Chapter 1

Inside a suite at the Horizon Hotel. "Nathan, please, let me go..." Rosalyn Carter begged. Her breathing grew uneven, as if the air around her had suddenly grown thin. Nathan Harvey watched her with a dark expression. His presence alone felt oppressive. "Why are you begging me?" he asked coldly. A trace of mockery crept into his voice. "I'm getting married. I need to get back to my fiancé..." A faint tremor entered Rosalyn's voice as she lowered her head. Her neck bent slightly and revealed the smooth curve of her neck. Nathan's eyes shifted away from her. On the gray desk nearby rested the documents Rosalyn had brought with her. Those papers had been meant for business. Rosalyn came here to deliver cooperation files for her fiancé. Yet somehow, she encountered her ex boyfriend. And he refused to let her leave. Nathan reached out and caught her chin between his fingers, forcing her to face him. "Rosalyn, do you want me to remind you what happened eight years ago?" Color draining from her face, Rosalyn stared at him, shaking. Eight years earlier, her life had been tangled up in a mess. She needed money to save her seriously ill mother; to foot the hospital bills, she had no choice but to cling to some rich guy. Nathan had thus become her boyfriend. After that, they'd been together for three years. Their relationship remained unchanged until the day she learned about his engagement to a fair lady from a wealthy family. After handing her a sum of money, he disappeared from her world altogether. For four months, Rosalyn waited for him to show up in her life again. However, he never did. In her mind, those memories had already faded into the past. But five years later, Nathan suddenly walked back into her life. Now, he stood at the top of the business world. With a single sentence, he could ruin her fiancé's company or bring it back to life. He said, "The contract is still sitting there. Once I sign it, your fiancé will receive a fifty-million investment. You know what I want." Rosalyn bit her lower lips. Finally, she caved in. .... Darkness had already settled outside. "Your fiancé called earlier." His eyes moved across her before he added, "I declined the call for you." "You!" The shock pulled Rosalyn back to her senses. She grabbed her phone. The screen lit up with several missed calls. Every single one came from Andrew Murray, her fiancé. Her fingers trembled as she clicked into his messages. "Did you deliver the document?" "Why aren't you answering?" "Honey, I'm worried. Did something happen?" "I found the hotel Nathan is staying at. I'm downstairs now. Are you in there?" "He's here." The final message made her heart slam against her chest. At that exact moment, the room phone began ringing. Before she could reach it, Nathan picked it up. He listened for a moment. Then, his voice turned cold. "Send him up." Rosalyn's composure shattered. "Nathan, what are you trying to do? Are you seriously going to let him know about us? Yes, I was with you five years ago. I even asked for a huge breakup fee when we ended things. But I'm about to get married now. Why are you determined to ruin everything for me?"

Claimed By My Fiancé's Ruthless Uncle

I spent our third anniversary alone in our penthouse, adjusting a white rose and waiting for a man who didn't want to come home. When my fiancé, Chris Osborne, finally arrived, he didn't notice the 1982 Lafite or the dinner I’d prepared. He looked at me with disgust, calling my desire for a wedding date "pressure" before storming out to a private club. I followed him, hiding behind a marble pillar at The Vault as I recorded his voice on my phone. He was laughing with his friends about a $20 million bet. He called me a "boring ice queen" and a "marble statue," explaining that he only needed to keep me around until the merger closed so he could steal my shares and "cut me loose." To make it worse, my own father was in on it, prioritizing his stock price over his daughter's life. Broken and barefoot in a torrential Manhattan downpour, I sought refuge at the Four Seasons. I collapsed into the arms of a tall, dangerous-looking stranger and begged him to take me upstairs. I wanted to be erased, to forget the transaction my life had become. After a night of salt and desperation, I left my engagement ring on his nightstand as payment for services rendered and fled. The next morning, I realized I had jumped from the frying pan into the furnace. My "stranger" wasn't a nobody. He was Gallagher Osborne—the ruthless patriarch of the family and my fiancé’s uncle. He tracked me to a private clinic, trapping me in a room while holding my medical file and the ring I’d discarded. He told me I was his now, and that he’d dismantle Chris piece by piece if I didn't comply. I was a piece of currency to my father, a bet to my fiancé, and a prize to his uncle. I had no allies, no escape, and no mercy left. I realized that being the "perfect daughter" had only made me a target. If they wanted to play games with the "Ice Queen," I decided to give them a frostbite they would never forget. I trashed my art gallery, backdated a diagnosis for a psychotic break, and sent a cryptic suicide note to Chris. As Gallagher watched from the shadows and Chris panicked over his investment, I began the process of scorching the earth. The merger was still happening, but I wasn't the bride anymore—I was the wrecking ball.
