Chapter 4

They went to the smoking room. Seth lit a cigarette.

In the haze of smoke, he mumbled, “I didn’t.”

“Then what’s up with all the marks on her neck?”

Seth paused for a few seconds. “Got bitten by mosquitoes, I guess.”

Lucien frowned. He was clearly unconvinced.

Seth blew a smoke ring and sneered. “Besides, what does it matter if I touched her? It’s not like you intend to stay with her. Why don’t you just divorce her?”

Lucien reacted agitatedly. “No way! I’ve known Annie for so many years! There’s love between us. The thing is, Holly’s pregnant now. I can’t leave her right now.”

“Oh.” Seth scoffed. His tone was sarcastic as he said, “So you want them both. You’re despicable, Lucien.”

Lucien was silent for a beat. He sounded unsure as he said, “Seth, when Annie loses her memory again, let’s switch back.”

“We’ll talk again when that actually happens.”

Lucien felt uneasy at the lack of a certain answer.

He stared at Seth, his expression stern. “I just feel that something’s going on between you and Annie. Seth, swear to me that you won’t touch her!”

Seth squeezed the cigarette in his hand. He was just about to speak when I came out with my CT scan report and disrupted them.

“Honey, I have good news for you! The doctor said that I’m all healed up. I won’t lose my memories again!”

Lucien was momentarily stunned, and he looked stricken. “How can this be?”

Seth, on the other hand, was overjoyed. “Really? That’s wonderful, babe. Let’s go home and celebrate!”

I took Seth’s hand and moved to leave.

However, Lucien grabbed me. “Annie, wait! Actually, I’m…”

I interrupted him impatiently. “Mr. Kaplan, you might be my husband’s friend, but you don’t have the right to touch me. That was impolite of you.”

Pulling a disgusted face, I swung his hand away. I did not even look back as we left.

After we got home, I did not even manage to turn on the lights before Seth swept me up and carried me to the bedroom.

His kisses were passionate and covered every inch of my neck.

A muffled voice whispered into my ear, “Annie, let’s never part again, okay?”

In the darkness, I said softly, “Alright.”

When Seth heard this, he became wild and insatiable again, taking and taking without a moment of respite.

Yet, when we were on the edge of release, the lights of the room came on.

Lucien stood in the doorway, his expression vicious as he clenched his fists. He was furious.
