent, discarded like a broken vow.

But I remember who I was before the mark.

Before I let love silence me.

Before I became something soft for someone who only saw me as a shadow.

Now, the Blood Moon is rising. And this time, I want revenge.

...

Tonight was supposed to be special.

The fifth anniversary of my mating with Alpha Kieran—and the welcoming ceremony for the North Wind delegation.

I stood by the bonfire, dressed in a silver-white Luna gown, trying to keep a smile on my face. As the Luna of the Silver Moon Pack, this should've been a moment of pride. But the sting in my chest returned the moment I saw Kieran laughing and chatting with Selene.

Selene—daughter of the North Wind Alpha. Tall, blonde, blue-eyed. Everything about her screamed highborn and powerful. She stood too close to Kieran, her lips curved in a knowing smirk, her fingers brushing against his arm as if she belonged there.

And my Alpha—my fated mate—didn't seem to mind. In fact, he looked like he enjoyed every second of it.

"So this is Silver Moon's Luna? Looks more like a stray someone dragged in," Selene said, her voice loud enough for everyone nearby to hear.

I held my smile, though my fingers curled into tight fists.

It's been five years. Five long years of giving everything I had to this Pack. But no matter how hard I tried, many still saw me as an outsider—a rogue wolf marked out of pity.

"I heard she doesn't even know what pack she came from. Alpha only marked her out of mercy," Selene went on, her voice dripping with malice.

I turned my eyes toward Kieran, silently begging him to say something, to defend me.

But he just looked at me with cold indifference.

Then he turned to Selene and said, "There's no need to waste your breath on the Luna. She's nothing but an empty shell to me."

My chest tightened. I was the Luna. I should've been respected, honored. But ever since he started favoring Selene, the whole pack had begun treating me like I didn't matter.

And then I saw it—Kieran's hand resting on Selene's shoulder. So casual. So intimate. A gesture he had never once given me in public.

I dropped my gaze, one hand moving to rest over my belly. Just a slight curve. Three months along. Our pup growing quietly inside me.

I hadn't told anyone. Not even Kieran.

I was planning to share the news tonight—on our mating anniversary. I thought maybe… maybe he'd soften, if only out of duty.

But now, I know that was just wishful thinking.

"She looks like she's about to run back to the woods," I heard an Omega whisper nearby, followed by quiet laughter.

I was used to this. Since the day I was marked, whispers had followed me wherever I went. Rogue. Unworthy. Luna in name only. My place in the Pack rested entirely on Kieran's claim—and even that was starting to feel paper-thin.

Elder Drake approached, one of the few who'd ever shown me kindness.

"Don't mind the talk, Luna," he said gently. "Tonight is important. This alliance with North Wind could change everything for Silver Moon."

I nodded, forcing a polite smile. "I understand, Elder. The Pack comes first."

His eyes darkened. "Still… Selene and her father seem unusually focused on you. Be careful."

His warning tightened something in my chest. I knew how pack politics worked. Alliances were often sealed through mating bonds.

Was that what this was? Kieran's sudden closeness with the North Wind Alpha's daughter?

I didn't want to believe it. But as I watched them, standing shoulder to shoulder, I couldn't ignore the sinking feeling in my gut.

The drums around the fire grew louder as the celebration reached its peak. Pack members began performing the traditional dances.

Normally, the Alpha and Luna would lead the first dance together.

But Kieran didn't even glance my way. He stayed close to Selene, surrounded by Silver Moon's top warriors and North Wind's envoys, deep in talks of treaties and plans.

I stood alone at the edge of the crowd, the mark on the back of my neck tingling with a dull ache.

The mating mark—meant to be sacred. A symbol of love and protection. But to me, it felt like a collar. A reminder of how trapped I really was.

"Luna, not joining the discussion?" Selene called out suddenly, her voice sweet but mocking. "Or do rogues not understand pack politics?"

She giggled, covering her mouth like a dainty noblewoman.

"Maybe Alpha doesn't allow you to speak up? Funny, he shares all the pack gossip with me during our late-night talks."

All eyes turned to me. Even Kieran's. His stare was sharp, warning me not to cause trouble.

I took a deep breath, straightened my back, and walked toward them.

"I'm still Luna of this Pack," I said clearly, "and I don't remember giving you the right to speak for me."

Selene raised a brow, slightly surprised. She folded her arms, glancing at Kieran. "Your Luna has a temper, Alpha. Is that allowed here in Silver Moon?"

I saw Kieran's jaw clench—a sign he was holding back anger. I'd seen it too many times before.

"Raelyn is still adjusting to her role," he said coldly. "She was a rogue, after all."

It hit like a slap. Five years, and he still saw me that way. As someone unworthy. As someone who could never truly belong.

The fire crackled beside us, lighting up Kieran's sharp features. So much like Liam—his brother. Same strong build, same chiseled jaw.

But the soul beneath? Completely different.

Liam had been kind. Loyal. Protective. Everything Kieran wasn't.

But I was marked. Bound to this Pack. This life. This Alpha.

And Kieran… maybe I was just a convenient Luna. A cover for the real affair happening in plain sight.

The celebration roared on, laughter and music mixing with the scent of roasted meat and sweet wine. But it all felt distant, like I was watching it from behind a wall of glass.

Then, at the peak of the night, I looked up.

The Silver Moon hung high above, but something was off—its edge glowing red.

Blood Moon.

An omen in wolf lore. A sign of transformation. Of destiny shifting.

And as I stood there, one thought grew stronger in my heart:

I can't live like this anymore.

For my pup.

For myself.

It's time to find a new path.

Couldn't, it seemed.
