I Gave Up After Failing To Pull My Lover
Chapter 4
“I’m here to take my stuff. But it seems like I don’t have to anymore.”
I took out my lighter and set the place on fire. I wanted to burn my past away.
Mandy stared at the fire and trembled in fear. “Madwoman! You’re a madwoman!”
“Jade!” William dragged me away in anger.
“Are you insane? Do you think I’ll marry you if you kill Mandy? Can you stop being so stubborn and delusional?”
I flung his hand away and calmly said, “I bought everything in Luna Residence, so I’m burning my own belongings. What’s wrong with that?
“You can see Adam for property damages. I can afford to pay you.”
William’s face fell, and he could not say another word.
Austin sent me a list of the wedding gifts.
When I looked at the familiar items, I finally knew why Austin scoffed when I married William in my past life.
It turned out that Austin had prepared the list all along. William did not want to marry me, so he never put in any effort.
However, I was blinded by love, and I did not notice it.
Fortunately, I was lucky enough to have returned to the past.
“Are you injured?” I could smell blood, and I reached out to grab at Austin’s clothes. His face turned red as he coughed awkwardly. “It’s someone else’s blood. I’m not injured.
“But you can still touch me if you want to. I’m not weak like William.”
In the end, he grabbed my hand and ran it over his muscles. Rendered speechless by his behavior, I pinched him.
“Go and get a shower. Our wedding’s tomorrow.”
That night, William ran away with Mandy.
In the past, he had also run away. However, I thought that he was just busy, so I personally went out with my people to bring him back. It did not occur to me that he was not willing to be with me.
“Mr. William Smith says that he won’t marry you. If you bring him back by force, he’ll kill himself and Mandy so that they can be together.”
I did not want to entertain this. It was good that he left because I could have a peaceful wedding. Otherwise, they might cause trouble.
“What a crazy man. Leave him be. He’s not my groom anyway.”
On the day of my wedding, the venue was packed with people. I looked down from the second floor and realized this one was grander than the first.
My father was smiling, but he was secretly wiping his tears.
He had me when he was older; he definitely would not be able to take it if I died before him.
Fortunately, I had a chance to change that.
When I changed into my wedding gown and stood outside the entrance, William suddenly appeared wearing a tux.
“I underestimated you, Jade. You really haven’t changed, and I’m disgusted by you.
“I’ve agreed to marry you, so let Mandy go. I won’t see her ever again.”
“Let Mandy go? What do you mean?” I frowned.
Did he not run away with her?
“Why are you putting on an act?” His expression turned sullen. “You went as far as kidnapping Mandy to make me marry you.
“You must be happy that you got what you wanted once again.”
I could not take it anymore. “What do you mean I got what I wanted? I didn’t kidnap Mandy, and I’m not marrying you. Can you get lost?”
William sneered as he looked even more disgusted.
“Who are you marrying if not me? All of North Town knows that you love me so much. You’re just doing whatever you want because you have your family supporting you.
“You’ll have my flesh, but you’ll never have my heart. I won’t love you, and I won’t touch you. You’ll only have the empty title of my wife.
“It’s what you deserve, Jade. Prepare for retribution.”
Before I could speak, he grabbed my hand and placed it in the crook of his arm. Then, with great force, he pushed the door before us open.
“Let’s welcome the bride, Jade, and the groom, Austin…”
Adam’s voice trailed off.
Everyone was shocked as they stared at William. He paused and turned to me. “Who did he say the groom was?”
