Emyr speaking everyone. How have you been? So, this author is so lousy with her writing so I am telling her to type what I am saying right now. Since I have started the story at the exciting part, I hope you are still interested in reading how they encountered each other for the first time. *Switches to a hush voice* I  promise you that the story is more exciting as it goes!

Oh, by the way, I have goven some images of Caelum to the author. I hope she post it along with my dialogue. Thanks!

CHAPTER 1

CAELON

“Cunard!”

I groaned as I felt the pain upon my back, my tattered boxers were barely hanging upon my hips as I struggled to put my coat on. The enraged blonde woman was swearing at me in French but it doesn’t seem to wipe the smirk off my face only to groan when I remember the exact words of Gaea.

I need to find a wife before the next thanksgiving feast.

I realize how my plan had failed the moment I laid my eyes upon the angry blonde. Emyr was right. I definitely need to hire a wife and not just hook with anyone from the clubs that I go to. Maybe his idea is better.

The blonde woman continue to scream. I can’t remember what her name is, after all, she was just a fling for me.  She started throwing things at me after pulling upon my boxers. I’ve never seen a reaction as worse than she was and I understand why.

Who in their right mind wouldn’t be when she just realized she's been played at for so many months?

I never meant for her to find out about my ‘other women’ but when I woke up and started to call her with a different name, she just lashed out on me. I still can’t remember who she was, and for that, I sigh. I bit my lip and take a step back scanning the whole room and checking if I ever had left anything. It will be a hassle if I do, considering that I never want to see this crazy woman again.

“I gave you everyzhing and zis is ‘ow you repay me, you piece of zhidt!” She wipes her eyes, causing her to smudge her mascara and I find it hard to stop the laugh that is bubbling up my throat. The blonde woman threw the vase at me and I take a step back, “Filth. Get out, you cunard!”

She pushed me out of her door and I collapsed in a heap, laughing like a mad man.

I looked down at my wrist and realize my mistake as soon as the door closed behind me. Three beats! I need two more beats to survive the next few weeks.

As a Dieuoubliè, or  banished cupid in a layman’s term, I have to trick and hurt people, cause misunderstanding and chaos in order to survive in this earth. I owe my life to Gaea who felt pity upon my biased judgement and decided that I deserved a second chance. Though inconvenient this way of life is, I don’t hold it upon her. She saved me and for that I am forever thankful for.

As I was a cupid before who is in charge of giving love, taking it is not a big problem. Though sometimes, I feel lonely and envious when I witness the people around me, living and dying with love. It hurts me that I cannot receive any love for I was not deserving of it since I have received my punishment. I am uncertain as to why I was unfairly judged in the past, but a millennia’s worth of memory has dulled and remain blurry in my mind.

Yet, there is someone whom I always dreamed of. A girl. She appears to be the reason of my existence. She is the girl that I adored; one whom I cannot forget even if everything fades to nothing. She keeps me living, for in her, I hope that someday we will meet.

I have to fill the void in my chest before it consumes me. I have no choice but to shot people and rejoice of their suffering even though, the guilt is squeezing my faltering heart.

Shaking my head, I adjusted my coat and caressed the steel arrow in the pockets, desperate to break a heart or two. This task is tiring yet exciting in its very nature.

I just have to survive until I find the girl from my dreams.

"I guess you are forgetting a very vital part to my requirement." The voice of Gaea whispering from the shadows made me stop. I look around and gasped, seeing her bright eyes gleaming in excitement as though it is floating in the dark. She is blending in the shadows of the alley, hidden in the dark because of her skin and earth toned dress. She smiled at me and I took a step back, "Gaea."

"Caelon, you might not see how crucial it is for you to find a wife right now, and you may think that it is just a bother but I only want what is best for you."

She closed her eyes and faded in the dark.

Why is she so adammant about me finding a wife?

*

I clicked my tongue as I realized how late it is. Where is she?

I’ve been waiting for the rented girl whom I called to pretend as my wife. Emyr said that it will help with my urges and I ought to try it. He mentions that it will help me to forget the girl from my dreams though I doubt it. After waiting here for two hours, I realize how wrong this plan is.

Realizing that she won’t come any time soon, I stood from my seat and went out of the restaurant, fascinated by the early evening glow.

“Watch it!”

Someone moved from behind me, pushing me down on the pavement and I glared at the man who is riding a bicycle, indifferent as he hastily passed. The weight of someone from above me shifted and I moved my head, not expecting lips to collide upon mine.

My breath faltered and I felt a warm tingle upon my cheeks. Light golden flecks were dusted upon smooth shoulders. The eyes that bored into mine were so green that I am mesmerized. I pulled away and realized that I just kissed the red haired girl who is equally baffled like me. My insides felt mushy and I felt embarrassed.

Wait! I shouldn’t feel like this. As a Dieuoubliè, I should be used to the idea of kissing random women so why am I reacting like a stupid teenage boy?

Get your act together, Caelon!

She frantically scrambled to her feet and tucked her hair behind her ear. My eyes were glued to her and I notice how odd she looks : her hair wild so is her expression. She is wearing a pale coloured dress that accentuated her petite yet curvaceous body. She is so small yet beautiful, as though she was a woman given a face of a child.

“I am sorry,  I didn’t mean to fall upon you or kiss you but the bicycle was swiveling and you could’ve been hurt if I didn’t-“

I held out my hand and she stopped talking. “It’s fine and I do not saving.” I start to walk away but the feeling of embarrassment is still clinging on me and I disliked it. Redeeming my confidence, I take a step back and pointed a finger at her, “ I know that I am handsome and attractive as hell but you just have to ask for a kiss, politely. I won’t hesitate to give it to you next time.” I winked at her and she gasped.

