Chapter 5

ANDRE

“Stop. Please just stop already.” She said voice barely audible.

Mostly all I heard was a mumbled sentence. Nothing more.

“Huh? Say something?” I asked as we both paused for a minute.

“Stop.” She muttered.

It sounded like her mouth had gone dry and I stopped myself from thinking about what it would feel like to feel the pain even once.

Since finding out she was my mate, I’d never felt the pain not even once.

That showed she had never been with another man not even partially.

“That’s enough,” I told Lara as I urged her to get off me.

She stared at me in confusion.

“What the fuck is going on?” She scowled. She sounded agitated.

Her face was a dark mask with a heavy grimace that would scare most men but sadly I wasn’t most men.

I found it amusing.

The girl, Claire , struggled to her feet.

She was regaining her color a little and her breathing had leveled.

“You wouldn’t believe it if I told you, babe,” I said grinning.

I rolled on the bed moving to the dresser, I grabbed a robe and wrapped it around my body fastening the straps.

“Claire here happens to be my mate,” I said to Lara.

“How’s that for a mind fuck?”

Lara gasped in shock.

“So just now- ”

“Yeah, she was in excruciating pain.”

I could see I had upset Lara. She couldn’t walk up to me and call me on my bullshit which was a trait that made her less attractive to me.

She was so scared of losing me that she could take just about any bullshit I threw her way.

She sighed as she struggled into her clothes.

Lara was going to leave just so she could cry into the arms of Bella, my older sister.

Her routine was the most predictable thing in the world and it was starting to get irritating.

“Are you okay?” I asked Claire.

She nodded as she stood upright.

Her legs were still unsteady and it was a wonder that she still had the strength to stand.

Having her in the room with us while we fucked had definitely increased the effect by a thousand.

Lara got dressed and then walked up to the door.

She stopped when she got to Claire’s side.

“Stay away from my man or I’d come for you with everything I have.”

Claire nodded and she left with that.

“Women, right?” I commented with a sigh.

She just stood quiet.

“You’re the daughter of Dean Sterling, right?” I asked.

“The death shadow of the East,” I added mockingly.

She watched me with rage burning with a dangerous intensity in her eyes but she managed to confirm my suspicion with a nod.

She had the same eyes as her Father. He was the most legendary Alpha at the time I was just a pup.

They had given him the title ‘Death Shadow of the East’ because of how he could destroy his enemies without them having the slightest clue.

I used to idolize the man. Alpha of the Dark moon pack. That was till he was killed along with his household during the great purge.

Ultimately, he had been a traitor just like the rest of the Alphas who had been executed along with him.

My father had been loyal to the crown.

“The daughter of a cowardly traitor. And I’m meant to be your mate.” I said laughing out loud.

“My father was no coward.” She said agitatedly.

I grinned. So she had the same rebellious spirit as her Father. I thought she was going to take my insults with her head low.

“That doesn’t change the fact you’re the spawn of a traitor,” I said, mocking her.

“A traitor according to the corrupt biased Crown which you all serve?”

My smile slipped. She was even more rebellious than I thought.

What she had just said could easily be taken as an act of treason.

She had just insulted the integrity of the Crown.

“You’re just like him. Stupid and blinded by ideologies of the old way.” I said.

I walked closer to her seeing the striking effect of her electric blue eyes. Her eyes looked like they possessed cosmic energy that could power up galaxies.

“I can’t be your mate. I just proved that to you some minutes ago,” I said referring to the painful experience.

“I know it’s going to hurt a lot but I have to reject you as my mate.”

I knew she would be sad if I rejected her but there was no other way around it.

I needed to be free from the Jasmine scent that plagued my senses without warning. Naturally, she would be devastated to hear she was about to be rejected by the future Alpha of the Red Moon Pack.

Any girl in her position would feel the same way.

“What are you waiting for then? Go ahead” She said nonchalantly.

For a minute I stood shocked unable to fully process what she had just said.

She sounded as if she wanted to be rejected by me.

She sounded relieved at my suggestion.

“Are you serious?” I asked.

I couldn’t believe she was serious but then she nodded.

“Yes, sir. Go ahead and reject me.”

Her red hair looked like wildfire cupping her small delicate face.

The dried blood on her face was hers. Probably from a guard using her as target practice.

“What’s this?” I asked, pointing at the blood on her face. She tried to wipe it off but without water, she was just messing around.

“Blood.” She answered.

“I know that,” I said with a heavy sigh.

“What I meant to ask was why is there blood smear on your face.”

“You know why it’s there plus you don’t care so just reject me and get it over with.” She said as her body tensed.

I walked up to her, giving her a cocky gaze.

She didn’t flinch as she matched the look in my eyes with hers.

“You look like you mean it.” I mused.

“Sure. I mean it.” She said confirming what I already knew.

It was strange that she was fine with being rejected by one of the most powerful men in the world.

She was nothing but a slave for crying out loud.

“Ok then. I’m going to reject you now.” I said.

“It’s Claire Sterlings, right?”

She nodded.

It pissed me off that she wasn’t even the least bit shaken that she was about to be rejected.

Was she stupid or was it something related to stupidity?

“I, Andre Mitchell, the future Alpha of the Red Moon Pack hereby reject you, Claire Sterling l as my mate. Do you accept this full mind and body?”.

A smile crossed her face as she said, “Sure. I agree to it.”

Something was wrong with Roman's scent. I noticed it first on a Tuesday evening when he returned from what he called "emergency pack meetings." The familiar warmth of cedar and mountain rain that had comforted me for six years was still there, but underneath it lurked something foreign—a musky, exotic floral scent that clung to his clothes like a possessive whisper. My wolf, Luna, stirred uneasily in my chest as I helped him out of his jacket. The scent was distinctly feminine, rich and heady in a way that made my stomach clench with an inexplicable dread. I buried my face in the fabric, pretending to straighten the collar while my heart hammered against my ribs. "Long meeting?" I asked, keeping my voice light as I hung the jacket in our closet. Roman's response was a noncommittal grunt as he headed for the shower. "Pack business. Nothing you need to worry about." The dismissal stung more than it should have. As Luna, pack business was my business too.
