Chapter 3

It was not easy for me to finally open my eyes to see who it was, and I immediately saw someone very familiar from my past life. It was Aurora's maid, Leia.

Leia was actually my maid, but after I got pregnant, she started adding peanut butter to my food, which I was allergic to. By the time I realized what she did, I was on the brink of dying. I refused to let Leia get away with it, but just as I was about to kick her out of the family, Victor entered the room with his arms around Aurora.

I could still remember the cold look Victor gave me. He acted as if I were not his wife but a nemesis.

Aurora sobbed until her voice was hoarse and grabbed Leia's hand while looking at me pitifully. "How can you be so cruel, Isabella? Aren't you still alive? Why must you kick Leia out of the family? She'll die if she leaves. It's a horrible thing you're doing to her! Why don't you let Leia work for me instead, Victor? I can't bear to see Isabella kicking her out."

Victor turned to Aurora and sighed helplessly. "You're always so soft-hearted. Aurora is right, Isabella. Why must you be so petty when you're still alive? Let Aurora have Leia, and stop making a huge fuss over small issues like this in the future.

I stared incredulously at Victor. I was pregnant with his baby, and I almost died from an anaphylactic shock, yet he felt that I should not hold it against Leia just because I did not die. This did not make sense at all!

However, I was still very in love with Victor then, and I was convinced that Aurora was the one who was manipulating him into this. I thought I should have a bigger heart because I was Victor's legitimate wife while Aurora was just a disreputable mistress, which was why I tolerated the behavior.

This continued until the day I overheard Victor's conversation with Aurora. His eyes were filled with adoration when he was speaking to her. "Don't be so obvious the next time you put peanut butter into her food. I won't help you again if you're discovered again the next time."

Aurora hugged Victor's arm as she said coquettishly, "I know, I know. I'm really grateful to you this time."

Leia was smiling next to them as this was happening, and they looked so cozy being together. Chills ran down my spine when I realized I was the only one unaware of what was happening.

I was filled with intense hatred, and seeing Leia again only made me extremely agitated.

However, Leia interpreted my reaction as a sign of fear. She was initially reserved but gradually started to show her true colors. "Mr. Villani has already said that he would be keeping Ms. Blanco company, Mrs. Villani. As for you, you're alive, aren't you? Stop harassing him, or he'll divorce you right away. Not only that, he'll make the baby inside you call Ms. Blanco his mother instead.

"Mr. Villani has also made it clear that he never loved you. He married you because of the money and power your family has, and it helped him stabilize his position within the family. You should consider yourself lucky that he is kind enough to keep you around now that he is head of security in the family. Cause any further trouble and death will be the only thing awaiting you!"

Frank's face fell after listening to what Leia said. He smashed the glass in his hand on the ground, and all his men immediately knelt behind him when they heard the commotion. However, Leia was oblivious to everything that was happening.

Leia continued taunting me openly with glee, "Stop wasting your time, Mrs. Villani. Your little scheme of hurting yourself to gain Mr. Villani's sympathy isn't working at all. It's a mistake to think that you can make Mr. Villani jealous with this side piece. I'll be honest with Mr. Villani and tell him that you're cheating on him with this gigolo when you're still pregnant. What do you think Mr. Villani will do once he finds out about this? Tear you apart or feed you to the sharks?"

She was basking in delight with her insults and had mistaken Frank for the man I was committing adultery with because he had changed into normal black clothes after his suit was dirtied during the assassination attempt.

Frank's expression had turned dark. He sneered and ordered the bodyguards who had arrived to hold Leia down. Leia panicked, and she tried to say something when she realized what had just happened, but the bodyguards gagged her and dragged her off.

"Throw her into the shark tank and show Victor the body after that. I'd like to know how powerful Victor is to be able to let Ms. Abba suffer such humiliation!"

I blinked in surprise when I heard Frank calling me 'Ms. Abba'. He was treating me as a separate entity from Victor. I knew then that I had made the right move.