The reaction I received appears to calm my beating heart and I was able to regain my composure.

*

The sight of the LOUST club excited me and I am glad as the evening fell.  I ran my fingers upon the steel arrow but stumbled when a hand pulled me back. The odd lady from a while ago was once again standing in front of me. Her eyes unfocused as she stared intently upon my steel arrows.

Wait. Didn’t I use some allurements to hide the sight from curious humans so why does she—

“You are a cupid too?”

The question that I despised came out of her mouth without warning and I felt a chill down my spine. My blood starts to boil, my eyebrows drawing to the center. I decided to ignore her as I headed in the club, letting the music drown my emotions. She followed me to the back of the room and my irritation only bubbled up as she tugged at my coat.

“What do you want?”She touched her ear and my eyes fell to her lips. The scene from awhile ago came to me and the embarrassment that I felt, triple. I gritted my teeth  and pointed at her. “You know what? If you have no purpose here, you should leave. I have to work and I can’t let you distract me.” I snarled at her and she simply shrug her shoulders, walking away.

“Such a bother.” I clicked my tongue and scanned the room. I located a target, blowing upon my steel arrows and preparing to shoot when a golden arrow whiz past my ear and to my victim. I watch as the arrow embedded itself in my victim’s chest and blossomed. I looked behind me to see her smirking at me, waving her hand.

Gritting my teeth, I headed to where she was standing only to have her turn her back on me. I hastily tried to catch up to her, not realizing that I am stepping at the ribbons of her dress, making me stumble.

The both of us ended on the floor, her lips upon mine once again.

The crowd cheered around us and I hastily scrambled off of her, my cheeks flushed.

What is happening? Why do we keep on ending up on top of each other with our lips connected, as though we were magnets – no! I shake my head and tried to get rid of these thoughts.

The other guys from the crowd cheered and howled, some of them even clapping me in the back but I shake them off and walk away.

The Chateau is a looming building next to the pastry and flower shop. It is located in the center of the town and it is beneficial in my part to live here since I could sense adultery and jealousy easier. Since the park is just a walk away, I could easily drop by and ruin someone else’s picnic.

Newman was standing guard by the doors when I came and he sensed my irritation, giving me a curt nod instead of a greeting. I rolled my eyes at him and watch as the other banished cupid tried to escape my mood as they scrambled to their stations.

The bickering couple that are with me inside the lift did not improve my sour mood. I drag myself back to my room and threw the arrows on the couch together with the allurement vials and my pipe. I collapse down on the carpeted floor, spread eagled with no care in the world as I turn in the television, munching on the apple I had stolen yesterday.

I was momentarily dazed, playing with the core of the apple on my hands as I go over the events that had happened today.

It’s not possible that they are here to ruin my work, right? And the girl, I touched my lips and shivered. Why does she resemble the one from my dreams? What is really happening? The events that happen awhile ago couldn’t be a coincident. They must be planning something and using her is the first step.

I was too distracted that I didn't realize the knock coming from my window. I frown.

What the arrows is that? I think this is the same bird I have tried to kill last week but it got away before I had the chance to. “I’ll get you this time, yeah? Just wait!”

Pulling myself up, I hastily ran to my room and was surprise as I open the traditional window covering my glass ones.

I can’t believe my luck today.

There–smiling at me as the gold glitters on her skin contrast with the freckles sprinkled on her cheeks–was the same girl I kissed awhile ago. I grumbled at the sight of her dazzling green eyes and the red locks that are as wild as fire, blown away by the wind.

She happily waved at me with her golden arrows and said, "There you are! I was looking everywhere for you.”

I felt her breath fan my face and the intoxicating scent of vanilla made me dizzy. I need to act fast or else this freaking thing will overpower me. Snarling, I stuck my tongue out at her and push her with all my might, smiling as I hear her scream.

Well, that my folks, is a cupid.

One thousand and ninety-five days since I'd seen the sun without silver bars cutting it into pieces. Warden Cass shoved a plastic bag into my hands—everything I owned in the world now reduced to a wrinkled dress, worn sneakers, and thirty-seven dollars in crumpled bills. "Bus ticket's inside," she said, her voice flat. "Don't come back, Stone." I nodded, my throat too dry for words. My wolf—Ember, she used to be called—stirred weakly somewhere deep inside me, a flicker of consciousness so faint I wondered if I'd imagined it. The wolfsbane injections had done their job well. Too well. I walked through the gates, each step feeling like I was dragging chains that weren't there anymore.

On the battlefield, I fought desperately, turning the tide of what should have been a defeat. On the way back to the pack territory, I encountered Isaac Meyer, the Alpha of the Silver Moon Pack, whom I had loved for years. I thought he was there to celebrate with me, so I rushed toward him, throwing myself into his arms. But he struck me with a single blow, knocking me unconscious. When I woke, rumors had already spread through the pack that I had fled the battle, and my Delta, Ella Sullivan, was credited with leading the victory. I went to confront him, but he looked down at me with cold indifference. “You’ve already earned plenty of glory,” he said dismissively. “Ella has been your subordinate for years. Isn’t it fair to let her have this one?” His expression was so detached, so unfeeling, that I finally understood why he had insisted I lead this battle. It had all been a setup.

The harvest moon hung low over the Silvermoon Pack territory, casting silver shadows across the celebration grounds. I stood at the edge of the main hall, clipboard in hand, watching Grant move through the crowd with the natural grace of a born leader. Stop it, Harper. You're his assistant, nothing more. But then his eyes would find mine across the room, holding my gaze for just a moment too long, and my carefully constructed walls would crumble. Tonight felt different somehow. The air between us crackled with something electric, something dangerous. "Harper." His voice, warm and commanding, made me jump. I hadn't heard him approach.
