Let Me Melt Away
Chapter 3
"What are you still standing there for? We need to get down the mountain quickly; Celine is not feeling well."
Everyone rushed down the mountain in a hurry. Vicky was left alone to fight against the odds.
I wanted to catch up with Vicky, but I was trapped beside Dustin. I had to go down the mountain with them.
Celine's health problem was not really serious; she just had a scare. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
Without Vicky being around, no one thought of me.
The next day, Celine was about to be discharged from the hospital. Dustin called me then.
The cold female automated voice prompted that my phone was turned off. Dustin frowned and sent a voice message to my phone.
"Where the hell are you? Do not think that you can threaten me by going missing! Come to the hospital immediately to pick Celine up. She will be living with us during this period. You shall take care of her."
I was floating in the air, watching him go crazy with the voice message, looking ridiculous.
'Where the hell am I? I have, of course, died in the deep lake of lava. The place where you stood by and watched. I have also, of course, died in the hands of your dear soulmate.
Dustin, who did not get a reply from me, had to take a taxi home.
My mother, Kelly, had been waiting at the door for a long time.
She frowned when she saw Dustin. She then asked, "Where is Samantha? Why didn't she answer the phone?"
Dustin was stunned for a moment. "She didn't answer your call too?"
"What do you mean?" A dash of panic flashed in my mother's eyes. Her brows were tightly knitted, and she asked, "I heard that you all met with an accident when you went out for geological exploration together the day before yesterday?"
Dustin took out his cell phone immediately and dialed my number. There was still no answer.
Dustin explained, "She ran away that day. She is probably angry that I didn't save her immediately, so she is giving me the silent treatment."
My mother's face looked horrible. "Samantha is not that immature and ignorant. She didn't answer my call; something must have happened. I'll call the police now!"
My mother's eyes turned red with anger and anxiety. "Dustin, I will hold you responsible if something happens to Samantha.
"Don't forget, your family has many projects that are depending on us."
Celine whispered immediately, "Dustin, you must not let Kelly call the police. It would look bad if others were to know we left Samantha behind."
Dustin frowned and said, "Kelly, why do you have to make a big deal out of this?"
He grabbed my mother and pushed her into the house. "I have told you, Samantha is just in a cold war with me! If you call the police, it will involve our work. Things may even go out of control.
"A family's conflict should not be made public. Why do you want to do this?"
My mother was so angry that she was shaking all over. She asked in disbelief, "What are you doing? Are you locking me up?"
Dustin locked the door and said coldly, "Don't worry, I will contact her now. I will get your daughter to appear safely in front of you."
Dustin reached out his cell phone and sent me a message.
[Stop creating trouble and get back here instantly! Samantha, if you continue to act with such ignorance, I will really consider divorcing you.]
My body trembled when I saw his message. A cold grin then appeared at the corner of my mouth.
Divorce?
It would be great if I still had the chance to divorce him. Unfortunately, I was no longer able to do that.
Dustin's cell phone rang suddenly. He did not even look at the screen but picked up the call instantly, "Samantha! What the hell are you doing?"
