Let Me Melt Away
Chapter 5
Vicky arrived and threw my backpack at Dustin. All the miscellaneous items in the bag fell out.
The heavy cell phone smashed Dustin's forehead; blood gushed out instantly. Vicky then charged forward and slapped him hard.
"I could only find her backpack there. It contains all her geological exploration tools. She spent a lot of time and effort to purchase those tools. She once told me that she would rather lose her life than lose her tools."
Tears fell uncontrollable down Vicky's cheeks. She covered her face and shook her head continuously as she said, "I think something terrible must have happened to her; otherwise, she would not have left her backpack..."
I could not help but start crying too.
The backpack was the evidence I tried my best to throw to the shore with all my strength. I did not expect the person who found it in the end was not my husband.
As he looked at how emotionally devastated Vicky was, Dustin, on the other hand, did not have any sense of guilt.
He frowned and sneered, "Well, where are you hiding her?
"Is this a play she asked you to act for her?
"She still thinks that I shouldn't help Celine make her last wish come true? When will she be more sensible? Celine only has a little time left, so what if I give her the child? How much will she have with the baby?"
"Forget it… It's alright, Dustin. I can live with some regrets in my life," Celine said with tears in her eyes.
Vicky was so angry that she was breathing heavily. She was about to stand up and charged toward Celine.
However, before Vicky could reach Celine, someone suddenly rushed out from behind her.
Slap, slap!
Celine was slapped hard.
"You are a witch!" My mother stared at Celine viciously. Her eyes were burning with anger. "How dare you think of taking away my family's baby!"
Dustin raised his hand and pushed my mother away.
My mother screamed and fell to the ground, causing a long bloody mark on her elbow.
Dustin's facial expression looked extremely horrible. "Kelly, I respect you as an elder. Please behave yourself. Don't push it too far!"
My mother covered her bleeding arm and sneered, "Isn't it just a divorce? I'll make the decision for Samantha. You will get a divorce immediately."
Dustin's face had never looked so ugly. He chuckled and said disdainfully, "Kelly, if you can make the decision for Samantha, she would not have begged to marry me back then."
That really hit me terribly. It turned out that Dustin felt that my love for him was me digging my own grave.
I stared at Dustin, who was completely heartless. I was dazed.
A phone ring broke the silence. Dustin answered the call. It was a call from the police station.
"Hello, is this Mr. Dustin White? Is Samantha Freeman your wife? This is the police."
Dustin sneered and pressed the loudspeaker, "Where did you find the extras for your act? You even get the police to call."
The person on the line read out his police identification number.
"After some searching effort, we located a body in the lava lake. We have performed DNA comparison analysis and confirmed that the body is Ms. Samantha Freeman."
